Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off

Ciao Ciao felt like his little head was going to explode. These old men were absolutely insane!

He looked at his nine tails...two of them were being held like thick ropes. One elder had both arms wrapped around his back leg; another was hugging his front paw. His entire body was practically suspended in the air between them!

Ciao Ciao kicked his little legs helplessly. "Let me go!"

Ciao Ciao was so angry he couldn’t speak anymore.

Far away in the bushes, Stove was covering his mouth with both leaves, while Little Hua was shaking violently as she desperately held back her laughter.

Even Su Qinglan’s lips were twitching uncontrollably.

As for Rongye... he had one broad hand clamped over his mouth, his shoulders shaking so hard it looked like he was having a seizure. He was desperately trying not to burst out laughing, but watching his proud little son suspended helplessly in midair by three desperate old foxes was simply the funniest thing he had ever seen in his life!

Suddenly, Ciao Ciao turned his head toward the bushes. His sharp little eyes immediately spotted his parents hiding in the leaves.

"Mama!"

Su Qinglan instantly straightened up.

Ciao Ciao pointed a tiny, trembling paw at the three elders. "Help me!"

Rongye’s expression immediately sobered up as he looked at Su Qinglan. "Lanlan..."

Su Qinglan let out a long, helpless sigh. "I know."

She slowly stood up from the bushes. Behind her, Rongye prepared to step out as well.

But before they could take a single step forward, Ciao Ciao suddenly shouted at the top of his lungs, "And don’t let them touch my tails!"

Hearing that, the three elders instantly tightened their grip on his tails! "Don’t worry, little prince! We definitely won’t let you run!"

Ciao’s entire face turned bright red with fury. "I’M NOT RUNNING!"

The three elders exchanged knowing looks and nodded in unison. "Yes, yes. We understand. We won’t let you run."

Ciao Ciao nearly fainted right then and there from sheer anger.

These three old elders... were truly, completely, utterly hopeless!

Ciao. I seriously wondered whether returning to Fox Beast City to defeat that mysterious rival was even worth having to deal with these three crazy old men!

But then he remembered that someone was trying to steal his rightful clan leader position. His eyes sharpened once again.

Fine. He would go.

But first... he was going to make these three lunatics let go of his tails!

Su Qinglan finally stepped in front of them.

The moment she appeared, the three elders suddenly felt a strange, prickling gaze fall squarely upon them. All three stiffened instantly.

They looked left. They looked right. Then they slowly turned around.

Who was staring at them with such terrifying intensity?

Their anxious eyes finally landed on Su Qinglan. She was smiling...a very gentle, sweet smile. Her eyes had curved into beautiful crescents, and there was not even the slightest trace of anger visible on her face.

Yet, for some reason, all three elders felt a wave of icy cold sweat running down their backs. They had never been so thoroughly terrified by a smile in their entire lives!

Su Qinglan slowly walked toward them, her steps light and measured. "May I ask what the respected elders are doing with my cub?"

Her voice was soft. She glanced down at their trembling hands. One elder was holding Ciao Ciao’s front paw, another was holding his back leg, and the third was still tightly clutching several of his fluffy white tails.

Su Qinglan tilted her head gracefully. "I see you are holding him like a little thief." She smiled again, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Did my cub do something wrong?"

The three elders instantly dropped Ciao Ciao as if his fur had suddenly caught fire!

"NO!"

"NOTHING AT ALL!"

"WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!"

Their hands flew away into the air.

Ciao Ciao immediately scrambled free. "Mama!"

He sprinted toward Su Qinglan, leaping straight into her open arms. The little fox instantly buried his head against her chest, wrapping his tiny paws around her neck and rubbing his wet nose against her collarbone. His entire small body trembled with immense grievance. "Mama..."

Su Qinglan gently stroked his fluffy head, her voice instantly turning warm and soothing. "Don’t be afraid, my sweet boy. Mother is here."

Ciao Ciao instantly relaxed in her arms. In his entire world, only his mother was truly reliable and protective!

Peeking secretly over her shoulder, his eyes landed on Rong Ye standing behind them. Ciao Ciao shot his father a thoroughly disdainful, haughty look.

Hmph! Useless!

His father had been standing in those bushes the whole time and hadn’t even beaten up those crazy old men! What kind of father was he?! His mother was the only real hero in the household!

Rong Ye naturally caught his son’s mocking expression. His eyebrow twitched violently. He had a very strong suspicion that his little brat of a son was mentally insulting him again.

But considering his precarious position with Su Qinglan today, he wisely decided to swallow his pride and stay silent.

Su Qinglan gently patted Ciao Ciao’s back before looking up at the kneeling elders. "What actually happened?"

The three elders immediately shuffled forward on their knees, hands raised in panic. "Female Su Qinglan! We truly didn’t mean any harm!"

The first elder hurriedly explained, "We were only begging the little prince to return with us to save the clan!"

"Yes, yes!" another elder chimed in rapidly. "An ambitious figure has suddenly appeared in Fox Beast City! He is trying to claim the position of clan leader!"

The third elder looked extremely anxious. "That person is not a good person at all! He wants to usurp the throne!"

Su Qinglan’s expression changed slightly, her curiosity instantly piqued. She looked down at the little fox in her arms. "The clan leader’s position?"

Ciao Ciao nodded solemnly.

Su Qinglan thought for a moment before asking softly, "Ciao Ciao, do you want to become the clan leader of Fox Beast City?"
