Chapter 91: Blue Planet Called Earth
The Conjoined Buildings, or Hensel Hospital. After the Runic Gate was cleared, it was placed in maintain status by those who cleared it, just like other Runic Gates that are beneficial to humanity.
But are there Runic Gates that were unable to be cleared?
There are a few of them, and all thought about them as Unconquerable, only because they were harmful to begin with and unable to be cleared.
Now imagine a Runic Gate like those Cillian had read about in the thousands of webnovels where monsters spawned within.
It would’ve been the main central focus of this world if that were to happen.
Cillian had to be thankful that this world’s gate didn’t spawn those kinds of monsters.
However, that case wasn’t true.
The situation haven’t turned that way yet.
After talking with Mouthful Eye, when he promised to be awake for a week that he still continued to do so, Cillian discovered a lot of things about Runic Gates as he explained about being plagued by the Ruins and the Worlds.
Cillian came to know that these gates indeed spawned monsters. However, this particular world hadn’t yet experienced the hellish experience of being plagued as during the past 130 years, as it was only in the ’initial’ stages.
Mouthful Eye explained that the ongoing plague in this World had remained in its initial stage longer than any other, but that only meant the incoming Ruins would be the harshest, filled with monsters.
The incoming ones are going to be a real deal now.
And Mouthful Eye also said one thing about these gates.
-"Be prepared, the moment the initial Runic Gates have stopped appearing is the start of the next stage. It’s going to be waiting time now."
Shepherds and Runic Gates.
It felt to Cillian that things just kept coming and going without stop.
’It’s related to the current disappearances from Willow, isn’t it?’
Cillian couldn’t help but connect these two things from Willow’s and Mouthful Eye’s statements.
That’s why Cillian wanted to research Runic Gates.
But why has Aiden’s consciousness inside Mouthful Eye not been able to provide more information regarding these gates?
Put it into words, Mouthful Eye told Cillian that ’his’ subconsciousness only knew about that information regarding the gates. His full knowledge was cut off in a way.
His mission upon coming to this world is to retrieve his missing subconsciousness, and he was able to successfully do it, if that even makes any sense.
"Hey, time to work."
Mouthful Eye peeked through the pockets and complained.
"Why am I working? I hate working."
"Just follow me, will you? Who knows if you’ll suddenly awaken your lost... memories? Honestly, I don’t even know what to tell you."
"Don’t worry, I don’t know what I should do as well. The only goal I have in mind is my mission is to get those shattered consciousness back."
Cillian, who could only slightly grasp how hard Mouthful Eye’s mission by relying on his knowledge as a professional hater, sighed before they started looking around the Runic Gate.
The Conjoined Buildings were wide that what it appears on the outside is too far on the inside. Still, half of its interior structure was almost the same as the normal buildings, if not for the fact that it had strange languages attached to the walls, doors, and even some windows.
Some were glowing, while some were pulsating. The more Cillian saw the Arch Language, the more he was fascinated by how bizarre it looked. He wanted to understand its language, but if even Mouthful Eye, who hadn’t said anything about it, was not talking, then Cillian knew it would be just a useless work.
’Well, I might change my mind if I’m bored in the future. If it’s something that can be seen, then it can be studied.’
Eventually, walking around, Cillian reached towards the goal of this gate.
The Runic Gates will always have a goal, at least to the initial gates that kept coming in this world, and the goal will always be varied.
The Conjoined Buildings could be said to be one of the easiest things to clear due to its easy goal, which is to reach the end of this long place and ’heal’ an injured statue. If not for the directions put on each intersection once in a while, Cillian knew he would’ve taken a long time before reaching this place.
’Well, what a normal-looking goal.’
The goal was inside a wide-open platform with a levitating stone in the middle. The stone had an imprint of a hand of the one who cleared it that is being displayed by a holographic screen.
[Jericho Hensel]
That was the whole history of Hensel Hospital. Nothing special, just like some gates that have a low danger level threat.
"Are you actually bored right now?"
Mouthful Eye couldn’t help but complain when he noticed Cillian appearing rather unexcited. His face was rather disappointed about the simple goal of reaching the end of this gate and what seemed to be the last remains of the statue Jericho Hensel was supposed to ’heal’.
Then Mouthful Eye warned.
"I told you not to underestimate Runic Gates."
Cillian shrugged.
"I’m not underestimating them, man. Seriously. I might look disappointed now, but I know being complacent just because it hasn’t appeared yet is just going to cost me my life. Just let me be disappointed, will you? It’s a habit I picked up back on my world."
Mouthful Eye scoffed and found his words ridiculous before complaining.
"What do you mean by ’a habit you picked up back in your world’?! Did you seriously hit your head from the impact or something?"
Cillian couldn’t help but chuckle before contemplating for a while, looking at the hovering stone with a hand imprint in the middle.
Then, with a distant look, Cillian asked Mouthful Eye.
"Hey, if you are travelling through the worlds, did you happen to see a blue planet called Earth?"
It might be because Cillian was currently resting that he didn’t have anything to do, and that he had brought up this question.
Did Aiden happen to pass by Earth while he was roaming around?
Obviously, there was a low chance of that happening. Cillian didn’t have any hopes that Aiden would even answer that.
"I don’t know. Seems unfamiliar."
Aiden answered nonchalantly that Cillian’s heart, which had grown heavy at the thought, was somehow relieved.
It meant the plague of these Runic Gates was not affecting them, at the very least.
"It might’ve been destroyed already—"
"Shut up."
"What?"
"I said don’t move your fucking mouth any longer."
Cillian was just glad that his previous world wasn’t being affected by the Runic Gates, using Aiden’s experience as a traveler between Worlds. He had to believe that was the case, so he wouldn’t fill his mind with negativity.
