Devil's Music

< 44Tuesday: Stalker and Orchestra and Zoo Part 13. >

The Bronx Zoo has unusually extended weekend business hours from 5: 30 p.m. to 10: 30 p.m. and received a complimentary admission again from 7 p.m. after leaving the zoo. The guests who had waited in advance waited for the animals to rest, without saying twice, waiting for dinner at a cafe or restaurant outside the zoo.

Eric and Leela received this information in advance through the website of the Bronx Zoo, so they had dinner elsewhere and arrived at the Bronx Zoo around 6: 50.

“Wow, Eric! Look at these people! I think it's from the station. There's a camera. There! There! ”

Eric also said that he was looking at Lila, who was soaring with anticipation like a child, with a delightful smile.

“Because there are so many famous people out there. But I looked at the website and I saw that Juliad Orchestra was the main performance, and the last song seemed to be about them. Do I need to see what's up ahead? ”

Leela shrugs.

“It's a well-prepared concert, and you can't just watch the last one. And there's no place for animals other than the concert hall after admission. ”

“Oh, really? Well, animals should rest at night, too, but we shouldn't harass them. ”

“Oh! They're starting to enter! Let's get in line. We have to get in a good position to get a closer look. I want to see Kay. ”

“What? You have a boyfriend with his eyes wide open, and he catches your eye? ”

“Blood, you're a star. Stars are only styles, Eric. I'm not attracted to men who are jealous of that. ”

“Geez, I can't help it if it's Kay. Handsome, really handsome. There's a lot of music.”

“Heehee, admit it, Eric, but what is this guy that reporters are interviewing? ”

“Where? Where? ”

“To the left of the entrance to the zoo. ”

You see a middle-aged man, surrounded by reporters, looking back at where Leela pointed. He was answering reporters' questions with a slightly stiff look.

Reporters tied up a bunch of microphones, gave them to a middle-aged man, and held the camera at a variety of angles. One of the journalists surrounding him asked a question.

“Norman Lebrecht. I know you don't leave the UK very well, but is it true that you are visiting the United States because of this performance?

Norman says with a polite expression.

“Yes, that's right. ”

“You acknowledged your mistake through ‘Telegraph’ after the European tour of Pantera, is this visit related to that? ”

Norman stares at the reporter for a moment. Journalists take a step back as Norman stares at himself, but push the microphone forward, holding out the answer as if it were a sure thing. Norman looks down at the microphone that is closer to his mouth.

“That's right. The fact that I didn't know Kay existed during the Panthera tour, I wrote an article in a hurry, it was revealed through 'Telegraph’. I came to America because I wanted to see firsthand the orchestral music created by the genius Kay and hear it with my own ears. ”

“You described Kay as a genius. Now, there's a controversy that only a few sexually urgent journalists would call a genius to someone who's still a student and has never released an album. Is Norman Lebrecht, also the UK's greatest critic, a genius? ”

“Yes, of course. I'd like to pass that on to the people who make that claim. You should also listen to his music and say it again. because then I'll look like I was humiliated in England. ”

“This is not just a formal performance, it's a free performance at Julius School, and it's an academic performance. What do you think of Norman? ”

The reporter who asked Norman's question stared at the reporter indifferently.

“Dr. Dre, Damien Mali, Snoop Dog and Sean Lennon are going to the school's academic performance? Is that a sane question? ”

The reporter raises his hand as he looks down, his face turning red.

“Well, that's all for now. I have to stand in line, not in designated seating. ”

When Norman left, the journalists checked their wristwatches and entered the Ur Zoo. Leela and Eric, who were watching the interview next door, join hands and talk into the zoo.

“Eric, do you know him? ”

“No, I heard it's an English critic. ”

“Yes, I heard that. Why did the British critic come to America? Are you really here to see Kay? ”

“Yeah, I guess so. That's what they say about interviews. ”

“Maybe Kay's a real genius. When the album comes out, you have to own it. ”

“Haha, yes. I'll give you your first album. ”

“Really? You promised? ”

“Haha, okay, okay. Huh? That must be the theater. ”

In front of Erik and Leela, who held hands, a circular theater appears in the middle of a huge forest. There are already a lot of people in the audience, so the midpoint can't sit in front of you, and Eric sits in the audience a little bit behind you and says,

“Wow, how many people are there? How many are there? ”

Leela sits next to Eric and says,

“Your cast is spectacular. When we came in, people kept coming after us. You're gonna get in a lot more than you do now. ”

Like Leela said, an endless crowd is coming into the outdoor venue. Lots of young couples, like Leela and Eric, and family members, were still filling the auditorium, holding the children's hands and making happy faces. Ten minutes before the concert time, all the seats were packed and there were not enough, so audiences filled the forest with people who wanted to stand behind the audience and stand next to them to see the performance.

As the noise of over 10,000 audiences grew louder and louder, the curtain that covered the stage opened. The audience saw the start of the show and began to cheer.

“Yippee!!! ”

“I've been waiting!! Let's get started!”

The stage behind the curtain was a little unusual. The seats of the performers were prepared by splitting the stage exactly in half, with two squares symmetrically arranged in the shape of blocks and empty in the middle. In front of the stage is the grand piano, and on the other side is Percussion.

About three minutes later, the conductor, Professor Alan Gilbert, arrives onstage. After stepping onto the stage and standing in the middle of the stage, Professor Alan dressed in a beautiful costume, he bowed his head and applauded. After greeting Professor Alan several times with a smile, he stood on the conductor's platform, and 80 orchestra members who were waiting behind the curtain walked out and sat down.

The audience who was watching the preparators on the stage saw the person who appeared next to the stage, and an unparalleled cheer burst out.

“Aah!!!! It's Dr. Dre!"

“Is Dr. Dre really here? Amazing!”

“He's handsome!!!! ”

Dre, wearing black trousers on a white shirt and white sneakers, raises his hand to the crowd's cheer, pays back, puts on his headphones and looks at the conductor. Professor Alan looks Dre in the eye and nods. At the conductor's platform, he turns around and looks into the audience, holding a microphone in his hand.

“Hello, I'm Julied Orchestra. ”

The musicians who were sitting behind Professor Alan, who was looking at the audience, stood up and greeted the audience.

“Wahhhh ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~”

After a short cheer and applause, the musicians sat down. Alan, who was still looking at the audience with the microphone, said.

“The first song is' From The New World 'by Antonin Leopold Dvo? ak, Symphony No. 9. ”

Professor Allen glances at the audience waiting quietly, then lays down his microphone and grabs the baton. Professor Alan turns around and looks at the musicians, slowly raising his baton and looking at where the violinists and cellists are sitting.

The sound of a violin coming from afar and the sound of a trumpet beginning as if it were a miraculous entrance to a cave into the new world wrapped around the auditorium. The small sounds of mystery combined with the background of the forest surrounding the zoo create a fantastic atmosphere. As Professor Allen's command rod pointed to the golden instrument player, all of a sudden the sound of a tuba ringing began to spread like elasticity watching the new world unfold before his eyes, and all of a sudden he could feel the tranquility of the blue field.

Having also adopted American Indian and black music characteristics, Dvorzak's music was filled with contours that were easy for the public to relate to. By choosing music for the first time that was comfortable for ordinary audiences who were unfamiliar with the orchestral music, the audience was relieving their worries that there would be a level of music they did not understand, closing their eyes, or watching it with a delightful look as a backdrop to the scenery of a spectacular venue.

Norman Lebrecht, who was staring at the Julied Orchestra playing the first song with serious eyes, folded his arms and thought.

"Is that how good Julius Orchestra was? The famous Philharmonic Orchestra is not lacking. What happened to them? This volume is perfectly reproducing the emotions of Dvorak's new world. ’

Norman shudders from his spine, but doesn't take his eyes off the orchestra. Reporters and PD from the Classical Professional Broadcasting were also staring at players with blank expressions as the camera rotated. The general audience did not know the difference, but the orchestra's singing in the ears of experts was not at a level that students could make, so it was surprising.

While playing a long song for over 30 minutes, the experts who were breathless and focused clapped as soon as the first song was over. It was a true elasticity of a different meaning than that of the general audience.

"Peek-a-boo."

“Wow ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Bravo!! ”

Professor Alan looks satisfied and turns to greet you. Professor Alan picks up the microphone and looks around the crowd.

“Next up is Tchaikovsky's violin concerto Djanjo, number 35, number one. ”

It was a night when the glorious and sad concerto of Tchaikovsky resounded in the Bronx Zoo. More than two and a half hours passed before the last song began, and many audiences were joyfully waiting for the last song. Finally, it was the order of the last song, and most of the 80 musicians who were filling up the stage greeted politely and then moved off the stage. On the stage, only about 30 musicians greeted the man, and even Professor Alan, who was in charge.

As you get downstairs to the conductor, Norman Lebrecht tilts his head slightly.

“The orchestra controls the number of musicians as needed, but why go down to the conductor? ”

Ordinary audiences were also frantic and loud. And the curtain, which was walking on either side of the stage, slowly closed. Even though the last song was still left, the noise of the audience increased as the stage was closing.
