Chapter 152: Transfer
"The Academy will soon resume its activities. The rules that were changed over the past few weeks are currently being applied, and it might not be long until we also have to attend. The students from Viola, including us, will also need to come."
Dena shared the news with everyone, but her only target was Cillian, who might not have been aware of it.
The Sorcery Academy.
The Academy that was built in the current era following the emergence of the Runic Gates. It was a place that not only students wanted to attend but also people who wished to work there.
At first, the true purpose of this Academy was to study Sorcery, as its name suggested. They needed everyone to learn more about the Runic Gates, which were the source of Sorcery. However, as the years passed, the Great Families slowly began to influence the Academy, eventually leading to the Seven Families taking ownership of it.
Well, it was something bound to happen anyway, since, given the way history unfolded, the families were heavily invested in the construction of the Academy so that their future heirs could continue to develop their power, and that was indeed what happened.
However, the Academy could not be placed under their complete control, as doing so might cause the common people to revolt, just like what happened with the previous Emperor of the previous era, Dahlin.
The people’s power was scary, after all.
However, now that one of the Academies, along with one of the Great Families, had been attacked, the other Academies and their respective families might not be able to withstand the people’s voices.
Not because they were being controlled by them, but because their children attending the Academies might become victims of enemy attacks.
Cillian, who had already read this information and understood what Dena was hinting at by telling him, nodded.
"Are you asking if I’m going to attend or not?"
In all honesty, if Cillian had been asked the same question right after he transmigrated into this world, he would have rejected the idea of attending the Academy. Heck, he had only planned to spend his remaining years there before exploring the world and having fun after graduation.
But he had to screw that plan.
After all, Cillian had come to like going to school. However, it wasn’t because it was a place where he could flaunt his skills to others, nor was it because he had a change of heart.
The school arc was the most boring cliché plot he had ever read in novels with academy themes.
He had a solid reason why he needed to attend the Academy.
It’s because the Academy they were about to transfer to is his next target.
"It’s pretty much confirmed that we’re going to Xesie, right?"
Cillian asked as if the question were just a normal thing to ask. Dena and Dennis were both about to say something when they noticed Scott’s reaction for a brief moment. His reaction made them stop and look at him strangely.
’Is there something going on with Xesie?’
They made a mental note in their heads before each one of them had something to say. Starting was Dennis, who glanced at Scott for a few more seconds before saying.
"Pretty much confirmed is an understatement. It’s guaranteed. I’ve heard that my family is working out a deal to transfer me to that place. However, the plan was for the students from Viola to transfer there as well. The deal they were secretly working on wasn’t supposed to come out like this, so they are really surprised."
Dena, who was listening on the side, confirmed Dennis’ statements and nodded.
"I had a similar experience. However, my family took extreme measures to find out why the Xesie Family was willing to host us when doing so would only add to the already chaotic situation. First of all, us. No matter how you look at it, if students who survived Viola came to Xesie to attend their Sorcery Academy, people were bound to be scared."
Questions and doubts would resurface if accommodating the other students from Viola, whose Academy had been destroyed, put some people in distress. Some of those people might even be the students themselves.
They might not stop thinking, "Are we going to be next?" or "Will our place be destroyed soon?" even if they came with good intentions.
"Second, they are willing to help even the students’ families transfer to their city to start a new life. This is something that hasn’t been announced yet and might not be announced at all. However, they might do it secretly for those people who didn’t have much left after the Academy was destroyed and how the Viola Territory was turned into a desolate area."
When Cillian heard about it, he couldn’t help but scoff.
If they hadn’t received any help from these families over the past two weeks, not even from some of the higher authorities, especially the House of Commons and Lords, it only meant that they were going to be disregarded sooner.
For Xesie, which had also taken the same stance, bringing in the family’s students and disguising it as an act of help just smelled like trouble.
Scott, who has been listening to the whole time and watched how Cillian’s stance finding Dena’s words funny, added.
"So? What’s the result of Fritz’s research? Did you find anything at all?"
Dena nodded. The three men inside the room waited, listening to the next words that came from her mouth.
"The Lord of Xesie. It was he who pushed this idea and has been working hard for it so that everyone will get a smooth transition once the Academy resumes its operation."
’The Lord himself is moving and manipulating the things behind the scenes?’
At first, it might be hard to believe that he was the one who had carried out such a not-so-simple Academy operation. But what if that was exactly how the Lord of Xesie wanted to appear, so that their real agenda would remain hidden?
Scott and Cillian glanced at each other.
The Shepherds might’ve been the ones who had given the Lord the order to move the students to their place. Then, they would target the students they were interested in who had escaped their grasp back in Viola.
After all, there were at least two of them whom the Shepherds had taken an interest in.
The first one was Aster.
Then, there was him.
’I’m so scared.’
Cillian mused sarcastically to himself before smiling.
’Looks like we’re not the only ones who had a plan in mind.’
