Devil's Music

72nd: Lollapalooza Festival (1)

“Professor, I... I can't really feel it, but... is it true that Mr. Santana just asked me to be on stage at the Lollapalooza Festival? ”

After everyone left, he sat down in the studio and asked Professor Sharon. Sharon nods in envy.

“That's right, Kay. You know what a Lollapalooza Festival is, right? ”

The gun nods and says quickly.

“Oh, I see. I know, but I don't know. ”

Sharon smiled and said.

“The Lollapalooza Festival started 26 years ago this year. It's a music festival with about five years of rest in the middle, but a lot of recognition. ”

Sharon gets up from his seat and approaches Gun and says,

“What's unusual is that it's not just a rock festival. Hip hop, dance, EDM. There's music of all genres that people can swing and run and play. ”

Gun looks up at Sharon, sitting in his chair.

“Really? I've seen the stage with my favorite ‘Methalica’, ‘Raige Argentine the Machine’, ‘Green Day’ and 'Red Hot Chili Peppers’ on video, but I guess there are other genres of musicians as well? ”

Sharon nods.

“Yes, last year, the white rappers Eminem and Outcast were the main stage. ”

The gun opened its eyes wide and asked.

“Yes? Eminem? You got hip-hop music? ”

Sharon smiles and says.

“It's not just hip-hop musicians-the story of Lady Gaga diving onstage in her full-body mesh stockings in 2010 is legendary. ”

The gun stutters with a surprised expression.

“Re-le. Do you have that kind of music? Can I, on that stage, be me, too? ”

Sharon's eyes darken, placing his hand on the shoulder of the gun.

“Carlos Santana, Santa's leader, chose it, Kay. Santa is the main event. Don't you know how influential the band is at 8: 00 on Saturday nights in a four-day festival from Thursday to Sunday? That's the band that picked you. ”

The gun bows and speaks with a confident tone.

“Actually, that's why I'm more worried. I hope I disappoint you. ”

Sharon shrugs his shoulder.

“It's one song anyway, right? Rob Thomas will take care of the whole vocal. Tour concerts have a history, so you'll be on your own. It's okay to ruin a song. Because unlike recording, everyone understands the little mistakes that happen on live. ”

When the gun lifts its eyes and looks at Sharon, Sharon smiles brightly.

“Well, the show is in 10 days. From the day after tomorrow, Santana's members will gather in Chicago. We're gonna go practice together, right? I'll cross with Professor Corelliano. If you show me a good performance, I'll guarantee you a score this semester. What do you think?”

The gun smiles with a slightly brighter face.

“A for me? Hehe”

Sharon twirls his index finger.

“You've already scored most of the points in Studio Classes, so guaranteed A unless you ruin the show! But if you screw it up, it's + B. O.K?”

Gun smiles at Sharon.

Two days later, Chicago Cultural Center.

The Chicago Cultural Center, which became Chicago's landmark with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, used to host art events such as music, dance and theater events, movies, lectures, and art exhibitions. Santa has been renting out the entire basement of this place for seven days before the festival as a world-class band.

He and Professor Sharon went down to the basement to enter the spectacular entrance of the Chicago Cultural Center. Underground, there were several doors along the white marble floor and the walls embroidered in various paintings. Among them, the two standing in front of the door with a faint sound of music flowing out opened the door after looking at each other.

The white room that opened inside the door was very large. In high school, there were several ‘Marshall' amps installed in a large space more than twenty times larger than the manual choir room, and Carlos Santana was sitting on a chair and checking his PRS Santana Signature guitar.

A short distance away was a five-cylinder green drum from Pearl, and a black-and-white Spaniard with a perm played eight bits, beating his head. In front of another large Emp on the left side of the drum, a short-haired black man with a bass guitar kept taking the jack off the guitar as if he didn't like it, and in front of him was a short-haired middle-aged white man who had his arms crossed and looked at him.

The first thing I noticed about Gunn and Sharon was a white blonde man. As soon as he saw Sharon, he smiled brightly, jumping with his arms spread out and hugging Sharon.

“Sharon! How long has it been? ”

Sharon sweeps the man's back.

“Rob, it's been a long time. It's been about eight years. No G&B?”

Rob lets Sharon go and makes eye contact.

“Yeah, it's still beautiful. He's not dead, Sharon. G&B can't make it this time. That's why I have to call Maria. Haha”

Sharon smiles and points at the gun.

“I see. This is Kay joining us this time. I'm a student of Julius'. ”

Rob gives you a hollow glance and extends his hand.

“Nice to meet you. Rob Thomas. ”

The gun gazes at Rob Thomas with a dazed eye, giving him a soulless hand and holding hands.

Rob Thomas? Matchbox Twenty!! It's not a dream, is it? ’

Robb smiles blankly as he looks at himself.

“Let's make it easy for them to talk. We're gonna have to practice for the next few days. Can I call you Kay? I'm Rob. ”

Although there was nothing in English that could be said as John Doe, Rob who wanted to have a friendly conversation without annoying words such as' Sir ’or‘ Please ’tapped his shoulder.

“It's not completely fixed, so don't relax. Carlos said he chose you, but if he doesn't want to be good at it, he won't. ”

Sharon smiles and says.

“Anyway, wasn't Santana close to Carlos' private band? If Mr. Carlos chooses, that's it. ”

Robb shrugs.

“Well · · · Yes. Everyone except Carlos is in a band called Santa Claus. But I have the authority to speak out against you, Sharon. ”

Sharon grins with his teeth bared.

“Well, do you want to bet you can say that after practice? ”

Rob twists his eyebrows and turns around.

“You mean Kay's that good? Sharon enough for you to admit? All right, I'll bet. If I don't say the opposite, Sharon and Kay get the dinner they want. What do you like?”

Sharon glances at the case and says,

“Kay is a Korean student… I think I saw a Korean restaurant here in North Lincoln Avenue. the traditional Korean building, the Kiwa house. ”

Robb nods.

“Yes, there is. His name would be 'Chosun Ok’. It's at Corion's barbecue, and I went with Andy once last time. ”

Sharon glanced at me and said,

“Yes, I was just passing by, but if I lose my bet today, I'll buy dinner there. ”

Robb flicks his fingers.

“Okay, if I'm against it instead, you're buying it. Kay's performance will also be absent. ”

Sharon asks with a slightly more serious face.

“Why are you being so sensitive, Rob? Did something happen? You don't normally oppose a guest vocal, do you? ”

Rob places his hands on his waist, looking over at Sharon's case, and sighs and bows.

“Yeah, I guess I was a little nervous. K. I'm sorry I didn't show up. It's a burden.”

I said it as if it wasn't a gun.

“No, Rob. If you want to do a good show, all musicians are the same. ”

Robb glances at the case, smiling bloody, and says to Sharon:

“Actually, they're going to ‘MUSE’ this time. Day one, too.”

Sharon nods.

“MUSE is a band worth Lollapalooza. So, what, you think Santa or some band is having some sort of rival ritual? ”

Rob sighs and shakes his head.

Have you heard "Time is Running out" published by Muse in 2004? ”

When Sharon shakes his head, Gun says,

“I've heard of it. The song that won the What · · · · Music video award? ”

Robb nods, looking at the case.

“Yes, I won the NME Award Best Music Video." Anyway, I was really shocked to hear that song. ”

At that moment, Carlos Santana appears behind Rob and lays his hands on his shoulder.

“Never mind. He's just a rival consciousness. ”

Gun glanced at him and said,

“Ah, Mr. Santana. It's been a few days. ”

Carlos Santana laughs.

“Rob, just take it easy on him. I'm gonna call you Kay. You can just call me Carlos. ”

With a straight face, Carlos nods.

“MUSE is the holiness of British Rock. We are called the leaders of Latin Rock. He just doesn't like the idea of Latin Rock getting pushed to British Rock. ”

Robb lowers Carlos' hand from his shoulder.

“Hey, Carlos. What do we do when we say Latin Rock is the best? The world says British Rock is the best. I'm a man who prides himself on Latin Rock's greatest music. ”

Carlos said with a look that wasn't even funny.

“No, why is he not in Latin Rock and playing the Alternative Band? Is matchbox Twenty a Latin rock band? ”

Robb raises his hands and says,

“It's just different from what I like and doing well. You think I'm just gonna leave my band behind and come as Santa Claus' guest vocalist? ”

Carlos grins and taps Rob on the shoulder, pointing his thumb behind him.

“That's enough, asshole. Why don't you go sit over there? Practicing Kay's in a hurry, so the others are waiting. ”

Rob turns around and sits on the couch in the corner with Sharon, reliving his appetite. Carlos raises his thumb while looking at the gun after putting the guitar band around his neck.

“You can do it, right? We're running out of practice, so let's focus and get it over with. I'm hungry.”

After practice that day,

Rob had to spend $800 on four band members in Chicago's shipyard, including Gun, Sharon and himself, to buy a Korean barbecue and miso stew. However, Rob's expression was very bright, moving the roasted meat to the plate next to the case consistently.
