Chapter 1644: Complicated

Those countries began searching for the reclusive Lox, intending to use the excuse that "Misha, the Child of the Stars and the Hero’s former companion, had been closely involved with an evil organization, fallen into the [Catastrophe Witch], and even summoned demons" to bring the Hero back and join their side.
After the campaign against the Demon King ended, Lox parted ways with his companions, each heading on their own path.
Lox was unaware of the others’ situations, but at that time, he believed that his comrades who fought beside him for the world could never engage in any absurd acts.
This belief laid the groundwork for his subsequent decisions.
Hero Lox did not know of those countries’ plans, nor was he aware of what Misha had gone through over the years or her true intentions.
Lox was just living a peaceful life, caring for the demon girl.
This tranquility was first broken by a messenger from the Village of Heroes.
The elder from the Village of Heroes came, getting straight to the point with his intentions.
Lox candidly admitted his mistakes and confessed to the elder about killing the Hero and gaining the Power of the Brave.
The elder said nothing but let out a long sigh, informing Lox that he needed to return the Power of the Brave and the Holy Sword received.
The Power of the Brave does not kill the host and takes a long time to fully retrieve. The elder from the Village of Heroes suggested Lox live in the village until his natural death, dying as a Hero.
Lox agreed to the elder’s request; living in the Village of Heroes until death was not a bad thing. It signified that his achievements had been recognized by the village.
However, Lox hoped to bid farewell to his companions with whom he ventured before leaving.
Lox pleaded with the elder to give him some time to say goodbye to his companions one by one before proceeding to the Village of Heroes.
The elder contemplated for a while and eventually agreed to Hero Lox’s request.
During their conversation, Nanata Liu Li was nearby.
Although she didn’t hear the specific dialogue between Lox and the elder, Hero Lox later actively informed Nanata Liu Li of his decision to live in the Village of Heroes.
Lox promised Nanata Liu Li that before he departed for the Village of Heroes, he would do his best to help her find the location where the book was hidden, and then find a way to send her back to the Demon World.
Nanata Liu Li did not want Hero Lox to leave and live in the Village of Heroes just like that.
Therefore, she revealed two things: that the Power of the Brave is actually the other half of the Devil King’s Power and that demons living in the Demon World and everyone in this world are humans.
At the time, Lox, knowing nothing, naturally regarded Nanata Liu Li’s words as lies meant to keep him from leaving.
Nanata Liu Li and Lox had a big fight, choosing to leave a letter and depart without a word while Lox was preparing items.
Even though she left without saying goodbye, in her heart, Nanata Liu Li still hoped to be found by Lox, so she left some clues.
As long as Lox used those clues, he would definitely be able to find her.
No one expected that Lox never used those clues.
The officials who hoped to enlist Hero Lox found his whereabouts.
They even brought a "gift" to Hero Lox—a corpse of a demon girl...
It was Nanata Liu Li’s corpse!
While evading Lox, Nanata Liu Li was found by the army sent to "invite" Hero Lox and was eventually killed under their knives.

These emotions should not appear on the Hero’s face.
He was the Hero, and the deceased was a demon.
The complex expression lingered on Lox’s face for just a second before vanishing completely.
Hero Lox, appearing as if his heart had died, calmly engaged in conversation with the visiting General.
Long, long after, Hero Lox learned that Nanata Liu Li’s death was not an accident.
The elder who came to contact him from the Village of Heroes had overheard his conversation with Nanata Liu Li.
The Village of Heroes did not want the true truth to spill out.
So the elder cunningly led the army near Nanata Liu Li and secretly assisted them in killing her.
After Nanata Liu Li’s death, Hero Lox heard about Misha’s transformation into the Catastrophe Witch. Knowing that sooner or later, he would meet with the companions, Hero Lox ultimately agreed to come out of seclusion to see the situation.
Little did he know, this journey led him into the Abyss.
Everything was played in the palms of others.
After Misha came Amon; Lox personally resolved his two companions.
Unaware of what they carried, Lox personally sent them to their graves!
Nanata Liu Li’s death and the words she once said remained in Lox’s mind, haunting him endlessly.
Together with these events, they became Lox’s nightmares.
The only thing that comforted Hero Lox was seeing his old friend’s child growing strong, rekindling light in his eyes.
But through repeated battles, he grew more determined to live in the Village of Heroes.
Upon several urgings from the Village of Heroes’ messenger, Lox eventually distanced himself from his heart’s only warmth and went to live in the Village of Heroes.
Hero Lox never imagined that going to the Village of Heroes would only be the beginning of another nightmare for him.
