Chapter 495: Kneel Down to You
Zhou Wushang burst out laughing on the street, drawing a large crowd of onlookers.
Many people pointed at Chu Qingyun and his companions, and a constant stream of rumors and malicious gossip reached their ears.
Joining a sect was a dream come true for many.
From their perspective, seeing Chu Qingyun's group fail to get in was a perfect opportunity to gloat.
Faced with all the gossip, the rims of Mu Xiaoxiao's eyes turned red.
It was, admittedly, a lot for a young woman to bear.
This only made Zhou Wushang's expression grow even more smug.
'Oppose me? I'll make sure you won't even know what hit you!'
"Mu Xiaoxiao, what are the consequences for attacking someone inside Celestial Martial City?" By now, even Chu Qingyun was starting to lose his patience.
Back there, he had been powerless against Martial Emperor and Martial King Level experts, so he could only endure.
But for this Zhou Wushang, a mere seventh-level Martial Spirit, to dare prance around in front of him like this… it was absolutely intolerable!
Chu Qingyun's Martial Arts Realm had just broken through to the sixth-level Martial Spirit.
When he was a Fifth-level Martial Spirit, he could kill a seventh-level Martial Spirit in a single strike. Now that he had advanced another level, dealing with one would be utterly effortless!
Mu Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment, then said with a catch in her voice, "Just forget it. Celestial Martial City isn't like the Blood-soaked Land. Besides, Zhou Wushang has the Saint Extreme Sect backing him... I'll be fine…"
'The Saint Extreme Sect…'
A cold smirk suddenly lifted the corners of Chu Qingyun's lips.
"You mentioned the Celestial Martial City Pill Battle Conference before. You should know where to register, right? Take me there," Chu Qingyun said quietly.
Mu Xiaoxiao looked startled. "Why are we going there? Don't tell me you're actually…"
"Don't overthink it. Just take me there," Chu Qingyun said.
Mu Xiaoxiao nodded and led Chu Qingyun ahead.
She had spent the last two days exploring Celestial Martial City, so she knew where the registration for the Pill Battle Conference was located.
Seeing the three of them walk away, Zhou Wushang was naturally not about to let things go so easily.
Putting aside the fact that Zhou Jianxiong had told him to keep an eye on Chu Qingyun, he himself wanted to humiliate them to his heart's content to vent the frustration he'd built up in the Blood Sect ruins.
In the Blood Sect ruins, it had clearly been his own stupidity and cowardice, yet he had shifted all the blame and resentment onto Chu Qingyun and his companions.
Zhou Wushang laughed loudly as he followed, relentlessly hurling insults and mockery at Chu Qingyun's group.
This, of course, attracted even more onlookers. Many of them even followed the group, starting to place bets on how long it would take before Chu Qingyun couldn't take it anymore and attacked Zhou Wushang.
Of course, the vast majority of people believed Chu Qingyun wouldn't dare to make a move.
After all, Zhou Wushang had produced his Saint Extreme Sect Token, proving he was a genuine Sect Disciple.
Along the way, Mu Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Qingyun and suddenly whispered, "Chu Qingyun, I'm sorry. This is all my fault. If I hadn't joked around and offended Zhou Wushang back then, none of this would be happening."
Chu Qingyun smiled. "This has nothing to do with you. Don't worry about it."
Mu Xiaoxiao hesitated, then continued, "Chu Qingyun, if… if we can't get into the sect, and if you're willing, I can take you somewhere. It's not as good as a sect, but I can guarantee they would use all their resources to train you."
After she finished speaking, a strange look of anticipation appeared in her eyes.
"Don't worry," Chu Qingyun said with great confidence. "I'll make sure all three of us get into the Saint Extreme Sect. In fact, I'll make them beg us to join."
Mu Xiaoxiao bit her lip and nodded, not saying anything else.
And for some reason, she felt a pang of disappointment in her heart.
Soon, Chu Qingyun's group arrived at the registration site for the Celestial Martial City Pill Battle Conference. Trailing behind them were Zhou Wushang's group of three, and behind them, an even larger crowd of gawkers.
When he saw Chu Qingyun's group stop there, Zhou Wushang froze for a moment.
Then, he couldn't stop himself from bursting into wild laughter again. "Chu Qingyun, don't tell me you're actually planning to participate in the Celestial Martial City Pill Battle Conference?"
"I've seen your Martial Soul, and Mu Xiaoxiao's. Neither of you could be an Alchemist!"
"Don't tell me... you're going to say that simpleton is an Alchemist?! HAHAHA…"
At his words, even more people in the surrounding crowd roared with laughter.
The path of an Alchemist was an incredibly noble and difficult one. Even those with talent and a fire-attribute Martial Soul weren't guaranteed to become a true Alchemist, to say nothing of a simpleton.
Of course, if they knew that Dai had already touched the threshold of the realm of Intent, they probably wouldn't be laughing.
"Of course Dai isn't an Alchemist," Chu Qingyun said, looking at Zhou Wushang with a calm expression. "I'm the one who's here to register."
"You?"
"Chu Qingyun, if you manage to register successfully, I'll get down on my knees for you right here and now!"
Zhou Wushang said, laughing maniacally.
He had been provoking and taunting them the entire way, and their complete lack of response had inflated his ego to the breaking point.
He blurted out the wager without a second thought.
"Alright, Zhou Wushang. A deal's a deal. I'll hold you to that." Chu Qingyun shot him a glance before leading Mu Xiaoxiao and Dai inside.
However, someone at the entrance stopped them. "Only one person at a time. Whoever is registering may enter."
Besides Mu Xiaoxiao and Dai, there was a whole crowd of people behind Chu Qingyun. They obviously couldn't let everyone in, or it would be chaos.
"Mu Xiaoxiao, Dai, wait here. I'm going in to register," Chu Qingyun said before walking inside.
The Celestial Martial City Pill Battle Conference was a grand event for the younger generation of Alchemists. Not even Zhou Wushang dared to act out of line here, so he could only wait obediently outside.
However, when he saw Chu Qingyun's nonchalant expression, a flicker of panic inexplicably ignited in Zhou Wushang's heart. 'This guy… he can't possibly be a real Alchemist, can he?'
But he immediately shook his head vigorously.
'Impossible. That guy's Martial Soul is just an Iron Thread Ten-Star Vine Martial Soul. It's not a fire-attribute Martial Soul at all, so there's no way he could be an Alchemist!'
'He's just putting on an act. Yes, that must be it!'
After entering the registration area, Chu Qingyun found it was nothing like he had imagined. There was hardly anyone there; the place seemed completely deserted.
In the vast hall, there were only two people at a reception desk, chatting idly out of boredom.
