Chapter 509: Chairman Qian
Upon arriving at the small courtyard where Bai Ling lived, a maid announced them. Lin Yun and Li Tian walked into the yard, where Bai Ling and Mo Qingshui were sitting on bamboo chairs. Shi Wu, meanwhile, was pacing back and forth anxiously to the side.
"Brother Lin Yun, what are we going to do? Who could’ve known the Second Miss would get into this much trouble?" Shi Wu said regretfully as Lin Yun approached.
’If I had known that man was Chairman Qian’s son, I would have dragged Mo Qingliu away even if it killed me. The Celestial Spirit Auction House is a behemoth; the Mo Family is no match for them at all.’
"Brother Shi Wu, don’t worry." Hearing Shi Wu’s words, Lin Yun reassured him.
At this, Mo Qingshui, who was at her wit’s end, looked over at Lin Yun. Noticing his relaxed expression, she asked in a low, serious voice, "Lin Yun, have you figured out a way to rescue my sister?"
Hearing Mo Qingshui’s question, Lin Yun didn’t beat around the bush. He nodded directly and said, "Yes. You two needn’t worry. I’m confident I can bring Qingliu back safely."
Lin Yun’s voice was brimming with confidence. For some reason, just looking at him made Bai Ling and Mo Qingshui’s anxious hearts settle. They had originally been planning to go find Luo Feng.
He told them not to worry and that he was heading to the Celestial Spirit Auction House right away. Shi Wu wanted to tag along, but Lin Yun refused, saying that Li Tian was all the company he needed.
Having a servant prepare a horse-drawn carriage, Lin Yun took Li Tian with him, and the two headed directly to the Celestial Spirit Auction House.
In truth, Chairman Qian’s position within the Celestial Spirit Auction House wasn’t particularly high; he was merely the director for Wind City. Regardless, he was still a representative of the Celestial Spirit Auction House, so the people of Flawless Palace would still give him some face.
After alighting from the carriage at the entrance to the Celestial Spirit Auction House, Lin Yun immediately sensed that the atmosphere was off. The maids who normally welcomed guests had all been replaced by the auction house’s guards.
As he reached the entrance of the Celestial Spirit Auction House, a guard blocked Lin Yun’s path. In response, Lin Yun smiled and said, "Would you please inform Chairman Qian that Lin Yun of Flawless Palace has come to call?"
Upon hearing the name Lin Yun, the guard’s expression visibly softened. The news that Lin Yun was the head disciple of Flawless Palace had already spread throughout the Eastern Heart Domain.
After asking Lin Yun to wait a moment, one of the guards turned and left to inform Chairman Qian.
Standing at the entrance with Li Tian, he didn’t have to wait long before the guard who had gone to announce him returned. The guard bowed respectfully to Lin Yun. "Young Master Lin, my apologies for the wait. The Chairman has asked me to bring you in."
"My thanks," Lin Yun replied, then followed the guard toward the auction house’s rear courtyard.
Upon reaching the rear courtyard of the Celestial Spirit Auction House, Lin Yun was led into the main hall, where he saw Chairman Qian. He was a somewhat portly man with very small eyes that immediately gave the impression that he was exceptionally shrewd.
"This junior, Lin Yun, pays my respects to Chairman Qian," he said, offering a bow.
Chairman Qian proved to be a man of great composure. Despite his son’s condition, he actually smiled as he personally helped Lin Yun to his feet and spoke politely.
"Nephew Lin, your master Luo Feng and I are good friends. There’s no need for such formalities," Chairman Qian chuckled.
He had a maid pour tea for Lin Yun and his companion. After the three were seated and had exchanged a few pleasantries, Chairman Qian finally asked, "And what business brings Nephew Lin to my establishment today?"
"I have been in Wind City for some time on my master’s orders, yet I have failed to call upon you, Chairman Qian. That is entirely my oversight. I’ve taken the liberty of coming today to offer my sincerest apologies. I hope you can forgive me," Lin Yun said.
"Ah, nonsense. You worry too much, Nephew Lin," Chairman Qian said with a dismissive wave of his hand after hearing the first part of Lin Yun’s speech.
"Of course, besides that, there is another reason for my visit today. I was hoping Chairman Qian might be able to grant me a..." Lin Yun began, but Chairman Qian cut him off before he could finish.
"If this is about the Mo Family’s second miss, Nephew Lin, then there’s no need to speak further. This affair has nothing to do with Flawless Palace. I will handle it with the Mo Family myself. If you are here to ask me to release her, you can put that thought out of your mind. I will not be letting her go."
Chairman Qian had cut off that line of conversation completely. In response, Lin Yun just smiled faintly. "You’ve misunderstood, Chairman Qian. I’m not here to ask you to release her."
"Oh? If not to ask for her release, then why have you come, Nephew?" Chairman Qian asked.
Chairman Qian had naturally investigated the matter concerning Mo Qingliu. Ever since she had arrived in Wind City, she had been staying with the Bai Family. And Lin Yun had handled many of her affairs; every time Mo Qingliu got into trouble, it was Lin Yun who stepped forward to deal with it.
Lin Yun took a leisurely sip of his tea, first complimenting its quality. Then, he looked at Chairman Qian and said, enunciating each word, "Chairman Qian, I’ve come today to make a deal with you."
"A deal?"
"That’s right. I’m aware of Young Master Qian’s injuries. I’ve come today because I wish to help treat them," Lin Yun said nonchalantly.
Hearing this, Chairman Qian could no longer remain seated. His voice laced with agitation, he exclaimed, "Nephew, you can treat my son’s injuries? Are you serious?"
Chairman Qian only had one son, and he had already given up all hope. After all, when it came to treating an injury where one’s groin had been severed, even an Earth Level Eight-Stars Alchemist would be powerless.
Now, hearing Lin Yun’s words, the despairing Chairman Qian was naturally overcome with excitement. This was the sole heir of the Qian Family! If Lin Yun could truly heal his son, Chairman Qian would be willing to pay any price.
"Chairman Qian, would I dare to trifle with you on such a matter? I’ve said it because I am certain it can be done." Lin Yun stated, then paused for effect.
"However..."
"However what? Nephew, if you have any difficulties, please don’t hesitate to say so," Chairman Qian urged excitedly.
Hearing this, Lin Yun smiled. "Heh, it’s nothing major. It’s just that treating Young Master Qian’s injuries requires a few rather rare Spirit Grasses. I was wondering if Chairman Qian..."
"Say no more. Just give me a list, Nephew. I will take care of the Spirit Grasses myself," Chairman Qian declared.
After being given a brush and paper, Lin Yun wrote down all the required Spirit Grasses. He also added many other Spirit Grasses that he needed for himself to the list for Chairman Qian.
’Since I’m treating his son’s injuries anyway, I might as well make a killing off it. Although I don’t know alchemy myself, I’ve seen the formulas for several elixirs in the Divine Realm that aid in cultivation. When the time comes, I can just have Guan Renjie refine them for me.’
In one breath, Lin Yun finished writing down a list of over a hundred different Spirit Grasses.
Taking the list from Lin Yun’s hand and giving it a casual glance, Chairman Qian couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath. As the director of the Celestial Spirit Auction House in Wind City, he naturally had a discerning eye.
More than half of the Spirit Grasses Lin Yun had listed were from the ancient era, each one exorbitantly priced. Even the ones that weren’t from ancient times were far from cheap.
