Chapter 487: Greeting at the City Gate

Despite his doubts, Lin Yun agreed. He told Luo Feng he would set out for Wind City first thing tomorrow morning, but he wanted to bring He Yuntian, Bai Zhicheng, and another Core Disciple named Zhou Wen with him.

"Fine. You can command any of Flawless Palace’s disciples as you see fit. After all, you’re the Greatest Senior Brother of Flawless Palace now. They’ll listen to whatever you say. I’ll speak with the Punishment Hall," Luo Feng replied without hesitation.

With that, Luo Feng stood up and left, leaving Lin Yun with one parting instruction: find the organization’s stronghold in Wind City as quickly as possible.

Watching his master’s retreating back, Lin Yun shook his head with a wry smile. Every time, Luo Feng would just casually drop a line, and he would be the one stuck with the hot potato.

’So be it.’ Shaking his head with a helpless smile, Lin Yun summoned a Direct Disciple and told him to inform He Yuntian, Bai Zhicheng, and Zhou Wen that they would be going to Wind City with him tomorrow.

The more that was revealed about this mysterious organization, the more Lin Yun felt it was far from simple. Being able to establish a stronghold right under the nose of Flawless Palace was proof enough of the organization’s power.

’Just who in the world are they?’ Lin Yun muttered to himself, his interest in the mysterious organization’s origins growing.

Meanwhile, inside an extremely inconspicuous house in Wind City, a young woman sat on a chair. Judging by her posture and appearance, she was clearly out of place.

The young woman sat on the chair with her eyes closed, resting. Before long, there were three rhythmic knocks at the door, and a figure completely cloaked in black entered.

"Milady, everything has been taken care of. That person has been eliminated," the black-clothed figure said respectfully to the young woman.

Upon hearing this, the young woman slowly opened her eyes. As her face came into view, she was revealed to be none other than Guang Xuanji, the one who was formerly by Gong Lingqi’s side.

With a faint smile, Guang Xuanji said coolly, "A job well done."

After she spoke, Guang Xuanji pondered for a moment before saying to the black-clothed figure, "You must be extremely careful during this period. Your identity must not be exposed, no matter what. Everything you do must prioritize maintaining your cover. Understand?"

"Yes," the black-clothed figure replied.

Hearing the reply, Guang Xuanji waved her hand dismissively. Seeing the gesture, the figure respectfully withdrew from the room.

After the figure left, Guang Xuanji stood up and stretched lazily, her charming and delicate figure revealed for a moment. Alone in the empty room, she chuckled, "Heh heh, Luo Feng. I’d like to see just who you’ll send to Wind City this time."

Who would have thought that Guang Xuanji was in Wind City at this very moment? Ever since the incident with Chang Jing was exposed, her identity could no longer be concealed. However, by the time Flawless Palace began searching for Guang Xuanji, she had already vanished without a trace. It was unthinkable that she would now turn up in Wind City.

The night passed in silence. Early the next morning, He Yuntian, Bai Zhicheng, and Zhou Wen were already waiting in Lin Yun’s courtyard. Once Lin Yun finished his daily compulsory training, the four of them left Flawless Palace and headed straight for Wind City.

"Zhou Wen, what’s the status of the task I gave you?" Lin Yun asked as they traveled.

Hearing Lin Yun’s question, Zhou Wen replied confidently, "Greatest Senior Brother, rest assured. The people I dispatched left long ago. They will definitely reach Wind City before we do."

"Good. But remember, their identities must not be exposed. Don’t even tell the Bai Family about them," Lin Yun reminded him.

"Yes, I understand," Zhou Wen nodded.

Speaking of Zhou Wen, Lin Yun hadn’t known him well before. It was only during the recent expedition to the Saint’s Relics that Lin Yun had taken notice of him.

Among the Ten Core Disciples, if you were to ask who was the most ordinary, everyone would say Zhou Wen. Ordinary looks, an ordinary voice—everything about Zhou Wen seemed unremarkable. Even his Combat Power was merely average among the Core Disciples.

However, this very ordinary person possessed an ability that no one else did: his talent for tracking and surveillance.

Perhaps it was precisely because of how unremarkable he was that no one ever noticed his presence, making it nearly impossible for his targets to realize they were being tracked or watched by him.

More importantly, not only was Zhou Wen himself exceptionally skilled in tracking and surveillance, but the twenty Direct Disciples under him were also masters of the Tracking Technique.

The people Lin Yun had asked about were, in fact, these twenty Direct Disciples that Zhou Wen had personally trained.

Lin Yun had sent them into Wind City ahead of time to operate undercover, ready to help him keep a close watch on important and suspicious individuals.

It was precisely because of this ability that Lin Yun had insisted on bringing Zhou Wen. In the upcoming mission in Wind City, his role would likely prove even more crucial than that of He Yuntian and Bai Zhicheng.

The four traveled without rest and finally arrived at the gates of Wind City by evening. Since they had made no effort to conceal their approach, representatives from all of Wind City’s major families were already there.

Bai Ling from the Bai Family, the He Family Master—a crowd of over a hundred people had gathered at Wind City’s North Gate. It was clear at a glance that they were waiting for a very important person.

Nearly every one of these hundred-plus people was a patriarch from one of Wind City’s families. Such a lineup naturally stunned the Martial Artists entering and exiting the city. ’Who could be coming that would require all the Patriarchs of Wind City to wait for them in person? Could it be some VIP from Flawless Palace?’

Curious onlookers gathered at a distance, wondering just who this person could be.

"Which VIP do you think is gracing Wind City with their presence? To even make Patriarch Bai and Patriarch He come out and wait."

"Who knows? But it must be a big shot from Flawless Palace. Someone at the Level of a Main Seat Elder, at the very least."

The curious onlookers chatted amongst themselves in small groups. Just then, four figures flew over from the distance. As they watched the four approach, smiles appeared on the faces of the assembled family patriarchs.

"They’re here..." someone said.

As Lin Yun landed before the gate of Wind City, Bai Ling immediately stepped forward with a smile. "Young Master Lin, I have prepared a banquet to welcome you and wash away the dust of your journey."

"That’s right, Young Master Lin. It’s been a long journey. You must have a few drinks with us tonight," Patriarch He chimed in.

Following behind Bai Ling and Patriarch He, the patriarchs from all of Wind City’s families, large and small, greeted Lin Yun with reverence.

What was Lin Yun’s status now? Although it had only been a little over a month since his last visit to Wind City, the Lin Yun of today was a world apart from who he was back then.

Greatest Senior Brother of Flawless Palace and the sixth-ranked Demon Fiend of the Eastern Domain. These two titles alone were enough to make these patriarchs bow and scrape before him.

Watching Lin Yun, some of the spectating Martial Artists in the crowd naturally recognized him. His fame had been spreading like wildfire among the Eastern Domain Martial Artists lately, so finding out what he looked like was not difficult.

"It’s Lin Yun! The Greatest Senior Brother of Flawless Palace, the sixth Demon Fiend of the Eastern Domain!" someone exclaimed.

"No wonder the family patriarchs all came out to greet him," someone else chimed in. "But looking at Young Master Lin, he can’t even be thirty, can he?"
