Continental Hero Senki
More than evidence.
When Major Damroche mentioned Mr. Feene, I think he got through the faceless (poker face) for me. It's worth the effort. As much as I'd like a compliment.
So, the problem isn't with my expression. The question is how far the Major knows about Mr. Feene.
"... I don't know what you mean"
I'll just soak it up. I want to know how far the Major knows.
"You know a female officer who says Fina Bednarek? I'm not gonna let you tell me you don't know."
I know. I read my first love sentence about 30 times.
The Major spoke of the name of an unnamed fictional female officer who said Bednarek, not von Linz's surname. This means that even if the Major knows that the ashy little girl is Fina Bednarek, he doesn't know that's the daughter of the Director of Investigation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ostmarc Empire. The Major should not have had a chance to find out about the Earl of Linz, his youngest son and even the one who would not attend the banquet of nobility by entering the cadet school until recently. You wouldn't know your face if you knew your name, and you don't have sketches or pictures. And the real name of the Ash Girl (Bednarek) still can't be known.
"I know. My beloved fiancée."
Mr. Feene, if I heard this, I'd hate it. I wonder if I can do it myself.
"Yeah, you did. That was the setting. But there wasn't a female officer in the Military Ministry's roster who said," Fina Bednarek. "
Did you check it out? Are you free to be chief aide? No, but if you're a female officer, there's a small number, so if you want to look into it, can you look into it? Hmm. The next time I see Mr. Feene, I'll tell you that it's better to name him an unusual man and a real officer. I don't know if I'll see you again.
"We know you were seeing this ash girl on February 15th. What were you talking about?
The Major is trying to bury her and then interrogate her to find out who she is. They don't seem to understand what the conversation is about. Maybe you don't know about that Mr. Feene's associate. In other words, from what the Major said, he doesn't seem to know about December 10. Is the tracker's memory poor, or is it hidden? No, is there no reason to hide it here?
I wonder what I should do. No way. To the chief aide who is a Grand Duke. Stupid. Honestly. "Hey, she says Fine von Linz! I was thinking of alliances with Ostmarc!" I can't say. You can't belabella talk about what this one is doing and where he's going more than you don't know what the Grand Duke wants to do.
I didn't say anything specific about my "proposal" about the Foreign Minister. I just told him "I requested your help," and I didn't tell him they were happy with it. I'm supposed to have just met the Foreign Secretary and been able to talk to him as a diplomat.
I wonder what the Major thinks of me in the first place? Do you think he is a traitor who has shed the inner feelings of the Kingdom of Silesia into an enemy country, or do you simply recognize him as the best friend of the princess, the political enemy of the Grand Duke?
Say something, Captain.
"I cannot find the need to say that 'something' to the Major on this matter"
"What?"
"I was just gathering information for Silesia. And we didn't do anything against the laws of Silesia or Ostomark or the military discipline of the Royal Army."
I'm not lying. Okay, it's true.
I'm not the one who fraudulently named Fina Bednarek. Besides, I get a lot of information, and I don't give you sensitive information that touches military aircraft. Rather than that, there are no military aircraft or anything with the Royal Army now able to move. Any of the information I give you is public or personal, even if it's a peasant's identity. Debt is much more in terms of borrowing.
"Well, let's change the way we say it. If you have not violated any military discipline, say who she is and clear your honor."
Did you say unjust crimes? I guess the point is, "I have to tell you, I'm going to a military conference on charges of leaking military secrets".
"She... is Fina Bednarek"
"Don't lie to me!
"No, definitely Fina Bednarek. She's a Silesian from the old Silesian territory that our country once ceded to the Ostmarc Empire."
The second half is a complete lie. I'm sure he named Bednarek, but he's not from old Silesian territory. I'm from the Count's house.
"Then why did the man Bednarek name an officer of our army? What were you doing with her?"
"To scratch the eyes of the security authorities of the Ostmarc Empire. She was working with me to monitor developments in this country."
"Why?"
"It's easy. To determine whether Ostmarc is willing or unwilling to invade our country in the name of the anti-Silesian alliance in the next war. She's making sure there's a connection to Ostmarc Central."
Even so, it's a terrible lie. Not all of it is a lie.
But there's no way the Major can confirm this. How many girls from old Silesian territory live in this Esterburg? If you tell the Imperial Home Office, "I'm looking for someone to be Fina Bednarek," maybe we'll find him. But if Fina Bednarek existed and found out that a stationed martial officer in the Kingdom of Silesia was looking for it, the Empire would try to catch this Bednarek somehow. If we get caught, it could be that the Kingdom of Silesia is gathering information from it, buying the anger of the Imperial Government, exposing us to the danger of joining the war even though we weren't willing to join it as an anti-Silesian alliance.
So the Major, or the Embassy of the Kingdom of Silesia, must look for an ashy girl from old Silesian territory who lives in Esterburg. Exactly proof of the devil.
"How did the Captain know she was connected to Imperial Central?
"Yes. You know I went out to the Grill Palzer Chamber of Commerce, right?
I couldn't afford to shake off my tracker then, and Mr. Feene wasn't there. Good, go alone. It's easy to lie because of it.
"Right. Indeed, I have heard that your officer's friend from the cadet school was engaged to Miss President of the Grill Palzer Chamber of Commerce."
"Yep. I went to see him using that handout."
Was it the Major who was stamping the censorship mark on that envelope? If so, then Fina Bednarek was a fictional figure and realized I was doing something. That's why he censored the letter coming to me with the Major's own hands. Yeah, that's convenient.
"I was just going to have a chat, and I wondered if I could use this handout effectively."
"What do you mean?
"The Grill Palzer Chamber of Commerce operates a trade. Trade is a lucrative business because peaceful times persist in my country. If so, I asked Ostmarc to help stop the next war, which could be a war disaster."
This is also a lie. But about 30% is true.
War creates special needs for companies in third countries. But aside from the story if one's own country is involved, it is also possible that one's own workers will be conscripted and their productive forces will fall, or that the resources they have will be levied in the name of the National General Mobilization Decree. There will be compensation, no matter, but it is unclear to what extent the opportunity will be lost.
Peace is better for companies to develop soundly. It's also easy to plan your business. I don't know what war special needs are, but the stock might overflow at the end of the war and force the finances.
"And I was introduced to a woman named Fina Bednarek."
Here's the script.
The Grill Palzer Chamber of Commerce gathers information inside the Ostmarc Empire. That information is given to me via an intermediary named Fina Bednarek. Bednarek also has his own imperial central pipe and gives it to me.
"In consideration, what are you going to give me?
"In consideration of my cooperation, I appeal to the Government of the Kingdom of Silesia to open the door to foreign investment. As the major knows, I know someone who can decide to do that."
This is true. If you win, there's a condition.
"... right"
Well, now, how far will the Major believe me? Must be through for once. But I don't have any physical evidence. Sometimes I can't give evidence because half of them are lies. But there is no way for the Major to be sure this is true or false.
The Major is worried about how to judge. There are three choices given to the Major: one to trust me and give him freedom of movement; the second to detain him inside the embassy with no faith at all; and the third to contact the Ostmarc Empire ready to sacrifice his collaborators. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like you to choose the first option: no for the second and no for the third. Worst of all, harm is done to Mr. Fine.
Come on, say it! Give me freedom of movement! Otherwise, I'll charge the military conference with the crime of ordering restraint without any physical evidence! I don't know if I'm guilty of that.
And, I don't know if my wish made sense, but the major sighed heavily.
"… the earlier order is withdrawn. Encourage me to do my job."
"Copy that!
We did it.
... Do you want to act with some more care next time?
