Continental Hero Senki

Five choices

29 September. Central battlefield, Salonica.

"Additional reports from the scouts." It is estimated that a total of 15,000 enemy troops are approaching. Continue southwest down the street, heading here to Salonica '. "

It was on September 28, the day before that, that the Ostomark Imperial Army, which besieges Salonica, received reports of enemy reinforcements approaching from the northeast. Major General LifeEisen, the former commander of the Siege Army of Salonica, tried to gather information and received it earlier.

"... 15,000, no doubt?

"I'm sure the exact number will be somewhat around, but the approximate number is the same"

Major General LifeEisen, and likewise Major General Imperial Army Matheus, felt the same anxiety and doubt in the figure of 15,000 total enemy reinforcements.

"The total number of central armies caged in the eastern battlefield of Harmanli was certainly 15,000, Matheus."

"Right. But you can also clean it up with 'coincidence'"

The anxiety that the two Major Generals were feeling at this time was what this reinforcement was trying to do.

No, the purpose of the reinforcements is clear. Salonica's defense, or the rescue of the Salonica Defense Corps. Either of them.

But the problem is that the total number of reinforcements is "15,000".

"If His Excellency LifeEisen says that the Hurmanli Defense Corps is on its way to Salonica knowing that they will abandon Hurmanli and be sandwiched by our army, should I laugh?

"It's also hard to think of a unit from Micragard. That's a major military, economic and traffic shock over there. It's hard to imagine moving three brigades of Micragard garrisons in this situation where we have control of the sea."

Is the origin of this 15,000 troops Hurmanli or not? That was the problem.

If almost all of the Harmanli Garrison Guards are on their way to Salonica, that's strategically pointless.

If "we saved Salonica and failed the eastern battlefield," it could mean that Salonica would lose its supply line and starve to death.

You wouldn't think about it if you were a decent commander, such as creating such a situation.

Both LifeEisen and Matheus were aware of that.

But as LifeEisen said, reinforcements from Miklagard, or from home countries, are difficult to explain from strategic and temporal requirements.

They can be said to have gotten lost in a "meaningless" world no matter what they think.

"But the strategic requirements of enemy thinking don't matter at this time. The problem is that we found 15,000 enemy troops as a real problem. We have to figure out how to deal with this. You bet, Lord LifeEisen."

"... that's a good idea. Besides, you should leave the Hurmanli thing to His Excellency General Klein. Until we complete the life of the Salonica Assault given to us by His Highness Klein."

The Imperial Army, which besieges Salonica, has two divisions, totalling 20,000.

The opposing Salonica defense force is 10,000 and the reinforcements 15,000. Altogether, the Imperial Army is at a disadvantage at 25,000.

"There are four choices we have. Continue the Salonica siege and turn your back on reinforcements, or turn your back on Salonica against reinforcements. Do you want to split up your power and go on a two-front operation, and finally decide no win and retreat? It's one of these."

LifeEisen made four choices, but in his head the answer had already been decided. Whatever the enemy's thoughts or strategic implications, they are tactically at a numerical disadvantage.

There is no doubt that taking a two-front operation in it will be devastating damage.

If so, the choice is one.

But Matheus was not in tune with it.

"I don't think there's a fifth option."

"What? What are you talking about?

"... it's a good idea to teach a man."

"Hey."

"Just kidding."

Looking at Matheus laughing, he sighs that LifeEisen didn't sound like a joke. Actually, the problem is, this guy could do it.

But he is not so bigoted as to be able to say so earnestly in a place where life and death are at stake, it should be.

"I got word from a fucking busy kid in Crete. I thought I'd use it anyway."

"Kid? Who?

He couldn't remember what Matheus called the "kid" being. That's also supposed to happen, because LifeEisen was under siege by enemy forces when the "kid" was active, and after the siege was lifted, greetings even went there to Kermila military port.

"You forgot? He's a military adviser from Silesia."

"... ah. That young man."

"If I were a young man, there would be no boy in this world."

"... I don't know what happened, but we're talking about an operation now. What does it have to do with that military adviser?"

LifeEisen continues the operational meeting by streaming the story of the Silesian military adviser's youth, and perhaps the story below. After listening for a moment to Matheus' suggestion, he whined favourably.

"I see. You do seem to be able to 'use' it. But it will be a battle between liaison and collaboration and time. Does it need to be adjusted from around there? In the meantime, shall we start by arranging a contact ship?"

Thus, the war returns to land.
