Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off

Chapter 861: Bedtime Tactics

Rong Ye stood alone outside the gate, so frustrated he angrily kicked a small pebble on the ground.

Unluckily for him, even the pebble seemed to have an attitude today. The tiny stone flew forward, slammed hard against a tree trunk, and bounced straight back onto his forehead with a sharp clack!

"Ouch! Damn it!"

Rong Ye clutched his forehead, cursing without restraint. It was truly a terrible, rotten day for him!

How was he supposed to console his angry female now?

And as for his little brat of a son...was he really just going to sit there and sulk? Couldn’t that little fox cub help his poor father out just a little bit? After all, his father had done so much for him!

Sighing helplessly, Rong Ye looked at the house. Fine. Su Qinglan and Ciao Ciao were currently mad at him, but food was never innocent. Looking at the large basket of wild eggs he had gathered, a stroke of genius struck him.

He decided to make scrambled eggs for the rest of the household, a batch of hard-boiled eggs for Su Qinglan, and a nice plate of soft poached eggs for the little brat.

He immediately hurried into the kitchen and got to work.

Meanwhile, little Ciao Ciao peeked secretly through the window crack.

The moment his eyes fell on his father carefully making those delicious, silky poached eggs, a wave of drool instantly filled his mouth.

Slurp!

However, remembering that he was supposed to be extremely angry, Ciao Ciao quickly puffed out his cheeks.

He couldn’t possibly beg for food first! His foolish father would definitely have to come out and beg him to eat it. Only then would he consider forgiving him!

A short while later, Rong Ye finished cooking. He walked out to find that Su Qinglan had already retreated to her bedroom, while Ciao Ciao was pacing back and forth in the main hall, making sure he was clearly visible.

Rong Ye shot his son a disdainful glare. Without saying a single word, he placed the plate of hot poached eggs on the table and immediately walked past him toward Su Qinglan’s room.

He knew exactly what was going on in his son’s little head, letting out a quiet sneer.

Did that brat think his own father couldn’t see through his silly act?

Dream on! If Ciao Ciao wanted to eat, he could eat. If he didn’t, Rong Ye was more than happy to feed those eggs to Stove. At least Stove would be grateful, unlike his ungrateful little son!

Placating his female was infinitely more important right now.

Carrying a bowl of freshly boiled eggs... Su Qinglan’s absolute favorite... Rong Ye slipped into the bedroom. He saw Su Qinglan sitting near her desk, rummaging through a small chest to find something.

Rong Ye immediately sat down beside her, putting on a deeply wronged expression.

"Lanlan... those old men are truly terrible! Don’t be mad, okay? I will definitely teach them a proper lesson later!"

Su Qinglan didn’t even bother looking at him, continuing her search.

Rong Ye felt a prick of anxiety, quickly bringing a warm, peeled egg right to her lips. "Here, try this."

Su Qinglan paused. She tried to resist, but she couldn’t help taking a small bite. After all, she genuinely loved boiled eggs!

Finding good wild bird eggs in the forest had become insanely difficult lately. The birds in the forest had grown so clever that they knew exactly how to hide their nests.

Furthermore, Su Qinglan was a picky eater...she only ate cuckoo eggs or specific wild bird eggs, refusing to eat eggs from strange or unknown species.

She simply couldn’t ignore the tantalizing, delicious smell right in front of her nose.

Small bite by small bite, she slowly ate the whole egg. Seeing her eat, Rong Ye’s heart instantly brightened. He happily peeled a second egg and handed it over, then a third.

Su Qinglan slowly chewed, her bright eyes locking onto Rong Ye’s flawlessly handsome face. After swallowing, she said lightly, "Even if I ate your eggs, I am still unhappy."

Rong Ye’s body stiffened for a second, but he quickly maintained his dazzling smile. He finished peeling the remaining eggs and fed them to her one by one.

The moment she swallowed the last bite, Rong Ye didn’t hesitate. He scooped her up in one smooth motion, placing her securely on his lap and wrapping his strong arms tightly around her waist.

Su Qinglan raised an eyebrow, looking down at him quietly to see what he was going to pull next.

Rong Ye let out a low chuckle, affectionately rubbing his nose against the soft crook of her neck.

"Lanlan, don’t be angry anymore. Just ignore those old elders. Aside from making a loud fuss outside, what else can they even do? It’s not like they can forcefully snatch Ciao Ciao away from us!"

Su Qinglan hummed coldly. "They come here every single month using the exact same excuse just to catch a glimpse of Ciao Ciao. How many times can we stall them? I already promised them back in the spring that we would take Ciao Ciao to the Fox Beast City, but it’s already summer now! What kind of excuse are we going to give them this time?"

Rong Ye’s lips curled up into a thoroughly sly, wicked grin. He leaned close to her ear, whispering mischievously, "We’ll just tell them that we are currently very busy... trying to make more incredible cubs like Ciao Ciao!"

Su Qinglan stared at him, stunned.

Rong Ye chuckled evilly. "If those old men hear that there might be even more nine-tailed fox cubs coming to our lineage, they’ll be so thrilled they’ll run back to celebrate!"

"You—!" Su Qinglan glared at him.

Before she could slap his arm, Rong Ye scooped her up into his arms, spun around, and tossed her gently onto the big bed!

Su Qinglan gasped, looking up at him in shock.

Rong Ye grinned like a triumphant rogue. In one swift, smooth movement, he whipped his top tunic off, tossed it into the air, and pounced directly onto the bed!
