Chapter 63— Shadows of Abyss.
Chapter 63— Shadows Of Abyss.
The air inside the grand sanctum hung suspended in a fragile, razor-thin silence.
Fifty Tier-SS Imperial Executioners stood frozen near the shattered entrance, their heavy halberds and spiked shields raised in mid-formation.
At their head, Grand Inquisitor Ignis stared in utter disbelief, his blood-red broadsword vibrating with unspent anti-magic flames.
His glowing visor shifted from Empress Vaeloria’s calm, regal posture to Kaelen, who stood atop the throne steps with cool, unbothered arrogance.
"Your Majesty..." Ignis’s voice thundered through his metallic visor, tight with repressed fury and confusion.
"You command us to stand down before the very terror that erased our vanguard fleet and turned Sector 7 into a burning crater? The High Council will demand an immediate tribunal for this!"
Empress Vaeloria did not even turn her head to face her general. She took a single step down the obsidian dais, her red silk robes trailing over the marble floor as her slit golden eyes remained fixed on Kaelen.
"The High Council serves the Dragon Throne, Ignis," Vaeloria stated, her voice soft yet carrying a terrifying, absolute weight that made the armored executioners instinctively bow their heads.
"And the Throne acts in the interest of imperial survival. Lower your weapons and clear the corridor. That is an absolute decree."
Malakor’s gauntleted fists trembled against the hilt of his broadsword. For three agonizing seconds, the tension in the room spiked to a dangerous, explosive threshold.
Finally, with a harsh growl of frustration, Ignis sheathed his flaming blade with a heavy metallic clatter.
"As the Crown wills," Ignis spat bitterly. He turned on his heel, his heavy cape whipping through the air as he barked at his men.
"Guard the perimeter! No one enters the upper tier without my direct seal!"
The heavy boots of the executioners marched out of the shattered doorway, leaving the private sanctum in quiet isolation once more.

Lyra let out a soft, controlled breath beside Kaelen, her holy sword slipping back into its scabbard with a crisp click. Though the immediate physical threat had passed, her body remained alert, her shoulder pressed firmly against Kaelen’s coat.
She looked up at him, her blue eyes shining with a mixture of relief and burning admiration.
In the span of a single hour, Kaelen had navigated a mortal trap, dismantled the political leverage of an immortal empress, and forced a continent-spanning army to halt its march.
Kaelen’s long fingers gently caressed the back of Lyra’s hand before relaxing his grip slightly, though he kept her close at his side. He turned his attention back to Empress Vaeloria, his dark violet eyes gleaming with calculated authority.
"Now that your hounds are muzzled, Empress," Kaelen purred smoothly, "speak of the threat beyond your borders. What forced your empire to rush its expansion into the Central Realm with such reckless haste?"
Empress Vaeloria walked toward a high-arched balcony overlooking the vast, glittering expanse of the Vaelorian Imperial Capital.
Outside, thousands of glowing spires reached toward the night sky, but beyond the city’s magical barrier, the sky was not dark blue—it was a sickly, bruised purple, swirling with unnatural, static lightning.
"Look upon my realm, Sovereign," Vaeloria whispered, her tone stripped of its previous imperial arrogance, leaving behind a cold, heavy fatigue.
"What you see beyond our city wards is not natural weather. It is the Void Rupture."
Kaelen and Lyra walked up to the edge of the marble balcony, standing side by side beneath the starlight.
Ren stepped forward, bringing up his console to scan the horizon beyond the capital walls. His crimson eyes widened as streams of terrifying red system data flooded his interface.

"It’s not just mana decay," Ren gasped, his fingers trembling over his holographic screens.
"Something from the lower abyssal layers is eating the bedrock of this continent from underneath! The Vaelorian Empire isn’t just invading our world... they’re running away from a cosmic predator!"
Lyra leaned over the balcony railing, her brows furrowing as she sensed the foul, corrupted mana wafting from the distant horizon.
"It feels like the dark energy from the ancient war dungeons... but a thousand times denser."
"It is the Abyssal Devourer," Empress Vaeloria revealed, her golden eyes reflecting the violet flashes in the distant sky.
"An ancient entity that awoke three years ago beneath Sector 0. It feeds on spatial stability and raw mana veins.
My high archmages tried to seal it, but it swallowed three of my grand generals in a single night. That was when I realized our continent was doomed."
She turned back to face Kaelen, her silk robes rustling in the cool night wind.
"We sought to conquer the Central Realm to secure fresh, uncorrupted spatial anchors before the Devourer consumed Sector 1," Vaeloria admitted quietly.
"If we stayed, we would die. If we invaded, we survived. But you... you claim you can stabilize our core."
Kaelen stood tall against the night wind, his dark coat flaring as he looked out toward the bruised, swirling purple sky on the horizon. A dark, dangerous smile touched his lips.
"The Abyssal Devourer feeds on spatial coordinates," Kaelen said, his voice smooth and laced with absolute, terrifying confidence.
"It is an entity of consumption. But my Void Blade is an entity of absolute erasure."
He reached out, his left hand cupping Lyra’s waist once more, pulling her flush against his chest.
Lyra wrapped her arm around his waist in return, her head resting naturally against his shoulder as she looked out at the distant threat without a single trace of fear. With Kaelen by her side, even an Abyssal entity was merely another target waiting to be slain.
"You wanted a new world, Empress," Kaelen purred, his violet eyes flashing like dying stars. "Instead, I will give you back your own. But when the Devourer is erased, the Vaelorian Empire’s military forces will bow to the Sovereign’s Seal."
Empress Vaeloria looked at the man who stood before her—a warrior who treated a Tier-SSS abyssal calamity as nothing more than a temporary inconvenience. A faint, genuine smile of dark fascination touched her lips.
"If you slay the creature that eats my continent, Sovereign..." Vaeloria murmured, raising her hand to place her golden claw over her heart in a formal imperial pledge, "The Dragon Throne shall bow to no other."

Kaelen turned away from the balcony, his hand slipping down to lock firmly with Lyra’s fingers as they prepared to face the true terror of the continent.
"Ren, prepare the spatial coordinates for Sector 0," Kaelen commanded, his voice echoing with absolute authority through the grand sanctum.
"Tomorrow, we hunt a god."
