Chapter 2037 - 140: Creating a Diversion
She had spent a few days in a hospital, worked as a nurse for a few days, and knew some basic first aid.
She took off the life jacket from Xiaoliao, laid him flat on the ground, pressed down on his chest, and pushed hard a few times.
Xiaoliao spat out a big mouthful of water and coughed once.
Qin Huan immediately gave him mouth-to-mouth.
After a while, Xiaoliao’s breathing stabilized.
She took off Xiaoliao’s clothes and hung them over the fire to dry, then took off her own clothes to wrap him up and sat by the fire.
After some time, Xiaoliao woke up, saw Qin Huan, scrambled up, threw his arms around her neck, kissed her face, and called, "Mom."
As soon as he called out, he hugged Qin Huan tightly.
Qin Huan held Xiaoliao tightly in her arms.
Xiaoliao saw Xiaoqi there, but didn’t see his big brother or his dad. He pressed his lips together. "Big Brother, Dad..."
Then he suddenly burst into loud sobs.
Hearing him, Qin Huan felt miserable too.
Ever since Xiaoliao had learned to walk, he hadn’t cried again. This was the first time.
Wen Nuan stood to the side with red-rimmed eyes as well, helping to dry Xiaoliao’s clothes over the fire.
When she turned her head, she suddenly realized the Captain was gone.
She looked at Qin Huan. "Sister Huanhuan, did you see where the Captain went?"
Qin Huan looked back and didn’t see the Captain either.
A moment later, they saw the Captain coming back with another child clamped in his jaws.
From far away, they couldn’t see who it was clearly. Wen Nuan had already rushed over anxiously; seeing it was Xiaobei, she was both happy and heartsick.
Why hadn’t Xiaoshiyi and Xiaoshi’er come back?
She took Xiaobei from him, saw how bad his complexion looked and, not knowing what to do, hurriedly called to Qin Huan, "Sister Huanhuan, I’ll hold Xiaoliao, you hurry and check on Xiaobei."
Qin Huan set Xiaoliao down to one side. "Sit here and be good."
Xiaoliao nodded and sat beside her, watching as Qin Huan treated Xiaobei.
Wen Nuan took off her clothes to wrap around Xiaobei.
At a time like this, not wearing clothes—there was no room left to care about being embarrassed.
After a while, Xiaobei’s breathing stabilized, but he still didn’t wake up, and his whole body was burning hot.
Wen Nuan tore off the sleeves of her clothes, used them to lay on Xiaobei’s forehead, and to wipe his armpits and the soles of his feet.
Qin Huan looked to Wen Nuan. "You stay here and watch the kids. I’ll see if there are any fish near the shore, I’ll go catch a few."
Wen Nuan responded; this kind of thing, she didn’t know how to do.
But Sister Huanhuan had grown up in a small town and knew how to catch fish in the river.
Sure enough, before long, Qin Huan came back holding two fish. There was no way to clean them properly, so she skewered them with thin sticks and roasted them over the fire.
Once they were more or less cooked, she tore them open and fed Xiaoliao, Xiaoqi, and Xiaoshi.
The three little ones ate their fill; Wen Nuan and Qin Huan ate a little bit and left some for them.
After a while, the Captain came back again. This time, he had only a life jacket in his mouth.
Looking at that, Wen Nuan and Qin Huan couldn’t help bursting into tears. They didn’t know whose it was, and didn’t dare to imagine.
After a while, Qin Shaonan came back carrying Qiao Qiao.
Qin Shaojin came back carrying Xiaoshi’er, and Huo Jinnan dragged Jin Bo back.
Nini, Xiaoshiyi, and the little one still hadn’t been found. Yan Xiaoxi hadn’t been found either.
Huo Bei and Yu Zimu were still out searching.
The group sat around the fire in an unexpected silence.
No one had ever imagined something like this would happen. If Huo-ge hadn’t had experience, if they’d crashed into an iceberg, everyone would’ve gone down with the plane.
Qin Shaonan pressed down on Qiao Qiao’s chest to force water out; Qin Shaojin held Xiaoshiyi to warm him up; Huo Jinnan kept doing chest compressions on Jin Bo.
Wen Nuan watched over the children.
Qin Huan looked toward them. "I’ll go catch a few more fish."
As soon as she turned around, tears ran down her face. She wiped them away and walked into the shallow water at the edge of the beach.
Suddenly, pain shot through the sole of her foot, as if something sharp had stabbed into it.
