Chapter 434: Killing Tu Qiang
Chu Qingyun unleashed his Thunder Sword Momentum.
A blindingly brilliant bolt of lightning slammed into the Wolf King with immense power, the sudden flash drawing everyone’s eyes.
Everyone, the Wolf King included, was momentarily blinded.
But the attack hadn’t harmed a single hair on the Wolf King.
However, by the time they looked for Chu Qingyun again, he had vanished...
’This... that damned bastard set us up...’
Everyone couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
’He lured over a monster on par with the Celestial Spirit Realm, and then he just had to hit it on his way out. He’s not just screwing us over, he’s getting us all killed!’
The Wolf King’s entire body was trembling slightly. Its pair of lurid green eyes swept menacingly over the humans, clearly suppressing an immense rage.
"Ahem," Lord Ming said at that moment. "Everyone, remain calm. It’s just a single Wolf King. With over a hundred of us at the Earth Spirit Realm, we have nothing to fear from this beast."
Truth be told, he was inwardly feeling a little pleased.
’Since Chu Qingyun acted this way, it must mean he hasn’t given up on that sword of Tu Qiang’s. Which means I still have a chance to kill him!’
But before Lord Ming could even finish speaking, cluster after cluster of lurid green lights suddenly ignited in the dark forest surrounding them.
One by one, powerfully built Black-Maned Demon Wolves emerged from the forest.
They weren’t just emerging from the depths of the forest—Demon Wolves appeared from the opposite side and the flanks as well.
Their primal hunting instincts took over, and the pack naturally moved to encircle the humans.
"Oh god, oh god! So many Black-Maned Demon Wolves! Run, run for your lives!"
A Level 4 Martial Spirit couldn’t bear it any longer. Any one of these wolves was stronger than him. With a great shout, he turned and fled.
His movement instantly shattered the brief moment of peace.
The Wolf King howled and was the first to strike. In a flash, it lunged at a Fifth-level Martial Spirit and, with one swipe of its claws, tore the man’s entire upper body to shreds.
The other Demon Wolves also let out long howls and lunged at the humans before them, and the slaughter began.
As Tier Three Demon Beasts, they had not yet achieved sapience. They couldn’t comprehend that they were being used. All they knew was their current fury, and that its source was the humans!
The Wolf King unleashed its full power. It was like a giant war chariot, grinding all humans in its path to a pulp.
The other Demon Wolves also largely held the upper hand. A dozen or so of the largest among them held their own even against Level 6 Martial Spirits, not giving an inch.
The entire area was filled with the whistle of various Primordial Powers and Soul Techniques. The air rang with an unending chorus of human screams and wolf howls. The battle was exceptionally brutal from the very first clash.
The humans were at a disadvantage from the very start.
If not for the desperate resistance of a few Level 6 Martial Spirits, the Black-Maned Demon Wolves would have routed them long ago. Still, at this rate, a total rout and annihilation was only a matter of time.
Yet, there was one exception amidst the chaos: Lord Ming.
Even when the immensely powerful Black-Maned Demon Wolves raked their claws across his body, they could only leave a few red marks. At most, their blows could only knock him back a couple of steps.
Lord Ming, however, could slay an adult Black-Maned Demon Wolf with a single, casual strike.
His exceptional performance quickly drew the attention of the Black-Maned Demon Wolf King. A ferocious light flared in its eyes as it opened its bloody maw wide and pounced on Lord Ming, engaging him in a fierce battle.
The Wolf King’s strength was comparable to a Celestial Spirit Realm expert. With everyone else at the Earth Spirit Realm, it was undoubtedly the most powerful being present.
But Lord Ming was an extremely special existence within the Martial Soul Hall. Moreover, his own Realm had already reached Level 6 Martial Spirit, only a single step away from the Celestial Spirit Realm.
The two clashed furiously, and it was impossible to tell who had the upper hand.
Every punch, every palm strike, and even every Elemental Power Soul Technique from Lord Ming shattered the Wolf King’s fur and tore its flesh.
But the Wolf King’s claws and fangs were also able to breach Lord Ming’s defenses, leaving him covered in wounds and constantly leaking Martial Soul Power.
’A familiar feeling... Martial Soul Power so mixed its color is indistinct... Just as I thought! This guy was also created from the fusion of many Martial Souls!’
Chu Qingyun watched comfortably from his hiding spot in a nearby tree. Seeing the Martial Soul Power leaking from Lord Ming’s body only served to confirm his suspicions about the man’s origin.
’There’s just one thing I don’t get. If they have the same origin, why was that other monster so disgusting and mindless, while Lord Ming seems perfectly normal?’
After watching for another moment, Chu Qingyun decided the time was right. He slipped out of the forest, ready to make his move.
When Tu Qiang escaped from Chu Qingyun, he had eight Level 6 Martial Spirit subordinates remaining. Two died at Lord Ming’s hands, leaving only six.
In the short time it took to resist the Demon Wolves and protect Tu Qiang, another two of his men had died in the wolves’ maws. The last two were now locked in a fierce battle with the Black-Maned Demon Wolves nearby.
They seemed to have realized that the Black-Maned Demon Wolves’ victory was assured; it was only a matter of time.
And so, the last two Level 6 Martial Spirits seized their opportunity. While Lord Ming and the Wolf King were locked in battle with no time to spare for them, they flanked Tu Qiang and made a break for it.
"Iron Thread Ten-Star Vine!"
"Thunder Light Sword Qi!"
Chu Qingyun suddenly burst from the nearby forest. Ten vines shot out, binding one of the Level 6 Martial Spirits, and in the next instant, before the man could break free, a single sword strike killed him.
"It’s you, Chu Qingyun!"
The remaining Level 6 Martial Spirit and Tu Qiang were both startled. They felt a chill shoot up from the soles of their feet to the crown of their heads, and cold sweat beaded on their brows.
’This god of slaughter is back!’
Hearing someone shout Chu Qingyun’s name, Lord Ming instantly snapped his head around to look.
Upon seeing Chu Qingyun, his eyes lit up, and he was just about to charge over. However, the Black-Maned Demon Wolf King opened its maw and fired a blast of black light at Lord Ming, forcing him back on the defensive.
"Shadow Splitting Clone Skill!"
With the powerful Lord Ming eyeing him menacingly, Chu Qingyun didn’t dare waste time. He immediately used his Shadow Splitting Clone Skill to immobilize the remaining Level 6 Martial Spirit and then cut him down with another sword strike.
Tu Qiang, standing to the side, was scared witless.
He finally understood why his bodyguards had seemed possessed earlier, just standing there while Chu Qingyun cut them down.
Chu Qingyun’s shadow had actually split away from his feet!
Before Tu Qiang could even react, Chu Qingyun pierced him through the heart. The sharp Qi of the Thunder Light Sword Qi instantly shredded his heart to pieces.
After killing Tu Qiang, Chu Qingyun reached out and took the longsword hanging from his waist.
After a moment’s thought, Chu Qingyun swung his sword again, severing Tu Qiang’s head. He grabbed it and quickly departed, rushing into the darkness of the forest.
