Chapter 1386 - 696: Conversation
Hu Yi never expected that Lin Beichen would actually agree to take her as a disciple.
The happiness came so suddenly that she wasn’t prepared at all, so she ran up to Lin Beichen and hugged him tightly.
This sudden hug made Lin Beichen a bit uncomfortable, although he was somewhat unwilling in his heart, since it was a system directive, he had no choice.
"Don’t get too excited yet. Although I’ve agreed to take you as my disciple, you still have a long way to go, and you need to figure out many things on your own."
Hu Yi couldn’t contain her joy and kept hugging Lin Beichen, with no intention of letting go.
Lin Beichen said awkwardly, "I know you’re happy, but could we put our hands down? You’re squeezing me so hard that I’m struggling to breathe. Are you trying to kill me?"
Only then did Hu Yi realize, and at this moment, Zhou Yi also rushed in. Seeing Hu Yi, he was extremely surprised.
"How did you get in again? Didn’t I tell you? He won’t take you as his disciple. Why are you so stubborn? Are you leaving on your own this time, or do I have to make you leave?"
Seeing his words being ignored, Zhou Yi was a little unhappy. He signaled Lin Beichen about what to do, but Lin Beichen didn’t say anything.
Zhou Yi angrily prepared to kick Hu Yi out, but suddenly Hu Yi said, "I’m now Lin Beichen’s disciple, so you better speak more politely."
Zhou Yi sensed the joking tone in her words but found it hard to believe. Just a second ago, Lin Beichen said he wouldn’t take disciples, and the next moment, Hu Yi became his disciple. It was hard to accept.
He turned to Lin Beichen, "Is that true?"
Lin Beichen didn’t speak, but this silence confirmed the acceptance of a disciple. Zhou Yi patted his forehead and muttered, "I thought once you make up your mind, no one can change it, but it seems I was wrong."
Lin Beichen took on the disciple reluctantly, to obey the system’s directive. But now that he had, he had to fulfill the responsibilities of a teacher.
"Take her for a meal. Look at her frail body. If you don’t treat her to something good, people might think I’m mistreating her as a teacher."
Even though Zhou Yi was extremely unwilling, he sarcastically replied, "Alright, my dear ’no-disciple-taking’ master."
In response to Zhou Yi’s sarcastic remark, Lin Beichen hurriedly explained, "Don’t read too much into it. I did say I wouldn’t take disciples, but the system indicated I should take her as my direct disciple."
So that’s what happened. Zhou Yi understood the truth and no longer made things difficult for Lin Beichen. He thought to himself, the disciple Lin Beichen took might not be simple.
Lin Beichen frowned, feeling puzzled. Logically, the system wouldn’t prompt like this, and they had no reason to doubt the system’s correctness.
The three of them went to a restaurant, and Zhou Yi ordered a lot of rich foods at once. After ordering, he kept sneaking glances at Lin Beichen, giving the impression that he needed Lin Beichen’s approval to order.
Looking at a table full of dishes, Hu Yi swallowed her saliva. But she still knew some basic etiquette, not daring to pick up food before Lin Beichen spoke.
Lin Beichen didn’t want to make things difficult for her, so he said to Hu Yi, "Eat whatever you want, I don’t have that many rules here. I’ll tell you gradually in the future."
Hearing this, Hu Yi didn’t even use chopsticks and started grabbing food with her hands, gobbling it down.
This eating manner stunned both Zhou Yi and Lin Beichen. Zhou Yi looked at Hu Yi in shock, while Lin Beichen thought to himself, did I accept a disciple or a wildling?
Zhou Yi couldn’t stand it anymore and coughed. Hu Yi stopped, with her mouth still full of food, blankly looking at the two, and then realized how awful her eating manner was.
As a teacher, Lin Beichen could only console her, "It’s okay, eat slowly. This whole table is yours, no one’s fighting you for it."
Zhou Yi directly picked up a pair of chopsticks and placed them in Hu Yi’s hand, telling her, "Chopsticks aren’t just for show, they are meant for picking up food."
Holding chopsticks in one hand, with food still not swallowed in her mouth, Hu Yi couldn’t speak, just kept chewing. After a while, she finally swallowed.
After the two awkwardly exchanged glances, Zhou Yi patiently taught Hu Yi how to use chopsticks. Despite the awkwardness, Hu Yi started learning. Just like when she learned to meditate; even though it was her first time, she managed quite decently.
Lin Beichen felt Hu Yi’s behavior was unusual, so he directly asked, "Where are you from? Why do you want to be my disciple?"
The learning Hu Yi heard Lin Beichen’s question, turned to glance at him but didn’t speak. Clearly, she seemed absent-minded.
This made Lin Beichen a bit suspicious of Hu Yi’s intentions in approaching him. Did she want to harm him? But the system indicated making her the direct disciple, which didn’t add up.
Seeing Hu Yi not answering, Lin Beichen was puzzled but didn’t continue questioning. Instead, he found Hu Yi’s actions with chopsticks quite amusing.
"You have to do it like I do. If you can’t even use chopsticks properly, what can you hope to learn from your teacher?" Lin Beichen said.
Hu Yi let out a weak smile, then looked at Zhou Yi with determined eyes. In her heart, she thought as long as she wanted to do something well, she would surely succeed.
Unexpectedly, within a few minutes, Hu Yi learned how to use chopsticks. Zhou Yi felt that for someone who had never used chopsticks, it was a truly challenging task.
