Chapter 2634 - 2635: A Sudden Idea

Fortune Full Building, open for special purposes, had a traditionally dressed waiter at its entrance, smiling politely as he inquired about each guest’s invitation.

Feng Yuan handed over his meal voucher in confusion, thinking there was a private banquet happening. However, he was told that the meal voucher itself was the invitation, at least for this period during which Fortune Full Building was only open to guests with a voucher.

As for purchasing the meal voucher? The staff didn’t know if it was possible as there seemed to be no public sales window for such vouchers.

Due to its exclusive operations, the interior of Fortune Full Building felt somewhat deserted. Although waiters were steadfastly in position, there were still fewer people dining here.

"Not many people are here, the atmosphere feels lacking."

Glancing at the relatively empty hall, Feng Yuan casually complained, resulting in a nearby waiter approaching with a slight bow and asking,

"Dear guest, would you like to experience a lively dining atmosphere? We can arrange for specialized services without disturbing the other guests, we can..."

"No, no need, I was just saying casually."

Embarrassed, Feng Yuan hadn’t expected Fortune Full Building to offer ambiance-setting services. Veronia beside him snickered, while Dou Yanlan commented somewhat helplessly,

"Fortune Full Building is famed for its extreme service, reportedly providing any service that doesn’t disrupt public order, you should try it."

"Nah, I’m afraid I’d start floating with no way to come down."

With a chuckle, Feng Yuan half-seriously said. He wouldn’t be overwhelmed by emperor-like services; he just didn’t want them. Having experienced it, after the initial novelty wore off, only endless emptiness remained, for it was a false show, and seeing through it would only make everyone around seem utterly hypocritical, even if it was his own request.

"Let’s go with a private room, let me see, for dishes... the golden dumplings? Reminds me of that shop near our school back then. Sadly, not sure if I’ll get to have it after all this is over."

Flipping through the adjusted menu, Feng Yuan nostalgically remarked upon seeing a familiar dish photo. With the outbreak of war, that shop selling the glistening dumplings naturally ceased operations.

Even due to repeated attacks, Feng Yuan wasn’t sure if that shop would ever reopen one day.

"It should be fine, we didn’t suffer many casualties in Maomu City, they shouldn’t be that unlucky."

Qi Chen’s uncertain response made Feng Yuan shake his head. While adjusting the menu, Feng Yuan commented,

"Luck is indeed elusive, but what can you do?"

"If all else fails, time travel wouldn’t be the worst solution."

The reason Feng Yuan was not overly upset was that he could jump back in time, to a period before the war began, to eat those glistening dumplings. Moreover, due to his Unique Throughout Time trait, the possibility of disturbing the Time River was extremely low; he couldn’t meet his other selves even if he returned multiple times.

"As long as you have a way."

Looking speechlessly at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen was left silent. After all, time traveling to eat was something only Feng Yuan could do; even the Divine Beasts wouldn’t traverse time for mere cravings.

But indeed, it was a good solution. Because the past existed, even if it disappeared in the future, returning to its existence seemed unchanged?

Yet Qi Chen didn’t know, Feng Yuan could pull this off, but not even Agunas dared attempt it. Agunas wasn’t Unique Throughout Time, so repeatedly appearing at a specific time and place would result in multiple Agunas acting simultaneously.

This would directly trigger the Time River’s self-correction, causing massive turmoil, which is exactly why Agunas and its kind avoided it.

Just for a meal, causing a major upheaval in the Time River; they certainly weren’t that insane.

"That should be it."

Returning the menu to the waiter, Feng Yuan and his group followed their guide to the private room. Veronia, in her human form, glanced at the closed door and said,

"Despite practically revamping the entire menu, why bother with the hassle?"

"Some just prefer simplicity; since there’s no overcharging, why worry?"

Understanding Veronia’s point, Feng Yuan casually responded. To him, the menu wasn’t entirely useless. If there wasn’t anything particular to crave, having it served as is without customization would suffice.

Moreover, the menu wasn’t like the typical hotel’s; it stipulated the timing and sequence. Meals were served following the preset order.

This made the menu essential; without it, one might accidentally order dessert before the main course.

"The dishes might be too many; I wonder if Xiao Ji and the others can help finish it."

Staring at the lengthy menu, Feng Yuan looked at Xiao Ji and the others, to which Qi Chen quipped,

"Why didn’t you reduce the dishes?"

"Haha, just wanted to try them all. If not, we can always pack it to go, there’s no prohibition on that, hm?"

As the compartment door was pushed open, Feng Yuan was momentarily surprised, then remarked with amusement,

"This is certainly a unique approach."

An octopus-like Spirit Beast crawled in from outside, using four tentacles to support a tray of food while the other four limbs moved across the floor.

It didn’t approach the table; instead, with a gentle push of its limb, the tray floated onto the table. Qi Chen’s astonished gaze stayed on the octopus until it left the room and closed the door.

"A Spirit Beast, indeed a special one—Shallow-Dwelling Octopus. I didn’t expect them to employ such a Spirit Beast as a server, but in a way, it’s quite fitting."

Glancing at the appetizers on the table, Feng Yuan casually remarked. Seeing Qi Chen’s puzzled expression, Dou Yanlan explained,

"The Shallow-Dwelling Octopus is a water-dwelling Spirit Beast, but it can live out of the water. However, it becomes blind and deaf without water, relying solely on their unique ink to guide them."

"Not truly blind, just unable to see beyond half a meter, and indeed losing hearing; perception is limited to one meter, but ink sensing is unrestricted."

Picking up an appetizer, Feng Yuan added after looking at Dou Yanlan. The innate traits of the Shallow-Dwelling Octopus made it unlikely to inadvertently hear or see anything it shouldn’t.

This was crucial to establishments like Fortune Full Building. Besides, Spirit Beast servers provided an appealing spectacle unless mishaps occurred.

"So, about the Qi Realm Stance of the Shallow-Dwelling Octopus, might it be unusual?"

Recalling clichéd portrayals of octopuses in some works, Feng Yuan remarked with an odd expression. Qi Chen curiously asked,

"Why? Are you interested in the Shallow-Dwelling Octopus?"

Xiao Ji stared warily at Feng Yuan, ready to get upset if his answer wasn’t satisfactory.

"A bit."

Nodding, Feng Yuan hadn’t noticed Xiao Ji’s look. Dou Yanlan asked, puzzled,

"The Shallow-Dwelling Octopus lacks combat power and special abilities. Why are you interested?"

"Haha, just remembered that octopuses symbolize something special in some cultural works~"

Dou Yanlan blushed and turned away silently, while Qi Chen unexpectedly remarked,

"I doubt such improper notions exist?"

"What improper notions? Deep-Sea Monsters are ugly and twisted, but not improper, right?"

"Deep-Sea Monsters? You mean those horror stories?"

"What else could it be?"

Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan remarked speechlessly. He knew what Qi Chen imagined, but that wasn’t his intention. In some tales, octopuses often represented specific roles; Feng Yuan was curious if the Qi Realm Stance would reflect such stereotypes.

"There shouldn’t be any distinct changes, right? The Qi Realm Stance isn’t quite that subjective."

Qi Chen replied slightly unsure, as both playful images and deep-sea demons seemed unlikely. After all, their summoned beasts’ Qi Realm Stances appeared normal.

"Haha, suddenly thought of it, but no way to try it."

Though speaking as such, Veronia felt that if given a chance, Feng Yuan might indeed try it.
