Chapter 26: Lingering effects.
Chapter 26: Lingering effects.
Time slowly passes, as agonizing as it was.
Until the carriage came to an abrupt stop, jolting both Osborne and Natalie in their seats.
" Young master, Are you alright." Natalie checked up on Osborne.
" It’s alright, I’m fine." Osborne let out a helpless sigh and nodded.
" That idiot!" Natalie gritted her teeth and said, clearly annoyed.
" It’s getting dark so we’ll stop here for the night. Stop lazing around in there and come help me set up the camp!" The both of them heard Clawdeth voice come from outside.
" Young master, why not come out and join us. You look like you could use some fresh air." Natalie said as she got up and opened the door before turning back at him, maintaining her polite look.
Osborne nodded and got up to follow her.
But as she stepped down, Her soft furry tail brushed against his hands for a moment.
"....."
Osborne froze in his tracks, his pupils dilating.
’ No...’ he muttered, his vision shifting as if the vegitation all around him was closing in.
The bushes rustling in the wind as the sounds of countless little running feets closed in.
Osborne’s breathing began growing more and more restless, his eyes darting about in fear.
" Did you really have to be so rough~" Natalie glared at Clawdeth. " We were tasked with returning the young master to the estate, not break his bones in the process."
" Tsk~ if he’s so fragile, they would’ve told us before hand." Clawdeth grumbled. " It was just a simple bump, I don’t see what all the fuss is about."
’ Her ladyship never complained about simple things like this.’ Clawdeth said to herself, her back turned towards her comrade.
Natalie furrowed her brows, even more annoyed.
’ Huh?’ she was about to berret Clawdeth when she heard the sound of Osbornes rapid breathing, forcing her to turn around.
When she saw him struggling to catch his breath, she hurried towards him.
" Young master What’s wrong? Are you alrigh–"
" Leave me alone!!!! Get off me you furry devils!!!" Osborne pounced on her without warning, pushing her down, his hands clamped tight around her neck as he tried to choke the living daylights out of her.
" I killed you fur balls already! Just why won’t you devils die!!!!" Osborne yelled, his pupils agitated, teeth gnashing together in a frenzied manner.
" Young master, what are you doing..." Natalie stared at him confused.
But in his eyes, an abnormally large murderous rabbit was in his grasp, snarling at him with it’s bloody maw dripping with blood and saliva.
" Get off of her you animal!" Clawdeth’s eyes gleamed coldly when she saw him trying to kill her friend.
She emerged next to him in an instant before delivering a sickening kick to his side.
CRACK~
" GUAHH!" Osborne coughed up a mouthful of blood before shooting off.
BAM!
His body slammed back first onto a tree. Instantly knocking him out.
********
Rather than falling asleep.
" No no no no!!!" Tears streamed down his eyes when he found himself in the grassy plains again.
" Why is this happening again!!!" Osborne dropped to his knees, clawing madly at his hair.
CRACK~
CRACK~
His heart turned cold the moment he heard that same familiar sound of a stone shell being broken.
In the grass before him, a fluffy white rabbit quietly hopped out, before tilting it’s cute head and staring straight at him.
BAM~!
Osborne shot both hands forward in an attempt to grab it.
WEEVE~
Yet his spine turned cold when the rabbit narrowly evaded his grasp before retreating back into the grass.
CRACK~
CRACK~
CRACK~
CRACK~
Followed by it’s departure, was the constant sound of cracking stones growing by the second.
WHOOSH~
As if cheering him on, The rusted dagger emerged in his hands.
" You!" Osbornes body trembled at the sight of the dagger.
" This is all your fault!!! Why!!! Why did you bring me back here!!" He clenched it tight in his hand, veins bulging on his forehead.
Right now he was feeling just as frustrated as he was afraid. And yet, he resisted the urge to throw it away, because whether he liked it or not, the dagger was his only means of self defense right now.
SHREEIIII!!!!
The moment the first cry was heard. A murderous rabbit leaped out of the tall grass and landed on Osbornes shoulder from behind, sinking it’s wicked teeth into his shoulder.
" URRRGH!! Get off me you demon!" Osborne groaned in pain.
He unconsciously grabbed it’s coat before flinging it into the tall grass.
SKREEEIII!!!
SKREEEIII!!!
SKREEEIII!!!
But he didn’t feel any ounce of joy because the rabbits hidden in the grass continuously let out sharp cries to intimidate him.
Every fiber of his brain that remembered his first hellish death was screaming at him to run!
To run as far as his legs could take him.
But fortunately, his little bit of reason told him that if he did that, he would end up as last time, being eaten alive little by little until he finally died.
With his body trembling all over from fear, Osborne stood in the grassy plains.
Each time his ears heard running footsteps, he would turn in that direction, but with running sounds coming from every single direction, his fear only grew even more.
"....?" But while glancing about, Osborne suddenly paused and stared at his rusted dagger.
With the sounds of the murderous demons growing in the background, his grip on the dagger only grew firmer.
Thoughts soon began to cloud his mind.
Whether he really wanted to have it end this way again.
Why let them force him to endure all that pain and suffering.
Why not just...
End it himself.
SKREEEIII~!
SKREEEIII~!
SKREEEIII~!
When he saw several rabbits finally impatient from waiting, all charging at him.
He gritted his teeth and stopped hesitating.
"..!!!"
All the charging rabbits came to a stop when he suddenly drove his dagger straight into his heart.
Cough~ Cough~
Osborne coughed up a mouthful of blood before dropping on his knees.
" What’s wrong? Too scared to fight?" He laughed hysterically as the rabbits all watched him from a distance.
He secretly felt happy seeing them all stopping.
But that joy was short lived because they all began charging at him again.
