Chapter 1378 - 98: Trash
The flying car made its way up the academy’s back mountain trail. As the mountain rose higher, the full view of Hanjing First Military Academy gradually came into sight.
"Hmph...." Helen crossed her long, beautiful legs and glanced sideways at Fatty, puckering her lips sourly at Meiduo, "Disgusting! Can’t you talk in the car? Why do you have to hold hands and be lovey-dovey at school after getting out?"
Meiduo gave a shallow smile, wrinkled her nose, and said nothing.
Watching the broad playground, sports hall, library, and teaching buildings outside the car window, as well as the cadets hurrying by, Fatty grinned and showed a carefree, silly smile.
Saying a fond farewell to Ann Lei at the school entrance in front of everyone while sneaking glances at the envious eyes of others was this rascal’s greatest dream during his student days. Such an eccentric taste did not vanish with increasing age and status. For Fatty, the dazed looks of those cadets at the academy gate fulfilled his vanity more than medals ever could.
Just thinking about how cool he must look in others’ eyes made Fatty burst into laughter.
"What’s so funny?" Helen, annoyed, threw the papers in her hand at Fatty, "This is the list of generals from various countries coming today."
Fatty chuckled, savoring the moment, and casually wrapped his arms around Helen’s slender waist. This move was incredibly effective; once embraced by Fatty, the annoyance level on Helen’s face plummeted instantly. Although she rolled her eyes at him again, the liquid embarrassment and joy in those eyes couldn’t be concealed.
The flying car continued along the mountain road towards the depths of the back mountain.
When a large square, constructed after leveling a mountain top in the mountain valley behind, appeared in view, there was no need for the list Helen provided — Fatty already knew how many high-ranking generals of the alliance were attracted to this Mecha trial meeting.
The first thing that appeared before them was an ancient brown gate, covered with blooming jasmine on the surrounding wall. Behind the wall, a towering white building stood proudly. That was the training center building. It looked like a gigantic sports hall magnified ten times. In front of the building, the parking lot was already packed with military vehicles.
Beside the military vehicles, several generals were shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries. Countless Mechas and guard soldiers were waiting in the waiting area. Some were chatting, some polishing the vehicles, while others were maintaining the Mechas.
Such a gathering of so many military stars for a Mecha trial meeting carried a significance that couldn’t be summed up merely by the Twelfth Generation Mecha.
The black flying car stopped at the entrance of the training center.
Fatty checked the time and waited quietly.
Moments later, a Bandit Army Mecha team and convoy emerged from the shady mountain road. Quietly forming a line, they followed behind the black flying car.
The black flying car parked at the entrance had already attracted everyone’s attention.
When they saw a military vehicle with the Bandit Army logo and the unique Fatty Mecha appear at the training center entrance, the crowd immediately became agitated. The generals who were exchanging pleasantries and heading towards the building stopped in their tracks. Soldiers from various national guard teams put down their work. Even soldiers in the flying car’s base and Mecha cockpits came out.
Everyone watched the small, unremarkable convoy with curious eyes, holding their breath.
The flying car moved slowly forward. The black window and shiny exterior reflected the face of every person along the path. Surprise, curiosity, disgust, awe, disdain, joy... The people inside the car and outside, gazed at each other through the black car window.
Everyone knew that Military God Hastings, the Bandit Army, and Leefer Group’s already publicized conflict was the main theme of this Mecha trial meeting. Everyone who came here was prepared, with eyes wide open.
In the current state of war, the Fei Alliance absolutely could not allow division and failure. Therefore, this public conflict made the allied generals even more anxious. They needed to make an accurate judgment for their country and the army under them. They needed to know how severe this conflict had become. If the conflict was irreconcilable, they needed to understand which side they should stand on!
Although this hidden choice wouldn’t outwardly affect the operation of the entire Fei Alliance Joint Army, it would influence many things in the future, privately.
Perhaps it would affect an individual’s future; perhaps it would concern the life and death of an army; or perhaps, in the future, it would impact a country’s interests.
Since Hastings did not participate in this trial meeting, this was essentially a face-off between the Bandit Army and the Leefer Group.
Barbara had already reached Chuckna. The power, resources, technology, and authority she held, along with those prominent financial groups, enterprises, and politicians behind her, made her shine far more than the Bandit Army coming from Mars.
She was more capable of offering a decent price, and in fact, she was already ahead.
The generals exchanged glances, all simultaneously averting their eyes.
Many had already had contact with Barbara. That enchanting woman had already placed many stakes.
It was conceivable that if the Bandit Army could not muster sufficient stakes to gain enough support, the future Fei Alliance would experience a silent earthquake, isolating Hastings and the Bandit Army entirely.
After all, Hastings’ priority of equipping the Twelfth Generation Mecha to the Bandit Army and granting the Bandit Army special status had already left many dissatisfied.
