After hearing Lin Yun’s words, Wei Yunhang stared at him in shock. Even he found the idea terrifying. Success would undoubtedly bring immense benefits, but if they failed, Lin Yun and Wei Yunhang would be damned beyond redemption.

Seeing Wei Yunhang’s expression, Lin Yun chuckled. "Brother Wei, as men of this world, surely we have at least this much courage?"

Hearing this, Wei Yunhang drained his cup in one gulp. After a long silence, he finally nodded. "Alright. Since you have such grand ambitions, Brother Lin Yun, I, Wei Yunhang, will see this through with you. As for matters in Wind City, just give the word, Brother Lin Yun. I will give it my all."

It had to be said that Lin Yun’s plan, while dangerous, would reshape the entire Eastern Domain if it succeeded—to say nothing of the mysterious organization. The ultimate beneficiaries would be the Flawless Palace and the Taiqing Academy.

Wei Yunhang’s decision was all part of Lin Yun’s plan. Hearing his reply, Lin Yun smiled faintly and poured him another cup of wine. The two drank it down in one go.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Wind City, Guang Xuanji sat before her mirror, dressed only in a gauze robe. She combed her hair, her expression tinged with melancholy.

Guang Xuanji had been sullen for days. For some unknown reason, her mind kept replaying the image of Lin Yun, his every move in the room that day, and especially his signature, wicked smile.

Just then, He Shang, dressed in loose innerwear, wrapped his arms around her from behind. A smile played on his lips. "What’s wrong? You’ve been so gloomy these past couple of days. Something on your mind?"

Without his golden mask, He Shang was just a sinister-looking young man, unremarkable except for his sickly pale skin, which was unsettling to look at.

Effeminate and cruel. Perhaps those were the best words to describe He Shang.

Guang Xuanji had been with He Shang for the past few days. He was almost perversely obsessed with her body, but every time they made love, her thoughts would drift to Lin Yun.

Of course, Guang Xuanji felt no love for He Shang. Her intimacy with him was merely a means to recruit him into her organization.

Hearing He Shang’s words, Guang Xuanji forced a faint smile. "It’s nothing. I was just thinking about that head Disciple from the Flawless Palace."

The head Disciple of the Flawless Palace—wasn’t that Lin Yun? Hearing her mention him, He Shang sneered. "A mere Primordial Ocean Realm brat dares to shamelessly call himself one of the six great Demon Fiends of the Eastern Domain. It’s fine. You just proceed with the plan. When the time comes, I’ll take care of him."

He didn’t give Lin Yun a second thought. In his eyes, killing Lin Yun would be as easy as lifting a finger.

Hearing his words, Guang Xuanji nodded, her heart in turmoil. She then changed her clothes and said to He Shang, "I’m heading to Chunfeng Tower first. I’ll have someone notify you of the situation. For the next few days, you must not let anyone discover your whereabouts."

He wrapped his arms around her waist and said in that sinister, effeminate voice of his, "Don’t worry. Just stick to the plan and lure Lin Yun out. When the time comes, I’ll be the one to kill him."

With a slight nod, Guang Xuanji left. He Shang remained behind. News of his arrival in Wind City could not be allowed to leak, otherwise Lin Yun would surely be on guard.

After leaving He Shang, an expression of disgust crossed Guang Xuanji’s face. She muttered under her breath, ’What a disgusting man. If it weren’t for the Young Miss, you couldn’t dream of touching a single one of my fingers.’

She didn’t know why, but this time with He Shang, she found him utterly repulsive, even for a single second. Especially whenever she saw his face, she couldn’t help but compare him to Lin Yun.

The comparison only served to highlight Lin Yun’s superiority.

Back at Chunfeng Tower, Guang Xuanji sat alone in her room, gently caressing the Guqin her sister had left behind. The music was tinged with sorrow and longing.

When the song ended, Guang Xuanji fell into deep thought for a long while before finally taking up a brush to pen a letter. Judging by the addressee, it was for Lin Yun.

After she finished writing, Guang Xuanji sat in a daze for some time. In the end, she summoned her personal Maid and instructed her to deliver the letter to the Bai Family and place it directly into Lin Yun’s hands.

Hearing Guang Xuanji’s command, the Maid did not dare to delay and immediately set off for the Bai Family to deliver the letter.

At dusk, Lin Yun received the handwritten letter from Guang Xuanji. He made no attempt to hide it from Wei Yunhang and Li Tian, showing the contents to both of them.

The letter’s contents were simple enough: it was an invitation for Lin Yun to meet her at the Ten-Mile Pavilion outside Wind City, claiming she had something important to discuss.

Perhaps Guang Xuanji hadn’t truly made up her mind, because one look at the letter was enough to know something was wrong. A woman of her intelligence should never have made such an obvious mistake.

"It seems Guang Xuanji’s mind was in turmoil when she wrote this," Li Tian said, seeing the problem at a glance.

"Brother Lin Yun, this is obviously a trap," Wei Yunhang chimed in.

"It’s definitely a trap. But given Guang Xuanji’s intelligence, her letter shouldn’t be so riddled with flaws. Young Master Lin, I fear someone has thrown her heart into chaos," Li Tian continued, casting a strange glance at Lin Yun as he spoke.

Lin Yun had always been dense when it came to matters of the heart, but someone as clever as Li Tian could guess at Guang Xuanji’s thoughts just by reading between the lines.

Lin Yun shot Li Tian a glare and changed the subject. "Even if it is a trap, what do you think her objective is?"

"To kill you, of course," Li Tian said. "Once you’re dead, they’ll be safe in Wind City."

"I know that, but surely Guang Xuanji isn’t that foolish? Does she really intend to send a Spirit Realm expert to assassinate me?" Lin Yun said.

Guang Xuanji couldn’t possibly be unaware of his strength. Against an ordinary Celestial Spirit Realm expert—even one at the very Limit of the Celestial Spirit Realm—Lin Yun might not win, but he wouldn’t be easily killed. To eliminate him, they would need overwhelming numbers or a Spirit Realm expert. If he escaped, Guang Xuanji wouldn’t get a second chance.

"Young Master Lin, have you forgotten the Death Row Shelter?" Li Tian said coolly. "They are all killers, masters of the Path of Assassination. An assassin at the Celestial Spirit Realm is still a significant threat."

He paused before continuing, "Furthermore, judging by this letter, she must be absolutely confident in her ability to kill you. However, for personal reasons, she’s clearly conflicted, which is why the letter is so riddled with flaws that the trap is obvious at a glance."

It had to be said that Li Tian was exceptionally sharp. From a single handwritten letter, he had managed to deduce all of this, even getting a sense of Guang Xuanji’s own internal struggles.
