Chapter 897: When the Creator Fell Silent... She Submit!
From the moment Asmodeus entered the prison, something seemed off. He couldn’t quite put his finger on the issue until after a rush of white overwhelmed him, and he acted on pure instinct and desire.
’What the hell was that...’
He stepped back, watching Ein stare at him blankly with her large, silver eyes wide open.
There was a strangely sweet scent in the air, like summer flowers brewed into a tart and delicious tea and yet... the only one inside the room, the source of this intoxicating scent, was the pure white woman in front of him.
"What have you done?!" He grunted in an almost blind rage.
Yet Ein remained still, watching him with the same bewildered gaze.
Her pretty lips were painted crimson red by his blood.
The way it slowly dripped in a single stream, a single bead down her chin, was unbelievably picturesque. His chest tightened as blood began surging through his veins as if to burst from the deep cut inside his lip.
Snap!
With a snap of his fingers, the prison shook; the white and grey marble walls shifted as a small block lifted behind him, settling like a throne.
"???" Ein’s head tilted to the side as she watched.
Asmodeus sat comfortably on the throne, his eyes never leaving her body. He could still feel that sickly sweet scent lingering. A tingling constantly flickered in the back of his head with each breath as he watched her in silence.
"To think the mighty arbiter that almost destroyed everything I’d built three years ago now stands before me in such a disgraceful state." His eyes trailed up and down her body with a smile on his lips. This woman was a true work of perfection: the smooth curves of her muscles, the way her hips expanded, creating the most seductive shape. She looked so soft and delicious, yet dangerous at the same time. "Say, Ein... Where is your Creator now?"
Badum!
Badum!
He heard it. The thunderous beating of her heart, like a deer faced with a lion, excited her; terrified, yet seeing such emotions on her face brought the most obscene joy as Asmodeus felt his blood rushing southward.
"S-Shut up!"
Ein shook in her chains, only causing her naked figure to become even more enticing, yet it was only her damn creator who could make her react.
Asmodeus smiled at her reaction, his hands gripping the marble throne so tightly that it began to crack from the force.
"What if I don’t? He has abandoned you anyway, just like Mei."
"...Who... who is that?!"
"Oh, right." Asmodeus tapped the throne in a wave of five fingertips. "You might remember her as Funf. The first Arbiter I managed to slay; she’s now my obedient little slave."
"!!!!"
Sudden shock and aggression exploded in her silver eyes.
’Since she’s been watching us, I thought she might’ve noticed this already... has she truly not seen Mei?’
"You Fiend!!" Ein screamed at the top of her lungs, saliva drooling from her lips as she raged against the chains like a wild beast. No longer did she carry the pure, divine atmosphere that she once radiated.
"Oh my, please calm down. It’s not like you really care for each other."
He knew, from Mei’s own lips, the Arbiters weren’t that kind of group, yet somehow he couldn’t help but wonder if Ein might’ve been different.
’She sacrificed all her emotions for the greatest of powers, but now that power was swallowed by Leviathan, and by me in succession.’
Was this Ein’s true self?
Asmodeus didn’t know her well enough to answer his own question.
The woman in front of him bore almost no resemblance to the Arbiter who once gazed upon mortal lives with the detached indifference of someone observing insects beneath glass. Without the immaculate armour, without that suffocating divine aura surrounding her body, Ein seemed strangely vulnerable.
One could say she almost seemed human.
Clang!
"Funf would never submit to you."
Her voice trembled.
Asmodeus leaned against the throne, studying her carefully. "Interesting. You barely spoke before, yet now you suddenly have plenty to say."
"She would never!"
"Then ask her yourself."
Ein’s lips parted.
For the first time, the fury in her silver eyes faltered with a hint of confusion, loss, and what seemed like fear.
"...I cannot."
Asmodeus slowly crossed one leg over the other, watching her with a bemused smirk.
"Why?"
Ein’s eyes darted away from him, scanning the room before she turned away.
"Answer me."
Yet she remained silent.
His gaze drifted across her naked figure despite himself. The chains secured around her wrists held her arms above her head, naturally lifting her breasts while strands of pure white hair sat across the pale curves of her body.
’Damn it...’
That fragrance seemed stronger whenever she became agitated, as if her emotions intensified her sweat. Perhaps it wasn’t deliberate, but that made things even worse in some ways, because if she was doing it on purpose, he had reason to blame her.
"Ein."
Her silver eyes reluctantly shifted back to him while trembling ever so slightly.
"Tell me, where is your Creator now?"
Her expression changed immediately, a bizarre mix of suffering, pain and anger as she began breathing heavily, her hands yanking away from the wall, creating dark red marks around her wrists.
"I don’t know."
"You don’t know?"
Ein lowered her gaze towards her chest.
Slowly, almost unconsciously, one hand strained against the chain as though she wanted to touch something beneath her breastbone.
"He was always there."
Her voice became quieter, losing what little strength and pride she had.
"What do you mean?"
"The Creator."
Ein swallowed, as if judging whether to speak, ultimately choosing to answer his question.
"I could feel Him."
There was no hesitation when she said that word. Even stripped of everything else, her reverence remained so deeply ingrained that she couldn’t speak of the being without instinctively lowering her voice.
"Inside you?"
"Not physically."
"Then explain it."
Ein’s eyebrows knitted together.
For someone who once carried absolute certainty, she suddenly looked painfully lost.
"It was like..."
She paused.
"...standing beneath the sun."
Asmodeus listened.
"You don’t need to see the sun to know it exists. You feel its warmth, its presence, the certainty that if you opened your eyes... it would still be there."
Her breathing became uneven.
"Every Arbiter carries that presence."
"And now?"
Ein pressed her lips together.
"Nothing."
A single word, and yet somehow it carried more emotion than anything he’d ever heard from her. He leaned forward, resting his chin on one palm, enjoying this situation as the Arbiter’s mighty facade dissolved.
Something uncomfortable tightened inside Asmodeus’s chest.
’Why do I feel this way?’
He had nothing to do with this woman; what she felt or said shouldn’t affect him, and yet Asmodeus could feel that foul emotion. It lingered like tar in the back of his throat, flooding his lungs and chest with a heavy, dark ache.
To mask that shameful feeling, he bit his tongue, a foul and dark emotion brewing as he frowned at the beautiful woman before him.
He had wanted answers.
Perhaps even humiliation.
Yet watching Ein standing naked and chained before him, desperately searching inside herself for a god who no longer answered, didn’t feel nearly as satisfying as he’d imagined.
"Did he abandon you?"
"Shut up."
"You attacked my empire in his name."
"Shut up."
"You almost killed people I love."
"I said shut up!"
The chains rattled violently.
Clang!
Ein lunged forward, but without her former strength, there was nothing divine about the movement. She simply reached the end of the chains and stumbled, her breasts shaking from the sudden motion as her knees nearly buckled.
Asmodeus’s eyes dropped instinctively.
’Fuck.’
That sweet fragrance flooded his senses again.
Ein noticed the change in his pants, the way he looked at her, and her face immediately flushed.
"...Pervert."
Asmodeus looked back into her eyes and shrugged.
"You’re standing naked in front of me; what do you expect?"
"You removed my clothing... You took my powers... and locked me in here like a beast, waiting to consummate his filthy desires!"
"I asked whether you wanted clothes earlier."
"Lies! You did nothing but stare at my body like lustful filth!"
"I was simply distracted."
"By what?!"
Asmodeus stared at Ein, his lips faintly curling as Ein followed his gaze to her smooth, pale thighs, her face turning completely red.
"...You fiend...!"
Despite himself, Asmodeus laughed.
The sound seemed to confuse her.
Perhaps because he’d spent three years imagining this woman as an emotionless extension of some distant god, only to discover she could sulk, scream, blush and apparently become embarrassed rather easily.
"W-What is so amusing?" She snapped back.
Asmodeus stood. The amusement gradually faded from his face as he approached, stopping directly in front of her, much like before. Her body froze up as she stared up at him, her height no longer an advantage while her breathing became a mess.
"Because now I cannot see Ein, the arbiter, but... merely another woman in heat."
"Aaah?!"
Shlick!
With the slight flick of his fingertip along her soft crevice, translucent fluids clung to his finger like webbing.
That fragrance was almost unbearable at this distance.
The scent of her fluids carried a sweet, summer ambience, a little bitter, a little sweet and unbelievably warm.
His gaze lowered despite every attempt to remain disciplined, tracing the delicate rise of her breasts before following the smooth line of her waist and the broad curve of her hips.
’Lumina would laugh herself unconscious.’
He forced his eyes upwards.
Ein was staring directly at him as she forced herself to speak.
"Are you finished?"
Asmodeus didn’t answer immediately. His gaze lingered upon Ein’s flushed face, noticing how her earlier fury had faded into something far less familiar to either of them.
"Not quite."
Ein swallowed as he stepped closer, the chains clinking softly when she instinctively leaned backwards. "Then hurry up, Fiend... I have nothing else to tell you."
"Strange."
"What?"
"You keep calling me that, yet your body seems rather fond of this fiend."
Ein’s cheeks burned crimson.
"Y-You!"
Asmodeus laughed softly, lifting his stained fingertip before deciding against teasing her further. Somehow, seeing her embarrassed felt different now, less like humiliating an enemy and more like discovering another piece of the strange woman hidden beneath the Arbiter.
’Fuck... she’s beautiful.’
His fingers gently touched her cheek instead.
Ein froze, her pupils dilated, her eyes widened, and she struggled to breathe. Yet, each breath was so hot and fragrant when it blew against his cheek.
"What are you doing?"
"I don’t know."
"...What?"
"I just don’t understand..."
Her silver eyes widened, searching his face as his thumb brushed the remaining blood from her lower lip. She could have turned away, cursed him, even bitten his finger, yet Ein merely watched him approach.
"Y-Y-You!?"
Their noses almost touched.
Ein’s breathing trembled.
This time, Asmodeus gave her every opportunity to refuse, to bite him, to turn away, to berate him and yet...
...She didn’t.
Instead, her eyes slowly closed.
Their lips met gently, without violence or provocation; he drowned in the sweet taste of her softness, and Ein, different from expectations, returned the kiss. This time it was her tongue that slipped inside his mouth.
It was a kiss lacking the same violence as before.
The two of them stood in almost silence.
Only the sound of her uneven breaths and their saliva mixing remained as her pale hands wrapped around his large body.
Asmodeus became enthralled by her deliciously sweet scent, but he couldn’t have known that for Ein, the untouched, pristine Arbiter with no experience or defence to this sort of thing.
He also exuded an intoxicating scent that bewitched her body and drove her mad with an unquenchable thirst.
