Bleedless battle

How deep inside imperial territory the Royal Army cavalry can penetrate in four hours is key to this cross-border operation.

If this is within Silesia, it is possible to run through more than 80 km a day if you switch horses and run without rest while receiving supplies. And that, in fact, takes place on itineraries from Leguille to the Silesia-Lasquino border zone.

But this is already imperial territory. Naturally there are no replacement horses, only supplies that are replenishing and letting the horses carry them. In this state, there's nothing else but a slow run. But if we take it too slowly, the Imperial Army Border Guard may find us. In that exquisite equilibrium, the Meisel Cavalry was proceeding, little by little, to ensure penetration into imperial territory.

Date changed, 11 June at 0: 20 AM.

I noticed one of the few female officers, Captain Sarah.

"Lieutenant Colonel Meisel. It's a group of unidentified people on the front right. Distance unknown."

"... what?

Miesel looked in the direction reported but could not find anything. The question arose as to whether it was not a mistake in her view, but it was also impossible for him to think so. Because Sarah discovered a group quite far away, albeit with moonlight.

"Captain, is that true?

"Because I don't like to lie"

"... right"

She's right, if there's some kind of group here, it's a dozen eighty-nine Imperial Armies. It is unclear whether that is a sentry or reinforcement or otherwise, but we cannot leave this behind.

"Everybody, once it stops. We'll see how it goes."

When Miesel orders the troops under the flag to do so, he disembarks once and looks forward to the right again. Now the monocular telescope is used.

And in the lens (lens) of that telescope was a bonfire and an Imperial soldier illuminated by it. I couldn't tell it from the stars because it was too far away, but it was certainly an artificial fire.

What Sarah found was a camp where Imperial Army troops were taking a temporary break.

"If you're on the horizon, it's about 4,000 miles away."

Miesel had to admire Sarah's vision. Because despite his poor vision at night, he had only the same observation as during the day.

You look good, Captain.

"No, I didn't see it. I just thought there was something there, and I peered into the telescope, and there was the Imperial Army."

"... how did you know there was something?

"It's Kang."

Meisel was stunned. Her subordinate, Sergeant Kovalski, on the other hand, has a "again" look.

"Huh. Anyway, thanks to Captain Marinovska, I was able to discover the Imperial Army. Perhaps the enemy hasn't noticed this way. Avoid this by changing course a little north. It's not a good time to be discovered by the enemy now."

But it's exactly 1: 00 a.m. The Meisel Cavalry, which changed course in the northeast direction, now discovered a small group on the move to the front. This group consists mainly of front carriages, running southwards along the streets with bonfires. And one by one I was approaching the Meisel Cavalry. There is a risk that it will be discovered as it is.

Lieutenant Colonel Meisel stopped the squad from marching again. In the meantime, explore how we should act.

There are two options he came up with.

One is to move west, that is, towards the Lasquino border, to distance ourselves from the population.

The other is to raid that group and erase the witnesses.

But whichever way you take it, there are drawbacks.

If you make the former choice, it takes extra time and distance instead of being extremely unlikely to be discovered by the enemy. You can't stay in Imperial territory for long. For the Meisel Cavalry, another danger increases.

So what if I chose the latter? In that case, the body or carriage would remain even if the group was wiped out. If they discover that, the enemy will understand that we are here. Because there were Imperial Army camps to the south, it would be early to be discovered.

When comparing the two measures, it is still the former that is less likely to be perceived by the enemy.

That's how Meisel concluded, once he redirected his troops west to try to get a distance. But there Sarah presented him with a third proposal.

"Lieutenant Colonel, let's keep going north along the streets."

"... what?

This is the second time tonight that Miesel has questioned her statement.

Keep going north and your enemies will find you. That should have been well known to Sarah herself, the tenant who found this group. Still, she advanced northward.

Miesel knew from Sarah's activism so far that she was not incompetent. That is why he questioned the sincerity of her proposal.

"This is imperial territory. Even for the enemy, it should be unexpected that we are here. If you find an unidentified cavalry, I'm sure you'll never be suspicious thinking you're on your side. No matter what, keep a minimum distance so you can't get ripped off. If you take off your horse's straw and make an obvious noise, you may mistake it for an ally."

"Hmm..."

If this succeeds, it can be infiltrated by enemies and yet imperial territory. Even if it fails, it can also be said then that Miesel will carry out the second measure contemplated, or raid. In his view, he adopted Sarah's opinion and acted in a far-fetched manner so that he could dare be swallowed by the Imperial Army.

As a result,

"Captain, can you see something like a cavalry on the front right?

"Hmm? Yeah, you'd be on my side anyway. There's no way our enemies are here, and even if they were, they'd make that noise and say, 'We're here!' Do you take such action as to declare? I'm sure Arre is, like, a cavalry of preaching to Valavillier or something. Mind your own business driving the carriage."

"Rikai"

Thus, the Meisel Cavalry was able to penetrate deep into the enemy by means of a late-night four-hour infiltration march. By around 3 a.m., when the sky began to light up a little, the cavalry succeeded in creating a temporary base in the woods at the midpoint between the border and Valavillier.
