Chapter 573: Escape (Part 1)
Lin Yun’s combat power, resilience, and physical strength far surpassed the Taiqing Academy Director’s expectations. If Wei Yunhang hadn’t broken through to the Celestial Spirit Realm Great Success stage, he likely wouldn’t have been a match for Lin Yun.
This was a battle between Demon Fiends. Although Wei Yunhang’s cultivation was one small realm higher than Lin Yun’s, he could only fight him to a standstill.
"Was it really worth it? To kill one Qin Feng, we’ve lost so many disciples and offended a Demon Fiend with a limitless future," one of the Supreme Elders spoke up.
Hearing this, the Taiqing Academy Director said nothing. He couldn’t afford to casually offend someone with the status of a Supreme Elder.
Now that things had come to this, even the Supreme Elders and Main Seat Elders of the Taiqing Academy felt the price was too high. Throughout it all, Qin Feng’s master remained completely silent, not uttering a single word even when Wei Yunhang severed his disciple’s arm.
The upper echelons of Taiqing Academy were forbidden from interfering—a joint decision by the Six Supreme Elders that not even the Taiqing Academy Director could defy. This rule was to ensure the Director wouldn’t attack Lin Yun himself.
Lin Yun was completely unaware of the events in the Main Hall. He was already reaching his limit, and the side effects of the Blood Burst Pill were beginning to manifest.
Having single-handedly killed hundreds of Taiqing Academy’s Inner Sect Disciples, more than ten Direct Disciples, and one Core Disciple, Lin Yun’s entire body was now covered in wounds.
Leaning on his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear for support, Lin Yun’s condition was even worse than before. Only his eyes remained unchanged, glaring at the crowd of Taiqing Academy disciples, still brimming with murderous intent.
Just then, Little Ape, who had been fighting Wei Yunhang, was struck down by a slash of his sword. Its ten-meter-tall body crashed heavily to the ground not far from Lin Yun.
Dust billowed up, swallowing Little Ape’s form. Wei Yunhang then landed in front of Lin Yun, his own killing intent surging to its absolute peak as he stared at him.
"Lin Yun, you’re a spent force. It ends here," Wei Yunhang said coldly.
Just as the words left Wei Yunhang’s mouth, a roar came from where Little Ape had fallen. Like Lin Yun, it was covered in wounds, and its tall, sturdy body trembled as it staggered back to its feet.
Its eyes, fixed on Wei Yunhang, burned with crimson killing intent.
"Hmph, you beast. Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll grant your wish." Wei Yunhang snorted. Just as he was about to attack Little Ape, the cry of a Firebird echoed from the distant sky.
Hearing the cry, Lin Yun knew that He Yuntian and the others had arrived. At the same time, everyone inside the stone house drew their Spirit Soldiers.
"Brothers and sisters, now is our time to fight! No matter what happens, we must ensure Lin Yun gets away safely," Lu Bingning declared, her voice firm as she looked at the others.
Everyone nodded. After meditating and recuperating for so long, they had their injuries under control. At the very least, they were in much better shape than Lin Yun and Little Ape.
Soon, two Firebirds flew into view from the horizon, with He Yuntian and Bai Zhicheng each riding one.
Even from a great distance, the two were shocked by the scene in the main square. The bodies of hundreds of Taiqing Academy disciples were strewn haphazardly in front of Lin Yun, while hundreds more had him completely surrounded.
And Lin Yun stood in the center of them all, drenched in blood. He appeared to be fatally wounded, yet not a single Taiqing Academy disciple dared to approach.
As the Firebirds approached the main square, Wei Yunhang’s eyes narrowed. He knew he absolutely could not let Lin Yun mount one; with a Firebird’s speed, he would never be able to catch him.
"Lin Yun...!" With a furious roar, Wei Yunhang charged straight for him without another word.
Lin Yun had almost no strength left to resist Wei Yunhang’s attack. But at that exact moment, the door to the stone house behind him suddenly burst open. Lu Bingning and Lan Xi rushed out first, charging directly at Wei Yunhang to intercept him.
Led by Lu Bingning and Lan Xi, the other disciples of Flawless Palace surged out and formed a protective circle around Lin Yun. Seeing this, the Taiqing Academy disciples immediately attacked the newcomers.
"Bingning! Lan Xi...!" Seeing the two of them about to take on Wei Yunhang, Lin Yun called out feebly.
Just then, as they had planned, Qin Feng appeared at Lin Yun’s side. He called out to Little Ape, who instantly shrank to the size of a fist and leaped onto Lin Yun’s shoulder.
Grabbing Lin Yun by the shoulder, Qin Feng leaped into the air, carrying him onto the back of a Firebird.
After being carried onto the Firebird’s back by Qin Feng, Lin Yun watched Lu Bingning and Lan Xi locked in fierce battle with Wei Yunhang below, along with Mo Qingliu and the other Flawless Palace disciples. Enduring the intense pain, Lin Yun shouted.
"Bingning! Lan Xi! Qingliu! They’re not on yet...! I have to go save them."
Hearing Lin Yun’s words, He Yuntian and Bai Zhicheng leaped off the Firebird’s back without a second thought. He Yuntian threw himself into the battle, helping the Flawless Palace disciples fend off the attacks from the Taiqing Academy disciples.
As for Bai Zhicheng, he instantly located Mo Qingliu, grabbed him without a word, and flew back onto the Firebird.
Once back on the Firebird, Bai Zhicheng completely ignored Lin Yun’s protests and immediately commanded the Firebird to fly at full speed.
With a sharp cry, the Firebird, urged on by Bai Zhicheng, flew rapidly away from the Taiqing Academy, carrying Lin Yun, Qin Feng, Little Ape, Mo Qingliu, and the two injured Direct Disciples from Flawless Palace.
"Bai Zhicheng, what are you doing?! Go back! Bingning and Lan Xi still aren’t on board...!" Lin Yun roared furiously at Bai Zhicheng, fighting through the pain.
Completely ignoring Lin Yun’s furious roars, the Firebird picked up speed, leaving the main square behind in the blink of an eye.
"Bai Zhicheng, I told you to stop! Go back...!" Lin Yun tried to stand, but the slightest movement sent a shock through his body, making him feel as if he would fall apart. He couldn’t muster any strength at all.
Lin Yun kept roaring at Bai Zhicheng. Finally, Bai Zhicheng replied in a low voice, "Senior Brother Lin, you can’t die. I’m sure our two senior sisters would feel the same way."
Forced to watch helplessly as Lin Yun escaped the main square, Wei Yunhang knew he could never catch the Firebird. He turned his ice-cold gaze on Lu Bingning and Lan Xi, who had blocked his path. The monstrous killing intent boiling in his heart made him completely disregard the two women’s beauty.
They had successfully held off Wei Yunhang long enough for Lin Yun to escape, but in doing so, both Lu Bingning and Lan Xi had been struck by his sword. Each now had a wound on her abdomen, her clothes stained red with blood.
"Lin Yun escaped, but you two are his women. I think I’ll find out what it feels like to have Lin Yun’s women pinned beneath me," Wei Yunhang said, his face twisting into a savage expression.
After that long battle, Lin Yun’s monstrous power had already solidified Wei Yunhang’s resolve to kill him. Now, forced to watch him escape, Wei Yunhang knew without a doubt that Lin Yun would become his greatest enemy. With things having come to this, Wei Yunhang’s mind became completely warped—and considering the beauty of Lu Bingning and Lan Xi...
