Chapter 247: Taking Stock of the Harvest and Returning to the Sect
In truth, the Great Abyssal Nascent Souls had long considered splitting up and creating a diversion to snatch some treasures.
But as Nascent Soul cultivators, their auras were too powerful, making them beacons in the night that were difficult to conceal.
This problem could be solved by using Magical Treasures and Secret Techniques for concealment.
But another problem was completely unsolvable.
Their opponents didn’t just have five Nascent Soul cultivators; one was at the Nascent Soul Middle Stage, and all of them were exceptionally powerful.
The remaining cultivators were all at the Golden Core Realm, but there were over eight hundred of them. An assault from all of them at once would be just as ferocious.
Therefore, they had to fight with all their might just to minimize casualties.
Besides, they were the only ones here, with three more Nascent Soul cultivators guarding the entrance. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone swooping in to steal their prize. They just needed to kill all the cultivators here, and then they could slowly plunder everything.
But they clearly never expected a complication to arise.
This filled them with resentment and killing intent toward the uninvited guest.
"Seniors, this disciple is an elder of the Cyan Cloud Sect! Please, help me hold off these cultivators from the Ten Thousand Laws Sect! I’ll be waiting for you outside."
But just then, a voice suddenly rang out from the distance.
The Nascent Soul cultivators were all stunned. Though they had countless questions, they immediately breathed a sigh of relief. They abandoned any thoughts of taking action themselves and refocused all their efforts on the Ten Thousand Laws Sect cultivators.
And this voice was, of course, from Zhang Chi. He had intentionally projected it using his powerful cultivation and the Power of his Divine Soul to mislead them and stir up trouble for both sides—especially for the Cyan Cloud Sect.
The ruse was crude and full of holes. The elderly Nascent Soul woman from the Cyan Cloud Sect was right there and would surely expose it soon.
But Zhang Chi wasn’t trying to deceive the Nascent Soul cultivators forever. He just needed to buy a little time.
And he succeeded.
In the blink of an eye, Zhang Chi was back at the Teleportation Stele. He plunged headfirst into the spatial passage.
That’s right. The spatial passage hadn’t closed yet; Zhang Chi had been too fast.
While the Secret Realm was large, that was only in relative terms; Zhang Chi could fly a round trip in no time at all.
After exiting the spatial passage, Zhang Chi was back in the ruins. He immediately charged for the cave’s exit.
Then, gritting his teeth, Zhang Chi pulled out a stack of Tier Three Forbidden-Breaking Talismans and furiously unleashed them as if they cost nothing.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A torrent of white light instantly blasted the Array’s key nodes. Unable to withstand the assault, the Array began to vibrate violently until a crack appeared. Zhang Chi immediately transformed into a streak of blood-red light and shot through the opening, vanishing over the horizon in an instant.
’Thankfully, that Array was a Tier Four Low Grade, but I’m a Tier Three Array Master, and I had more than enough Tier Three Forbidden-Breaking Talismans. Otherwise, I would have had to pass up this opportunity!’
Zhang Chi thought with relief as he flew.
Of course, he wasn’t particularly surprised that he had succeeded in breaking the Array.
After all, he had specifically inspected the Array and even performed a divination before entering the Grotto Heaven.
He simply hadn’t expected everything to go so smoothly.
’Even though I took the Earth Milk Spiritual Spring and the Profound Ice Coffin, the Grotto Heaven itself and the many other resources inside are also incredibly valuable. So, those Nascent Soul True Monarchs won’t have wasted their time.’
’Besides, if it weren’t for me, the Song Family never would have fled, and this Ten Thousand Laws Grotto Heaven would never have been revealed. My contribution was enormous, so it’s only right that I get a share. I was just taking what belonged to me.’
Zhang Chi had no qualms about his actions.
’Right, time to take stock of the haul!’
Aboard the Hidden Demon Flying Boat, Zhang Chi finally had a moment to carefully take stock of his spoils.
First were the gains from killing the members of the Song Family and two cultivators from the Ten Thousand Laws Sect. This amounted to eight Magical Treasures, all of them Low Grade and primarily from the Song Family’s Golden Core cultivators.
This was because cultivators from the Ten Thousand Laws Sect disliked using Magical Treasures.
Second, there were the Tier Three Spirit Medicines, mostly from the Ten Thousand Laws Sect’s ruins. The quantity was considerable.
While there were no particularly rare varieties, they were still quite valuable and were perfect for Zhang Chi to use for refining Tier Three Elixirs.
After that came a variety of miscellaneous items: Spirit Pills, Spirit Talismans, and Ores—a little bit of everything.
Zhang Chi estimated that in total, they could be sold for over thirty thousand Middle Grade spirit stones—a massive haul.
Of course, this was only possible because the Song Family had accumulated so much wealth over the years.
Then there were the Golden Cores, Divine Souls, and Blood Spirit Pills, all of which Zhang Chi fed to his Corpse Puppet, Demon Soul, and Spirit Beast.
While they didn’t achieve a breakthrough, their power clearly increased, bringing them a large step closer to their next advancement.
Next were the memories of the Ten Thousand Laws Sect cultivators. This was another major gain, one even more precious than physical resources.
These memories not only broadened Zhang Chi’s horizons but also allowed him to master some Magic and even Ancient Alchemy Formulas.
Once he fully absorbed the secret teachings of the Ten Thousand Laws Sect, his proficiency with Magic would see a massive improvement.
Then, he too would be able to unleash extraordinary Combat Power without relying on Magical Treasures.
Of course, Zhang Chi had no intention of emulating the Ten Thousand Laws Sect cultivators and abandoning Magical Treasures just because his Magic was powerful.
He would only treat Magic as one tool among many; he had no intention of giving up on Magical Treasures, Body Refining, or Swordsmanship.
Next were two Tier Three Peak Spirit Talismans that shimmered with a precious light: a Teleportation Talisman and a Golden Bell Talisman.
The former was for escaping, while the latter could create a Golden Bell Shield when activated. Both came from the Storage Bags of the Ten Thousand Laws Sect cultivators.
To be precise, these were actually trump cards that Lu Daoyi had given to Song Yuqian, which had then been confiscated by the Ten Thousand Laws Sect cultivators.
At the time, Song Yuqian had lacked the strength and time to activate them. Unwilling to abandon her clansmen, she had never used them, and now they had all fallen into Zhang Chi’s hands.
These two Spirit Talismans were exceptionally precious; even with an endless supply of Spirit Stones, one couldn’t buy them without the right connections.
But compared to the Profound Ice Coffin, the Earth Milk Spiritual Spring, and the Spiritual Liquid Zhang Chi had collected, these two Spirit Talismans were barely worth a mention.
The Profound Ice Coffin was an Upper Grade Magical Treasure. Although it wasn’t designed for offense or defense, it was far more precious than most that were.
However, Zhang Chi didn’t take it out to study it.
For one thing, he had no use for it at the moment.
For another, the Nascent Soul Middle Stage Sect Leader of the Ten Thousand Laws Sect probably wasn’t dead yet. If he took out this Magical Treasure, he would likely be located and tracked.
Fortunately, while he couldn’t take it out or use it now, he definitely would be able to in the future, and it might prove useful.
If worst came to worst, he could always sell it later for a large quantity of precious resources.
Finally, there were the Earth Milk Spiritual Spring and the Spiritual Liquid, which were even more precious. The spring could continuously produce Earth Milk Spirit Liquid, and the liquid he’d collected was enough for Zhang Chi to practice his Cultivation extravagantly for a very long time.
This was especially true for the Tier Four Spiritual Liquid. While he couldn’t fully refine it yet, making it less practical than the Tier Three liquid, even a tiny amount could be sold for an astronomical price—enough to make even a Nascent Soul Powerhouse see red.
Of course, Zhang Chi wouldn’t sell it. That would be too risky; it would be courting death.
Fortunately, he had a Secret Technique to preserve it, so he was in no hurry.
Having finished his inventory, Zhang Chi was in high spirits. He immediately resumed flying at top speed, periodically using the Blood Escape Technique.
Just half a month later, he secretly returned to the Cangwu Sect.
Everything at the Cangwu Sect was as it always was, because Lu Daoyi had still not returned.
In other words, when Nascent Soul Powerhouses of similar Combat Power clashed, a victor was not decided so quickly.
And even when the fighting did end, there was still the matter of dividing the spoils.
If the Great Abyssal Nascent Souls failed, they might be controlled by the powerhouses from the Ten Thousand Laws Sect. This would also lead to many other complications, all of which would take time.
