After learning that the entire Chen Family had been annihilated, Chang Jing demanded in disbelief, "The Chen Family... they’re all dead?"

The news was too horrifying. Even the Direct Disciple who came to report it hadn’t believed it at first. Seeing Chang Jing’s agitated state, the man was momentarily too stunned to reply.

"I’m asking you, are all the members of the Chen Family dead?" When he received no answer, Chang Jing demanded furiously.

"They’re... they’re all dead, Senior Brother Chang. It’s the absolute truth. From Patriarch Chen down to the servants, not a single person from the Chen Family was spared," the Direct Disciple stammered in reply.

"What about the men I sent?" Chang Jing asked next.

"They’ve vanished. It’s like they evaporated into thin air. We can’t find their bodies or any sign of them..." the man replied.

Hearing this news, Chang Jing collapsed limply into his chair. He waved a hand, dismissing the man.

’Chang Jing had never imagined Lin Yun would be so decisive. An entire family... wiped out just like that. In his mind, he had always thought Lin Yun was just using the Chen Family to threaten the girl. He never dreamed Lin Yun would directly slaughter them all.’

Although there was no evidence to prove Lin Yun was responsible, anyone who wasn’t a fool could guess that this was his doing, given the timing.

Only Chang Jing remained in the room. Just then, a figure appeared bizarrely in his room. It was a woman—none other than Guang Xuanji, one of Gong Lingqi’s attendants.

"What are you doing here?" Seeing Guang Xuanji, Chang Jing wasn’t flustered. They seemed to have known each other for a long time. He simply asked in a flat tone.

Hearing this, Guang Xuanji smiled faintly. "I came to tell you that you probably can’t stay in Flawless Palace any longer. Your only option now is to return to the organization."

"Why? Just because Lin Yun slaughtered the Chen Family?" Hearing Guang Xuanji’s words, Chang Jing asked, confused.

"It’s simple. Because all the evidence now points to you as the one who massacred the Chen Family. You think that girl won’t betray you? After a blood feud like this, do you really think she’ll remain loyal?" Guang Xuanji said coolly.

Hearing this, Chang Jing said in disbelief, "Impossible! What evidence could Lin Yun have? I haven’t left Flawless Palace at all. Everyone knows that. What could he possibly use to prove I was the one who massacred the Chen Family?"

"I am here only to relay the Young Mistress’s instructions. Whether you believe it or act on it is entirely up to you." Ignoring Chang Jing’s outburst, Guang Xuanji finished speaking and once again bizarrely vanished on the spot.

If Lin Yun were to witness Guang Xuanji’s phantom-like abilities, he would probably doubt that she was merely a Qi Sea Realm Martial Artist.

Chang Jing’s expression was grim. ’Is it really as Guang Xuanji said? Is leaving Flawless Palace my only way out?’

Meanwhile, as dawn broke over Flawless Palace, the two Direct Disciples who had just returned overnight brought the sole survivor of the Chen Family, a young boy, to Lin Yun’s courtyard.

Looking at the six- or seven-year-old boy before him, Lin Yun felt a pang of remorse. However, having already come to terms with his actions the night before, he quickly adjusted his mindset and led the boy to the Inner Sect Disciple’s residential area.

The living quarters for Inner Sect Disciples were naturally not as comfortable as those for Direct Disciples. Each Inner Sect Disciple only had a single room, unlike the private courtyards afforded to Direct Disciples.

Arriving before a very ordinary room, Lin Yun gestured for the two Direct Disciples to watch the boy, then entered the room alone.

This was where he was holding the girl. Lin Yun had hidden her here, and Chang Jing had yet to find her.

Seeing Lin Yun enter, the girl, who was sitting in a chair with her Cultivation completely sealed, gave a cold smile. "Senior Brother Lin Yun, you can save your breath. I’m not going to help you."

"I didn’t come here to ask for your help. I came to tell you something," Lin Yun said calmly, sitting down across from her.

"Last night, the Chen Family of Wind City was annihilated. From the Patriarch down to the servants, over a hundred people in total, all slaughtered."

As soon as Lin Yun said this, the girl’s cold smile froze on her face. She stared blankly at Lin Yun. After a long moment, she suddenly lunged forward like a madwoman and grabbed him by the collar.

"You’re lying, aren’t you? You’re lying to me!"

"I’m not lying," Lin Yun said coolly, not stopping her from grabbing him.

Lin Yun didn’t look like he was joking at all. Slowly, the girl released him and collapsed to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

Without disturbing her, Lin Yun simply sat in his chair and watched her quietly. After about fifteen minutes of heartbreaking sobs, the girl looked up again. Her eyes were now filled with killing intent as she stared at Lin Yun, her voice icy.

"It was you, wasn’t it? You had my family killed! It was you... You did this..." As she spoke, the girl became agitated again, tearing at Lin Yun’s clothes. In the process, her nails scratched his arm.

Letting her tear at him, Lin Yun said, "I didn’t do it."

"If not you, then who? Who else would do something like this?" the girl choked out between sobs.

From start to finish, Lin Yun didn’t stop her, letting her vent all her fury. Only when she ran out of strength did the girl let go of him and collapse to the floor again.

Seeing that the girl had calmed down a little, Lin Yun finally spoke. "What happened last night was Chang Jing’s doing."

"You’re lying! Impossible! Senior Brother Chang wouldn’t do that! He promised me..." Hearing Lin Yun’s words, the girl shook her head, her face a mask of disbelief.

"I know you won’t believe me," Lin Yun said. "When Chang Jing made his move last night, I sent people to rescue your family. But in the end, they only managed to save one young boy. He’s right outside the door now."

Hearing this, the girl’s head snapped up. She looked at Lin Yun and asked anxiously, "That’s my little brother! Where is he? Where is he?"

Seeing her anxious expression, Lin Yun called to the two men outside the door, "Let him in."

Following Lin Yun’s command, a Direct Disciple quickly led the little boy into the room. The moment the boy saw the girl, he finally burst into tears.

"Sister...!"

The brother and sister embraced, weeping. The little boy kept repeating, "Sister, they’re all dead... Father’s dead, Mother’s dead, Uncle is dead too..."

Learning from her little brother that everyone in the Chen Family was dead, the girl hugged him, sobbing as she tried to comfort him. "Don’t be afraid, little brother. I will get our revenge..."

"Yeah, Sister... It was Chang Jing! I remember what he looks like! He was the one who led people into our home last night! This brother here saved me," the little boy said between sobs, naming Chang Jing and pointing at Lin Yun as the one who sent someone to save him.

Hearing the little boy’s words, Lin Yun mocked himself inwardly. ’Hilarious, isn’t it? I’m the one who orchestrated this whole thing, yet here I am, posing as their savior.’
