The total number of war casualties and missing persons (MIAs) in combat by May 21 now stood at approximately 35,000 for the Royal Silesian Army and 223,800 for the Imperial Army, including those who were taken prisoner.

You can say that the Royal Silesian Army is prevailing in terms of a simple comparison of the non-combatants. But from a strategic point of view, I can't say that.

The Imperial Army still has 22 divisions in the Lake Atheni Water Region, 5 reserves and a further 360 divisions on the mainland of the Empire. The Royal Army, on the other hand, has almost all the remaining 17 divisions with little leeway. If the Empire mobilizes further, the Royal Army will disintegrate.

What is more, there is also the problem of replenishment.

Without having to look at the aforementioned number of holdings, there is too much difference in national power between the Eastern Continental Empire and the Kingdom of Silesia. The difference in national power was that of the barracks, and there was also a significant difference in resilience from damage.

In order to bridge this difference, it was also concluded at the operational meeting within the Front Line Command that it would be best for the Imperial Army to recapture Fort Tartak, which is used as a bridgehead, and to isolate the Imperial Army.

On 25 May, the Royal Army activated an operation to recapture Fort Tartak by seven divisions, but this operation was so lost that it failed.

In the second Gatone-Dorgier match, the seven Royal Army divisions were unable to break down a strong defensive formation of 12 Imperial Army divisions, and eventually retreated with 4,000 damages in a three-hour battle.

But even the Imperial Army lacked an attacker. Even though my battle power difference is still favorable to the Imperial Army, the Royal Army's defenses on all fronts were not easy to break down.

In the end, even once again, it was to end in a small battle and stare. The Empire took advantage of the difference in numbers and supplies to challenge a protracted war, and it was where the economy of the Kingdom of Silesia was exhausted that it sought to reach a favourable harmony.

If it is a war of attrition, a long war, the Royal Army's disadvantage will not be spared.

The only way to overturn this disadvantage is to obtain a strategic and political victory.

It was self-evident that even if Silesia could be brought into harmony under this circumstance, it would be an unfavourable harmony if it could not be inferior to the total force and yet drive the Imperial Army out of the territory of the Kingdom of Silesia. Fewer territories may have to be ceded, but the amount of post-war compensation will be enormous.

But it is also certain that we must reconcile ourselves while we still have the power of war.

Even if I brought it into harmony after I lost my power of war, it only leaves me with the option of total submission. I can admit defeat here and say that it is still better if it is to be done with territorial devolution and compensation.

Besides, if you fought so well against the Empire and were able to bring it into harmony on such terms, it would not be reprehensible. Rather, future generations will appreciate favourably that "the Kingdom of Silesia fought well".

Princess Emilia thought so, but she couldn't accept losing.

That was simply because the princess hated losing, but there was a huge presence of one friend (Yuzef) who struggled in a distant exotic land to provide diplomatic support.

"Emilia, it's good to think, but sometimes you have to rest"

If you noticed, there was her squire martial officer in front of Emilia. Emilia, who had been thinking for hours, was unaware of the presence of this visitor. I looked out the window and the sun was already setting.

Emilia shared her thoughts with her as she mouthed the snacks and drinks Maya had brought.

"Maya. Can you win this war?

Emilia's expression looked uncommon and unsure. At least, it looked that way to Maya.

she said. That the Royal Army still cannot overshadow its strategic disadvantage, that it manages to hold on to it with a tactical victory. To say that if we bring it into harmony as it is, it is visible that that harmony becomes a treaty of surrender.

Princess Emilia told Maya everything.

Confident, and a little lonely, she said.

"I think you can win. I am."

Maya answered that with confidence, as usual. There was no slight cloud in her mouth and expression releasing the word, proving that this was a false and untrue statement.

"... I hope so"

"For His Highness Emilia, you're probably passive."

"It has to be. Because Silesia is getting worse at an accelerating rate today."

"That may be true, but tactical wins are piling up. Isn't that also possible to mask a strategic defeat?

"If we can keep fighting like this all the time, or it will be possible. But before that, the kingdom will perish."

Emilia said "doomed" in a confident tone. It means I wasn't confident about winning, and I was confident about losing.

Maya was a little surprised to hear that. Before the war, he was so confident that he planned the operation that he did not think he was the same person who ran around the king's capital.

"May I ask why?

"... what I just said is the main reason, but there's one more thing I can't pass up"

"What's that?

"… a trend in neighbouring countries"

The Kingdom of Silesia informed both the Union of Livonia Nobles and the Republic of Karlsbert "not to intervene in this war" from an informal diplomatic route against this war. But it was only informal, and still with a deadline of "three months".

Two months after the war has already begun. In other words, if we do not grasp a strategic victory with one month remaining, this war will be named the "Third Silesian Split War".

"Then don't worry."

"Diplomatic issues, rather, are getting better."

Emilia couldn't understand what Maya was saying. How could there be a diplomatic turnaround in this situation? In strategic terms, you could say you lost.

Emilia tried to ask Maya her heart, but before that, Maya acted. When she sent out a single letter from her nostalgia, she told him this as she gave it to her master.

"This is an early horse letter from Yuzef Kun of Ostmarc. Read it first."
