Pwotzk Defense Battle Part 1

A conference room where firewood cracks due to fireplace fire.

It is surrounded by a different atmosphere. The cause is not the Imperial Army. He is a special guest, His Highness Emilia.

I was supposed to sit next to His Highness Emilia, who is attending an operation meeting as an observer, and explain the situation sequentially.

And it is an op-ed room surrounded by strange tensions when the royal family participates. I have often asked questions about the situation whether the person in question is aware of it or not.

An officer of the marching officer nervous about the bees reported that a cavalry reconnaissance unit in contact with the Imperial Army invasion unit had fled back only after coming into contact with enemy scouts.

I panicked because it was a totally unexpected encounter...... it was the troop leader's statement, but other than that, I feel like it's sounding less sophisticated.

So, the enemy's army is unknown?

Her Highness Emilia sighs quietly when she hears the report. I don't even know what it feels like.

If this had been a few years ago, you would have done something to capture and question enemy scouts rather than chase them.

But it seemed impossible to expect that from a scout led by a troop leader for six months of enlistment.

"That said, it's this temperature. I don't think it's possible to force a large army to lead…, and I think it's probably about three divisions based on how things are going."

"But that's 'so far', isn't it?

"... well, still, I don't think the sequels merge to force you"

It is not a hopeful observation. There is no reason for the Imperial Army to attack a hardened stronghold in the winter when the barracks are overloaded. If it seems easy to knock it off, push it, and if it doesn't seem possible, keep it to the point of harassment.

That would mean it would be effective against Silesia, where the power of the country is falling, or there would be an intention that we might be able to thin out the power of another front.

"Whatever it is, it's one thing to do. We will defend the current location with our current strength."

and the palpable thing about His Excellency Yogihes. Operational objectives are concise, but military fundamentals.

"The basic policy will be base defense using this weather and rivers. Except for the cold weather this winter, this is similar to the Torn defense battle in the civil war ahead, so some people will feel comfortable"

Though His Excellency Yogihs says so, will there be a man in this who thinks it is easy?

Rather, Your Excellency may not think so himself. Your Excellency does not wrap up any of the usual cheerful atmosphere, he is a serious face. It will be great that His Royal Highness is present, but because he understands the disadvantages on the side of the kingdom well, he can't be fooled.

"- That's why, Colonel Waresa. I don't have time to say that we are all here to argue if we are supposed to. Besides, it looks like you're up to something, so why don't you let me hear it first?

Oh, this is the usual Lord Yogihez. I want you to stop mentioning hurdles weirdly.

See, your Highness is laughing adorably when you dull on the side.

"We don't have enough measures to call it measures..."

"You're not the one to judge that. Just say it."

"Ha..."

The proposed operation, thus half-forced, is another one that disrupts this previously approved enemy supply line. The proposal was approved almost exactly as drafted, as were the amendments of the respective staff officers and the Honourable Yogihs.

His Royal Highness nodded naturally, and although His Excellency was naturally convinced, I hope you don't lift me up senseless. Because I'm scared when I stumble.

---

December 14. It was on this day that the detailed army of the Imperial Army was brought about.

"The Imperial Army has about 25,000 troops, two regular divisions and a cavalry brigade," he said.

"A cavalry brigade? That's bold again..."

It usually has about 3,000 horsemen per division.

This would mean that this Pwozk now has an Imperial Army cavalry riding 11,000 in simple calculations. Whatever, though it may not be.

"The cavalry has a higher load of barracks than the regular infantry. And yet, I didn't expect half my power to be cavalry... the Imperial Army is fancy."

"Absolutely. As much as I envy you..."

Where in the world will there be room to do that in the winter?

"But you don't know. If it's an urban strategy, the cavalry should be a useless long..."

"Are you trying to tell me they have a plan, too?

"Yes, I don't know exactly what it is, but I can think of some way to lure this main force to the plain and chase it around with enormous cavalry power..."

"But beyond this one being a war disadvantage, it will be conceivable that the enemy will not come out of our cage in Pwotzk either. I wonder what kind of measures they're going to use to fish us out?

"... I don't know"

I'll twist my head and think about it, but I still don't know.

Not to mention that the river surface is frozen, but is it a surface sturdy enough to ride horses through?

There's a bridge, but it doesn't make sense to storm with 10,000 cavalry troops just to get focused fire.

What are you thinking? Just a cavalry, doesn't seem like it.

"... you need to keep an eye on enemy cavalry movements"

"Right. What, this one hits the cavalry, too?

"Let's not. That could be the enemy's intention. This time, at the beginning, it looks good."

"But you can't just keep looking, can you? And for your operation."

Exactly. It's out of the question to stay hit. It's a defensive battle, but you should never let go of the lead.

"My lord, I suggest you leave the bridge around Pwozk intact without destroying it"

"Normally, the opposite is true. Reason?"

"It's a kind of psychological battle. We give our enemies a lot of choices to rock."

As His Excellency Yogihs put it, normally bridges break down and cut off the path of march.

But I dare to leave the bridge.

The more choices you have, the better. Rather, its multiplicity of options becomes a factor that in turn blunts the enemy's ability to think and judge.

I mean, "I thought I'd go with Operation Crossing, but there's a bridge left. Let's cross normally using bridges instead of risky crossing operations, no, but there may be traps..."

Only for what I've made you think, there's plenty of time here, and the enemy creates a gap.

"Let's keep doing some action and give our enemies a lot of information and choices. It punctuates the thoughts of the enemy's upper management."

"I don't know what we're thinking, what can I do! - And if the enemy thinks about it, is it your word? I'm sure there are some dangerous aspects to it."

It is certainly a little risky, but it is also considered to be a risk to the extent that it can be recovered.

And I can break the bridge even after I blast it. One shot at advanced magic. But building bridges isn't something you can do overnight.

I thought we should leave the bridge behind, even when we think about defense and fighting back.

"I see. Funny, and devilish."

Rude.

"Great, let's adopt your opinion. Now if my enemies dance for me, look, if they get tired of dancing for me, long live, if they don't dance for me..."

That's where the word breaks off.

The people around him, especially Chief of Staff Tarnovsky, tilted their necks and asked:

"... what if you don't dance for me?

"Easy."

With a hooly bad grin, His Eminence Yogihes speaks out.

"I'll force you to dance. On our hands."

I can't talk about people, Your Excellency.
