Chapter 101: WHAT IF ONE DAY YOU LEAVE ME?
The woman with golden eyes grinned. "Ah, you are so cute." She cooed at Seara. "I like your hair. I want to cut it off." She leaned over and kissed Seara’s forehead.
Her lips were cold, and Seara was in shock, to the point she could not move and avoid the kiss. Seara was trembling, while the other women looked at her with concern in their eyes.
"Miss, are you okay? Do you need something?" One of the women took out their water bottle and wanted to give it to Seara.
However, she already stormed out of the toilet, and when someone caught her, she yelped and tried to fight back until she realized it was Zade.
"It’s me, it’s me," Zade said. He came here to get her, not because she had gone more than five minutes, but because he wouldn’t let her out of his sight. "What happened?"
Seara shook her head, but fear in her eyes was impossible to hide. "I think—I think I have to take my medicine. I think I forgot to take my medicine."
"You took it this afternoon," Zade reminded her. He was the one who gave it to Seara and made sure she didn’t miss it.
"No... I think I have to take more. I have to take more." Seara started to search the bottle in Zade’s jacket pocket.
"Seara, calm down. Talk to me; what did you see?" Zade hugged her tightly to stop her from trying to take the bottle out of his pocket and also to soothe her anxiety. It was clear she was seeing something inside. "Talk to me, Seara."
Seara struggled to get away from Zade, but his touch was comforting; he caressed her back in a soothing motion that let some tension out.
"Talk to me, Seara. What did you see?" Zade couldn’t care less about the people who were staring at them as he leaned against the wall with Seara close to him.
"A woman... a woman with golden eyes... she didn’t have a reflection in the mirror. I looked in the mirror, but I could only see myself. I was talking to myself again. I was the only one who could see her... those women inside said I was talking alone."
To know Sybill didn’t even exist in the first place was devastating for Seara. The thought that she had been talking to herself all those years was unbearable.
Those nights when she believed she was talking to Sybill—and the thought that she was not alone—actually turned out to be moments when she was talking to no one.
When she thought she had someone who felt the same pain and loneliness as her, it was actually her own mind that was trying to cope with the harsh reality.
It took intense care from Jane and countless medicines for her to be able to live normally, but even so, it felt like walking on an eggshell that could be cracked one day.
And this one was her second crack.
"Zade, am I going insane?" Seara asked in a trembling voice. "I think I am going insane."
Zade kissed her head. "You are not. We are going to find a way out of this." He reassured her. "I will call Jane to look into it, okay?"
"Zade, I think I can’t be fixed anymore." Seara furrowed her brows. "I don’t want to be in that hospital again." Tears streamed down Seara’s cheeks. The thought of being back in the hospital made her stomach churn.
"You will not go there again. Let’s go back home, and we will meet Jane at home, okay?" Zade kissed her tears away. "It’s fine to meet Jane at home, right?"
Seara nodded. She didn’t want to be in the hospital, but it didn’t mean she didn’t wish to see Jane. She was the only one who could help her.
"I am sorry, I ruined the day," Seara said in a small voice in the car as Zade fastened her seatbelt.
"You don’t. You ruin nothing." Zade cupped her face. "You will be fine. We are going to be fine."
Seara nodded, though she didn’t believe that. She hugged her stuffed bunny and stared at the city light out there.
It didn’t bother her as much as when she was in this city for the first time; she could go out in public again now. But why did she have to encounter this experience again? Why was her mind so broken to the point she couldn’t enjoy happiness?
She was right. Something bad must follow something good.
She had been very happy lately and thought she was finally fine, but it turned out she was mistaken; all her happiness and good feelings would eventually end; there was an expiry date for everything.
Seara then glanced at Zade. Would there be a day when Zade was so fed up with her that he would throw her away?
After all, Silas was fed up with her too; that’s why he stopped defending her against Brigid and the others.
What if Zade stopped loving her and the mate bond between them didn’t work anymore? Daven had proven that. Despite their mate bond, he could still cheat on her.
And Zade—Zade was much better than Daven. He could have everything; anything or anyone he wanted. What could she do if he decided to leave her?
Zade then turned his head when he felt Seara was staring at him. "What is it, Love?"
Would there be a day when he stopped calling her his love? Would there be a day where she would find him having sex with someone else the way she found Daven and Eudora?
No one could guarantee that he wouldn’t. Who would dare to stop him if he wanted that?
"Seara?" Zade stopped the car when the light turned red and now shifted his attention completely to her. "What is it? Do you feel hurt somewhere?"
"What if one day you leave me?"
"What?" Zade didn’t expect the question. This came out of the blue.
