Chapter 1055: Status Has Long Since Declined

These two really are something.

Zhao Gushen misses Xiao Mo when he’s on a business trip and can’t see him, and they miss each other.

But once Zhao Gushen is back, both of them seem like they’re ready to start squabbling.

To prevent the father and son from clawing at each other’s faces on the first day of their reunion, Ye Fei quickly scooped up the little guy and said, "If you don’t wash up now, you’ll be late for kindergarten."

"I..." the little guy hadn’t finished speaking before Ye Fei nimbly lifted him off the bed.

However, the little guy has indeed gained quite a bit of weight now.

It’s not just because he’s growing.

Even Ye Fei can’t deny that the little guy has gained some weight.

Especially when staying at the old house, the little guy has really been eating quite a lot.

Plus, the grandpa and grandma are constantly competing with each other in showering him with sweet words.

Grandpa: "Our Xiao Mo is so cute."

Grandma: "Why does our Xiao Mo look thinner again?"

Grandpa: "Eat up, you’re too skinny, being too skinny isn’t nice."

Grandma: "Xiao Mo, what do you want for a night snack? Hot pot? Sure! Eat as much as you like, you aren’t fat."

Grandpa: "With our Xiao Mo’s figure, it’s practically perfect, just like the little models in magazines. If our Xiao Mo decided to be a child model, the others wouldn’t stand a chance!"

Grandma: "Xiao Mo is so impressive, never gaining weight no matter how much he eats, naturally blessed with a great figure, just outstanding!"

Grandpa: "Yeah, never gaining weight no matter how much he eats, so lucky, doesn’t have to restrict his diet to maintain his figure like many others."

Grandma: "This would make others envious to the point of tears. Giving them no chance at all!"

Grandpa: "Who else but our Xiao Mo can eat hot pot at midnight as a night snack without worrying about gaining weight."

Grandma: "Xiao Mo, go ahead and eat, you should still give others a chance."

Grandpa: "Even if you gain some weight, it won’t show."

Grandma: "Plus, you’re still growing, any weight gained is actually just your bones and height getting heavier."

And so, amidst the grandpa and grandma’s sweet bombardment, the little guy continues to eat.

The two elders are competing against each other, neither willing to let the other win.

Trying to say nicer things.

So, the little guy really doesn’t hear any truths.

Of course, the little guy hasn’t really gained much weight.

But saying he never gains weight no matter how much he eats sounds untrue to Ye Fei.

Ye Fei quickly takes the little guy to the bathroom.

The bathroom has a special wooden step for the little guy to stand on while washing up.

It’s not too high, just about the height of a regular step, so there’s no risk of the little guy stepping off and getting hurt.

To ensure the little guy’s safety, grandpa specially had someone make it using very heavy wood.

Placed steadily on the ground, it’s not easy to move.

The little guy stands on the wooden step brushing his teeth, unable to talk for a while.

While the little guy is washing up, Ye Fei goes over to his side and gets the clothes he’s supposed to wear today.

Timing it perfectly so that when the little guy finishes washing up, he’s also finished applying lotion.

Ye Fei hands him the clothes.

The little guy no longer needs Ye Fei’s help to get dressed.

He takes the clothes himself to change.

Ye Fei then tells Zhao Gushen, "I’ll take Xiao Mo to the front for breakfast, you can sleep some more."

Zhao Gushen checks the time and says, "I won’t sleep anymore; I’m coming with you. I need to go to the office too. I told Xiao Qiu to come early to pick us up, just in time to drop Xiao Mo at kindergarten."

Ye Fei gently brushes Zhao Gushen’s hair on his forehead, feeling a bit sorry: "You just got back, and you haven’t adjusted to the time difference yet. Why not rest for a day before heading to the office?"

"If I rest for a day, I might end up sleeping during the day at home and not being able to sleep at night. I better go to the office, stay awake for a day, and fix the jet lag." Zhao Gushen explains.

Though there are jet lag medicines, Zhao Gushen doesn’t like taking them.

Having frequent business trips abroad, he is somewhat experienced.

Ye Fei stops insisting.

"But make sure Xiao Qiu picks you up after work, don’t drive yourself," Ye Fei advises, "After staying awake all day, I’m worried you’ll be too tired on the way back."

"Okay," Zhao Gushen agrees.

He gets out of bed.

Ye Fei is ready to get up herself when Zhao Gushen suddenly holds her waist.

"I couldn’t get enough of hugging you earlier, Xiao Mo came along too quickly," Zhao Gushen says.

Ye Fei laughs and exhales deeply.

She feels that the little guy indeed came too soon.

The little guy doesn’t know that even his mom has had enough of him this time, let alone his dad, who always finds him a bit annoying.

Ye Fei pats Zhao Gushen: "The little guy will be done changing soon."

Zhao Gushen has to let go.

Having a child makes everything inconvenient.

If only he could put the boy back.

The little guy finishes changing and comes back unaware.

Zhao Gushen says, "You guys wait a bit, I’ll be ready soon."

Seeing this, the little guy asks Ye Fei, "Is dad not sleeping anymore?"

"Yes, he’s going to work soon, so he’ll join us for breakfast," Ye Fei says, "Today you’re going with dad, he’ll drop you off at kindergarten first."

"Great!" The little guy feels nostalgic about not having gone to kindergarten with Zhao Gushen for a while.

Before Zhao Gushen’s business trips, Ye Fei didn’t have to leave with them at home.

The little guy used to take the car with Zhao Gushen.

Zhao Gushen would first drop him at kindergarten and then drive himself to office.

Zhao Gushen quickly gets ready, taking less than ten minutes to finish up, including dressing.

So, the three of them head to the front together.

Seeing Zhao Gushen, the grandparents are surprised.

Grandma asks, "When did you get back?"

"Returned in the middle of the night, you were all asleep, even the courtyard lights were off," Zhao Gushen says.

Now the grandson’s status in the grandparents’ hearts is no longer as it once was.

He’s long been overshadowed by the little guy.

So, grandma just asked briefly and didn’t make any further comments.

Whether the business trip went well or was tiring, the grandparents didn’t even think about it.

The little guy sits at his place, and grandma first gives him a piece of fried dough: "Here, fresh and crispy."

The little guy’s small hands hold the fried dough, but it’s puffed up, and a single hand isn’t enough to grasp it.

The little guy asks grandma, "Great-grandma, am I fat?"

"No, who said you are fat?" Grandma pinches the soft flesh on the little guy’s arm, "Look at our Xiao Mo, you’re so slim, you still need to eat more."

Grandpa, not wanting to be outdone, says: "Yes, you’re still growing. I think you’ve gotten a bit taller. You’re growing so fast! You should eat more to keep up!"
