Chapter 1454 - 1452: Reflections After Annihilation

The gentleman sitting opposite Lynch took out a very exquisite small knife from his pocket, much like a letter opener, not large, but extremely delicate and refined.

He and another person, in a corner that wouldn’t affect the overall appearance, found a spot about 0.5 centimeters and scraped at it with the knife.

Though the knife looked small, it was actually very sharp.

It utilized very advanced technology and was not a product made for public sale.

As the blade gently scraped off the glossy layer outside the bone scepter, a piece of pale white bone was revealed!

Not all bones undergo jadeification, and this piece of bone hadn’t.

The person holding the letter opener scraped a bit more, and as a layer of white bone powder was peeled away, the expressions of the two people immediately changed.

Lynch keenly noticed this, "It seems like it might have some value?"

The man, snapping back to reality, was momentarily stunned and then nodded repeatedly, "Yes, Mr. Lynch, to exaggerate not at all, this...instrument of yours fills an important gap in our current theological research."

He spoke as he put away the letter opener and turned the scepter to show Lynch and Mr. Wardrick.

In the pale white bone, some golden flashes were visible to the naked eye, constantly flickering with slight changes in the observation angle.

"What is this?" Lynch asked, and incidentally took out a box of cigarettes to share with Mr. Wardrick.

The man spoke with some excitement, "This is the remnant of a god!"

"According to our research into many ancient texts, deities indeed once existed in this world. Even if humans existed in ancient times, they couldn’t have possessed a highly developed technological civilization at that time."

"The relics we’ve found from various places can also prove this point; their social and scientific systems were still primitive, which also shows they were unlikely to have spanned the seas to reach other places."

"According to the current theory we hold of continental drift, it also does not support the ’all-one’ theory..."

"The ’all-one’ theory is a version of the origin of the world, which roughly means the world was originally one whole but ultimately split into different continents due to some natural reasons."

Some people support this theory, but others do not acknowledge it. According to the records humanity currently possesses, the geography of the world hasn’t changed much over thousands of years.

It is simply impossible that in just tens of thousands of years since the birth of humanity, the world suddenly broke apart from one whole continent into several pieces!

Without sufficient evidence to support this viewpoint, people still believe that the world originally had many different continents, separated by oceans.

Some ancient texts also record it this way.

Of course, this refers to the period that can be traced back to the farthest traces of human history available; no one knows what preceded it.

Under such circumstances, ancient records across different continents all carry mythological stories that are broadly similar.

Someone created the world, someone sowed the seeds, gods started a war, and ultimately they built a high tower and left this world!

If in ancient times, human technology was insufficient to span the seas, then how did they simultaneously know about these events?

Could it be that so many people independently wanted to concoct a story, and concoct it identically?

This indirectly proves that gods might indeed have existed.

The Gate of Eternal Life has been always searching for traces of deities’ existence, and through many scientific and non-scientific means, they’ve made remarkable progress in theological research.

Now they are only missing one thing to support all their theories, and that is the remains of a deity!

According to mythological stories, those fallen deities couldn’t just disappear into thin air; they must exist somewhere.

And now, this piece of bone in Lynch’s hand very likely comes from a deity itself!

After a multitude of "popular science" explanations, the man took a deep breath, "These flickering golden lights are gold, and I believe it is of very high purity."

"In some of the data we’ve acquired, almost all of them record the same kind of saying, that is, gold is the blood of deities!"

"Our planet does not naturally produce gold, and the emergence of anything always has a reason. We’ve clarified many things but still cannot explain the origin of life or how gold was born."

"Until we found on various ancient texts that when deities fell, what they bled wasn’t blood but gold, and that’s when we realized where it comes from!"

"Mr. Lynch, this piece of bone is very important to us..."

As he spoke, he glanced at Mr. Wardrick, who immediately understood the man’s implication.

The Gate of Eternal Life is supported by the world’s top wealthy and powerful, seeking ways throughout world and history that could grant eternal life.

Now, something important, which at least could prove the possible existence of something that grants eternal life, has emerged, and the Gate of Eternal Life must obtain it at any cost!

As for where it came from, they don’t care—they only care about who has it now.

Mr. Wardrick looked at Lynch, pursed his lips, "You can make some conditions, as long as they are not overly impossible to achieve, they can fulfill them for you."

Lynch thought for a bit, "I also want to join the Gate of Eternal Life..."

Mr. Wardrick raised his eyebrows slightly, looking at the two gentlemen beside him, "But Mr. Lynch is only a level two member; he hasn’t met even our basic requirements for joining!"

The man responded swiftly, "A young man as outstanding as Mr. Lynch can already represent an era; if he isn’t qualified, then who is?"

This was agreeing to upgrade Lynch and allow him entry into the Gate of Eternal Life. A level three member can mobilize more social resources and join various small groups to gain various support and assistance.

Money is something Lynch doesn’t lack.

Power, he doesn’t lack either.

Once Mr. Truman is elected, he won’t lack power support for at least the next eight years.

Even after Mr. Truman leaves, he would have been able to sway a large number of Members of Parliament onto his own bandwagon...

So instead of money or power, it is these small organizations, which allow him to more frequently contact the world’s truths, that intrigue Lynch.

Lynch behaved very modestly, "Then I will trouble you all."

The men chuckled, "Not a trouble, it is what we should do."

He said, pausing for a moment, as his eyes fell upon the object in his hand, "Then this object..."

"I don’t know how to hold onto it; why don’t you help me keep it, I trust all of you gentlemen."

Lynch appeared very magnanimous, which earned him a lot of goodwill from the other three in the room; they felt that Lynch was indeed quite a character.

But to Lynch, it was just a bunch of pieces of bone glued together into something.

To him, this thing is neither money nor power; at best, left with him, it would be an odd collection, better handed over.

If these people took the thing and didn’t do him any favor, he might actually be even happier!

At least by being a victim, he could do some excessive things, and others’ tolerance level would be quite high!

Soon, several heavily armored, modified bulletproof cars appeared outside the door, and the bone-made instrument was properly placed in a safe.

Before leaving, the man promised Lynch that in no more than a month’s time, his status would be confirmed.

Because a level three member is also a rare and important member for the Saint Harmony Association, any addition or reduction requires extensive discussion and approval by many.

After seeing the group off, Mr. Wardrick exhaled deeply.

During this period, he felt he had aged a lot.

He wouldn’t have had such thoughts before, but now, he constantly felt old, not young anymore.

The fall of the Duncan Clan shocked him greatly!

In fact, no one could have imagined that they would fall so quickly, but everything...happened so naturally.

After substantial progress in the Paradise Island case from the first half of last year, the Duncan Clan was essentially on a countdown to destruction.

Except at that time, they might have thought, as in the past, that throwing a few scapegoats could fix the matter, and they didn’t control Horn in time and let him escape.

They also didn’t anticipate that the Federation Government’s real target behind the move against Paradise Island was the Duncan Clan.

No one could have foreseen the battle breaking out so quickly and ending just as swiftly!

So quickly that many were still waiting to see what the Duncan Clan would do, only to find out the battle was already over!

The two men returned to the room, changed all the tea sets and pastries, and after sitting down, Mr. Wardrick sighed.

He didn’t know why he sighed; perhaps it was for the demise of the Duncan Clan, perhaps because of his own aging, or perhaps because...

In any case, he sighed.

Lynch asked with a smile, "Encountered something troubling?"

He wouldn’t think Mr. Wardrick would be troubled by anything, not lacking money, and having so many friends in politics, unlike the Duncan Clan’s reckless ways.

Nothing could really trouble him, except for some internal annoyances, like Severa.

But this time Lynch guessed wrong.

"The Duncan Clan’s fall was too swift, it startled me a bit...", he honestly expressed his feelings.

If even the Duncan Clan couldn’t withstand, if one day the Federation Government really decided to target these large capitalists, would they be able to withstand the Federation Government’s offensive?

This inevitably led people to think along these lines; everyone thought capital was the master of Federation Society, but this time, they saw something even scarier!

Lynch understood what he meant, and after a bit of thought, he shook his head.

He said:
