Chapter 1407 - 706: A Miracle Appears (Part 2)
Hu Yi didn’t devote much thought to Zhou Yi; she simply wanted to strive for her own aspirations and stay by Lin Beichen’s side.
The Sect Leader saw Lin Beichen and Zhou Yi fall out over this matter and couldn’t help but burst into laughter. His sinister smile spread across his entire face, even causing the muscles on his face to tremble. Watching this, Hu Yi couldn’t help but feel uneasy. To say she wasn’t afraid wouldn’t be truthful.
But she didn’t want to appear weak and incompetent like Zhou Yi, betraying Lin Beichen in front of these villains. With a defiant expression, Hu Yi glared at the Sect Leader and shouted, "You old bastard, how dare you bully us like this!"
"You won’t die a good death, I curse you..."
"What are you standing there for? Drag them down and burn them! I want to see how long she can keep her stiff upper lip. Is she truly unafraid of death?" the Sect Leader roared.
"Yes, Sect Leader."
Lin Beichen and Hu Yi were quickly dragged away by the Sect Leader’s minions. Inside, Hu Yi was terrified but refused to let these people see through her fear; her gaze stayed fixed on Lin Beichen.
"You villains, let go of my master, don’t touch him..." Hu Yi shouted desperately, fearing these people would really harm Lin Beichen. She had never experienced such a scene before.
The entire church suddenly erupted into noise, all eyes focused on Lin Beichen and Hu Yi. The villagers whispered among themselves, struggling to accept the situation.
"How can they do this? To say burn them and just do it, isn’t that too cruel?"
"Don’t meddle; be careful not to get burned yourself."
"Yes, better to wait and see; they were careless."
The villagers whispered amongst themselves, but no one dared to speak a word of justice. Lin Beichen, however, showed no fear or resistance, allowing the missionaries to orchestrate his fate.
Meanwhile, other missionaries, under the Sect Leader’s orders, gathered all the villagers. Their objective was clear: to brainwash and deceive these simple villagers by any means necessary.
Lin Beichen had long seen through everything, making it his goal. Outwardly calm, his inner self boiled with emotion as he set his plan in motion.
Lin Beichen and Hu Yi were brought to the altar by the missionaries. Hu Yi noticed a large crowd had gathered below, whispering, though she couldn’t hear what they were saying. Around her, the missionaries held lit torches, glaring furiously at Lin Beichen and Hu Yi.
Lin Beichen and Hu Yi were securely bound on the altar, and only now did Hu Yi feel a sense of despair and fear. If Lin Beichen couldn’t come up with a plan, they might both perish in the flames.
Panicked, Hu Yi asked, "Master, what do we do? They’re about to set the fire. Are we really going to die here?"
"These missionaries are so vile, doing such cruel things to us. They’ll face retribution eventually." Hu Yi lamented sorrowfully.
Lin Beichen glanced at Hu Yi, seeing the fear in her eyes. With a gentle smile, he said, "Don’t be afraid..." but he didn’t say another word, his gaze surprisingly calm.
Seeing the villagers’ curious gazes, Lin Beichen couldn’t help but laugh aloud, only fueling their curiosity.
"What’s going on?"
"He doesn’t seem frightened at all; such spirit in the face of death."
"Impressive, truly a hero."
The villagers couldn’t help but praise Lin Beichen. Hearing their words, Lin Beichen felt that everything he had done was worthwhile. Just a little more patience, and it would all be over.
However, throughout, Lin Beichen showed no signs of resistance, as if he had accepted his fate. Hu Yi’s heart was anxious, unable to understand Lin Beichen’s behavior.
At this critical moment of life and death, would they really resign themselves to being burned alive? Hu Yi found it too unjust. Even for the sake of their lives, they should at least try to argue.
But no matter how Hu Yi thought about it, she was powerless, with no other options available.
"Oh heavens... please have mercy and save me and my master."
"I don’t want to die here; I still have so much left to do, my dreams yet unfulfilled. How can I die like this?"
"If you hear my plea, stop this, or it’ll be too late."
Hu Yi thought to herself, her empty gaze fixed on the blue sky. A pang of sadness filled her heart as she faced life and death without having been Lin Beichen’s disciple long enough, her dreams unrealized. This was cruel and heartless to Hu Yi.
Lin Beichen understood that making Hu Yi face all this was indeed pushing her, but he couldn’t help it; she was his disciple after all.
In this critical moment, Hu Yi looked up at Lin Beichen, who didn’t know how to comfort her. She seemed to read his mind, smiling slightly as she shook her head and said, "Master, no need to say anything, I trust you."
Lin Beichen never expected Hu Yi to say such words, which instantly changed his view of her. The usually carefree and fiery Hu Yi had chosen to trust him at this crucial moment, both surprising and touching him.
He smiled wryly, remaining silent. The two were firmly bound, unable to escape. The fires around them were ordered to be lit, and in an instant, the raging flames spread.
A thick, choking smoke filled the air, making Hu Yi gasp for breath. Soon, a wave of heat engulfed her whole body. "Cough... cough..." Hu Yi began to cough uncontrollably, as did the villagers watching.
Everyone instinctively covered their mouths and noses; the smoke was suffocating. Hu Yi felt herself getting dizzy from the smoke but knew she couldn’t faint.
Seeing herself and Lin Beichen about to be consumed by the flames, Hu Yi felt as if she heard death calling her. "Master, perhaps I can’t stay with you anymore; take care of yourself."
"If there’s a next life, I still want to be your disciple; this life, you haven’t finished your mission yet."
"In the next life, don’t forget me. Hu Yi truly admires you."
Hu Yi bade farewell to Lin Beichen, her words full of sadness. Lin Beichen glanced back at Hu Yi, then suddenly looked up to the sky and shouted, "Oh heavens, grant me rain!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the weather changed abruptly. Thunder rumbled, lightning flashed, as wind and rain whipped through the air, with raindrops as large as beans hitting the people’s faces.
"What’s happening?"
"The weather was fine just a moment ago; how did it suddenly start raining? So strange."
"Yes, this man can summon the wind and rain, truly miraculous."
The villagers were startled by Lin Beichen’s power, exclaiming in awe. Hu Yi thought she was doomed, but the sudden change brought her a rush of clarity.
The oppressive heat instantly vanished, replaced by a cool comfort. Hu Yi, astonished by the sight before her, said, "Master, you are amazing!"
"The rain has really come; it seems we’re saved, no longer doomed to die here."
Lin Beichen, however, remained calm, looking down at the villagers below, whose eyes were full of wonder at him. The missionaries, seeing this scene, refused to believe Lin Beichen had such power, thinking it merely a coincidence.
"Hmph, trying to fool me with this trickery, no way!"
"Hurry, light the fire and burn them both! Don’t let them spread their witchcraft here!" the Sect Leader roared.
A missionary, equally unbelieving, quickly approached to reignite the fire. However, a strange scene unfolded.
No matter how the missionary tried, he couldn’t get the fire to light. This made him anxious. Each attempt was extinguished by the rain, clearly unfolding before everyone’s eyes.
No matter the effort, no way could be found to reignite the fire. The missionary, enraged and humiliated, glared at Lin Beichen and Hu Yi, as if wishing to devour them alive.
