Chapter 447: The Eastern Domain is Shaken
After briefing the Core Disciples on the matter of the Saint’s Relics, Luo Feng forbade any future infighting among them. He then dismissed the crowd, telling them to await further notice from the Palace.
Once the crowd had dispersed, Luo Feng turned to the five Supreme Elders beside him. "Elders, with the emergence of the Saint’s Relics, I fear the Eastern Domain is in for another tremor."
"Heh," the old woman chuckled. "The last time a Saint’s Relics appeared, that young lady, Caiyi, was the one to obtain its prize. Who could have imagined it would turn out to be the inheritance of the Blood Slaughter Saint?"
It wasn’t just Flawless Palace. News of the Saint’s Relics’ appearance spread like wildfire through the great powers of the Eastern Domain, even faster than word of the battle Luo Feng and the others had fought in Jincheng.
In the Taiching Hall, seven elders were seated in a circle. One of them spoke up, "The Saint’s Relics has emerged. A fierce struggle is inevitable."
"Of course," another replied. "The importance of the Saint’s Relics is self-evident. No one will willingly give up this chance."
It wasn’t just Taiqing Academy. The Wuji Sect, Spiritual Light Pavilion, Celestial Eagle Valley, and even the Death Row Shelter all dispatched their Spirit Realm experts to the Spiritless Wilderness.
Notably, in the Main Hall of Celestial Eagle Valley, Tang Wushuang and Lin Jianhong were seated flanking Du Ying. Tang Wushuang had grown even colder and more arrogant than before, his eyes as sharp as a falcon’s. His aura revealed that he had reached Celestial Spirit Realm Minor Achievement.
Du Ying glanced at Tang Wushuang and Lin Jianhong, a smile touching his lips. "With the appearance of the Saint’s Relics, I will deploy both of Celestial Eagle Valley’s great Demon Fiends. We will make our enemies pay a price in blood."
At Du Ying’s words, neither Tang Wushuang nor Lin Jianhong spoke. They glanced at each other, and a flicker of killing intent flashed in their eyes.
Clearly, both felt that Celestial Eagle Valley had no need for two Demon Fiends. This was especially true for Lin Jianhong, who already felt threatened by Tang Wushuang’s rise.
After leaving the Main Hall, Lin Yun went straight to find Lu Bingning and her companion to tell them the news about the Saint’s Relics.
The two women were ecstatic at the news. If they could obtain a Saint’s inheritance, their future path of cultivation would be much smoother, and their Combat Power would advance by leaps and bounds.
"Alright, you two just wait patiently for the next few days. There will definitely be spots for Direct Disciples," Lin Yun said to them with a smile. He naturally hoped they could obtain a Saint’s inheritance, but knew it was easier said than done. The eyes of the entire Eastern Domain were now fixed on the Spiritless Wilderness.
A Supreme Elder had been dispatched to investigate. Until news returned, Lin Yun could only wait patiently within Flawless Palace.
Two days passed. On this day, after finishing his session in the Hundredfold Gravity Cultivation Chamber and taking a medicinal bath, Lin Yun did not practice any Martial Skills. Instead, he once again made his way to the Bamboo Courtyard within the bamboo grove.
As if he already knew Lin Yun was coming, the old man spoke before he could even knock. "Come in, little fellow."
At his word, Lin Yun entered the Bamboo Courtyard and sat cross-legged on the cushion before the old man. The two of them sat facing one another. The old man wasn’t playing his instrument today. Between them, as always, were the bamboo table and a few bamboo cups.
"Little fellow, what brings you to see me today?" the old man asked with a smile, pouring Lin Yun a cup of tea.
"Nothing in particular. I just wanted to chat with you, Senior. I feel at peace when I’m here with you," Lin Yun replied with a faint smile, speaking his mind freely without any pretense.
Hearing this, the old man laughed freely. "You kid, you’re quite the frank one. I like that. Much better than most young people nowadays."
As he chatted with the old man in the Bamboo Courtyard, Lin Yun found that every casual phrase the old man uttered gave him much to reflect upon.
At the same time Lin Yun was entering the Bamboo Courtyard, Luo Feng and the five Supreme Elders were in the Main Hall discussing the Saint’s Relics. When they heard that Lin Yun had entered the Bamboo Courtyard, all five Supreme Elders were startled.
"That boy went to the Elder Master’s place?"
Hearing the five Supreme Elders, Luo Feng just smiled dismissively. "My dear Elders, if Lin Yun was able to enter the Bamboo Courtyard, it is because Grandmaster allowed it. Otherwise, with Grandmaster’s Great Power, Lin Yun could search that bamboo forest his entire life and never find him. Since Grandmaster has willed it so, he must have his reasons. There’s no need for you all to be so surprised. Let’s get back to discussing the Saint’s Relics."
"Mm. If it is the Elder Master’s choice, then we need not concern ourselves," one of the Supreme Elders said.
The six of them then resumed their discussion about the Saint’s Relics. The newly appeared relics were quite strange. The Supreme Elder who had just arrived in the Spiritless Wilderness had immediately sent back a report.
The Saint’s Relics had indeed emerged, but its perimeter was covered in Restrictions left by the Saint. A mysterious Power of Rules was blocking everyone’s entry.
This Supreme Elder had joined forces with the Spirit Realm experts from the other Five Great Forces to try and blast through the Restrictions, but they had failed despite numerous attempts.
Ultimately, after a detailed investigation, the Spirit Realm experts from the various powers concluded that the Saint’s Relics was under a specific kind of Restriction: anyone with a Cultivation exceeding the Celestial Spirit Realm could not enter.
"No one above the Celestial Spirit Realm can enter? Doesn’t that mean none of us can go in?" a Supreme Elder said, annoyed.
"The methods of a Saint are beyond our comprehension. Cultivation-limiting Restrictions like this aren’t unheard of in a Saint’s Relics. For now, we should focus on how to contend for the inheritance within," another Supreme Elder stated.
If Spirit Realm experts were barred, then they could only dispatch Main Seat Elders and the young geniuses. Sending Inner Sect Disciples or ordinary Elders would be useless—they would be nothing more than cannon fodder.
As they discussed how to acquire the inheritance from the Saint’s Relics, a disagreement arose among the six of them.
Luo Feng and three of the Supreme Elders argued against sending the Main Seat Elders. They believed it was better to send in some of the young geniuses to try their luck, viewing it as a trial for them. After all, every Main Seat Elder was a precious asset to Flawless Palace.
However, the other two Supreme Elders saw things differently. They believed they should rely on the Main Seat Elders. Without any Spirit Realm experts, the Main Seat Elders would be the strongest individuals inside the relics. Sending them would offer a greater chance of securing the inheritance.
"Elders, a Saint’s inheritance isn’t awarded based on who is strongest," Luo Feng argued. "A Saint’s successor must be personally chosen. If we send in the Main Seat Elders, never mind the risk of casualties, their age alone makes it highly unlikely they would gain the Saint’s favor."
"That may be so, but Flawless Palace currently has no one who can stand against the Five Great Demon Fiends. Without a Main Seat Elder to hold down the fort inside the relics, we would have no chance at all! What’s the use of talking about winning a Saint’s favor then?" one of the Supreme Elders who supported sending them retorted.
The six of them argued back and forth in the Main Hall, unable to reach an agreement.
