Dead.

’Cillian,’ who was currently inside Arthur, was left stupefied, all his arrogance and mocking tone gone. He had felt expectant at first, beyond satisfied even when he was the one who killed Arthur, but when the cause of Viola’s destruction and the deaths of the Sparrow family members were revealed, all that remained for him was distress and shock.

He tried to process everything he was seeing, yet the truth already lay in front of him.

The Death Flag showed that if he continued to stay behind the shadows and manipulate things on the sidelines, it would eventually end in a way that Cillian had successfully killed Arthur. However, it will come at the expense of a whole city and the Sparrows.

Does he still prioritize his safety over the current family’s well-being that might come in the future? He’s not even their real family anyway.

Yes, it was logically right, but at the back of his mind, it was morally wrong.

It’s indeed correct that Raymond had nothing to do with the previous Cillian’s parents, but if he just imagined the faces of his previous parents back on Earth onto the pale faces of the corpses scattered around, which he had just seen, Raymond would never be able to take it.

He had already taken the role of Cillian, an extra, anyway. He might as well take responsibility for the people important to him rather than feeling guilty after the act was done.

That’s why...

"Stop."

Stop showing this to me, System.

I will never let these people die.

I will survive, have fun, and make sure these people close to me never end up in danger because of me.

I will do all those things altogether, so just...

"So just fucking stop fucking showing me this future that will never come."

’This will never happen.’

Cillian promised himself.

He will make his promise come true. Yet the system didn’t stop the probing.

[Death Flag Probing couldn’t be stopped while the probed death is on display.]

Then there was the real Cillian, his face contorted as he shouted at him like a crazed maniac after seeing ’Cillian’ talking to himself.

"Are you fucking crazy?!"

’Cillian’ looked at the real Cillian, who no longer had his usual calmness, and was left feeling defeated. It was probably his future self, the one who had continued working from the shadows and regretted everything in the end.

The real Cillian wasn’t having fun.

’Cillian’ watched over the real him through the eyes of the body that had destroyed everything.

It was a silent look full of pity.

"Hey, Cillian."

The real Cillian angrily glared at him, but ’Cillian’ immediately continued.

His lips curled upward in a mocking way.

"I will never let this future happen. So..."

’Thank you for showing this to me. So...’

’Cillian’ paused.

"So kill me."

Kill me and be done with it.

The real Cillian scoffed and aimed his Fireball spell directly at his face.

"Just what fuck are you blabbering about, motherfucker."

Then, he released it, cursing ’Cillian’ from where he was standing.

"Fuck you."

’Cillian’ felt the Fireball spell directly hit his face, the force and intensity visibly apparent, probably after practicing for a lot of time for his sorcery.

But it was indeed strong.

And it hurts so fucking much.

Cillian slowly opened his eyes. A piercing pain struck his head like a hammer being slammed down onto his skull, yet he never uttered a single word or made a sound.

He just stared directly at the air after coming back.

Then his gaze slowly went to the screen in front, the flag that was raised above his head.

[Death Flag]

Cillian’s flag had become a Death Flag.

"Hey, what happened?"

Mouthful Eye tried to talk with Cillian after seeing that he was done doing whatever he was doing.

Yet Cillian didn’t utter a single word. His distant eyes were devoid of any emotion, as the images of the corpses of the Sparrows kept appearing at the back of his mind.

Cillian had completely forgotten about Mouthful Eye as he slowly went to his bed, tucked his blanket up to his chin, grabbed a pillow, and tried to sleep.

Yet, Cillian was unable to do so.

Soon, his eyes that are distant turned into a nasty frown. His whole face then had been replaced with rage.

In fact, sleeping was the least of his worries as the anger within his heart didn’t subside even for a bit.

He was biting his lips so hard that they started to bleed, and the blood slid down his face and stained the sheets of his bed.

Cillian clenched his fist tightly while hugging his pillow, unable to hide his anger from Mouthful Eye, who was watching him beside him.

In the end, he wasn’t able to sleep.

...

Flowers, apples, bananas. All kinds of things that one can buy when visiting someone in the hospital were currently placed in the basket Cillian was carrying as he entered Hensel Hospital.

Wearing casual clothes, a brown polo on top, and navy blue jeans on the bottom, Cillian calmly walked inside the Hensel Hospital.

He wanted to visit someone specifically today before visiting Ella and Esther in their rooms.

Cillian knocked on the door once he reached the particular room that he had asked for from the receptionist.

That was enough to alert the person inside the room as Cillian entered without waiting for a response.

"Oh?"

Arthur tilted his head slightly to the side, seeing the unexpected visit from Cillian.

[Death Flag]

Cillian gazes at the flag above Arthur’s head for one second before letting out a warm smile.

"Arthur. Sorry for barging in without any prior notice."

Arthur, who was wearing hospital-coded clothes meant for the ill, waved his hand dismissively and replied warmly.

"Haha, I don’t mind a visit from someone, especially if it’s my patients. Though I guess today I’ve become one?"

Arthur spoke humorously, but Cillian’s cold expression began slipping through his usual composed facade. That face was even noticed by Arthur. He even felt that Cillian had been staring for too long, to the point that he had to ask about it.

"Is there something wrong, Cillian?"

After a few seconds, Cillian immediately shook his head when he realized that he had somehow stared at his face for quite longer.

’What happened yesterday is still bugging my mind. Focus up, Cillian.’

Cillian mused inwardly, feeling that he wasn’t his usual self. The only thing he could do was to let out an awkward smile.

"I’m sorry. I just had a bad nightmare yesterday."

"Oh?"

Arthur then changed the way he spoke and went back to the look and tone of a professional therapist he was famous for.

"Is that the purpose of your visit today?"

Cillian placed the basket full of fruits on his table alongside other baskets from previous visits Arthur had. Then, a soft smile appeared on his face.

"Not really."

"Then, what is it?"

Cillian looked towards Arthur’s face before revealing information that no one should know at all. Unless they are related to it.

"What do you know about the ancient ruins around Viola?"

Cillian then saw it.

Arthur’s impeccable acting of keeping his usual face and expression cracked by frowning.

This time, Cillian’s face was devoid of any emotion.

And this time, he wasn’t able to contain his emotions at all and let his wildest thoughts come into play.
