Chapter 511: Homecoming
"According to scientific speculation, the Divine Spirits of our Blue Star likely fell in the past because the Blue Star Realm was struck by a meteor. Blue Star’s Heart of the World was damaged, and the entire world was suddenly wracked by cataclysmic disasters, nearly wiping out all intelligent life."
"It was this sudden, world-ending calamity that caused the Divine Format of our world’s Divine Spirits to collapse one by one, leading to their demise."
"However, every Divine Spirit born from the world has an extremely tenacious Life Force. They were dead, but not truly gone. Even before this, our Blue Star had evil cults of all sizes."
"After the revival of Spiritual Qi, several evil cults suspected of being backed by Divine Spirits began to emerge. One of them, the Evil Cult of the Flame God, is active in your Leining Province," Wu Zhongchao said slowly.
Shu Feng’s eyes narrowed, a glint of killing intent flashing within them as he said slowly, "Leining Province? I understand. I’ll take care of them!"
In the Blue Star Realm, the numerous Spirit Saints of the Human Race held the ruling position. These Spirit Saints were the greatest talents of humanity, sparing no effort to develop technology, research different paths, and improve and evolve themselves, fostering an era of flourishing innovation and diverse ideas.
It is for this very reason that the Blue Star Human Clan has been able to conquer one Little World after another within the Erosion Realm, allowing them to prosper and flourish.
The Gulondo World is the most powerful world the Blue Star Human Clan has discovered, aside from the Void Demon Realm. The Gulondo World is home to more than six Divine Spirits, and it even once repelled an invasion from the Void Demon Realm.
But even though the Gulondo World has Divine Spirits and Demigod Level experts, the entire world remains stuck in a feudal era reminiscent of the Western Middle Ages. The common people are poor and ignorant, the nobility reigns supreme, and the Divine Spirits control everything.
Some of the Legendary Mages in the Gulondo World are Top Level geniuses with a strong capacity for accepting new things. Yet, despite over a century of exchange with experts from Blue Star, the Gulondo World remains completely unchanged.
The Legendary Mages who attempted to popularize Blue Star’s various technologies and ideologies were all suppressed by the major churches and burned at the stake as heretics.
The reason for this is simple: the poorer, more ignorant, and more backward the common people are, the more they worship and believe in Divine Spirits. Although Blue Star has its Three Major Churches, the vast majority of their members are Shallow Believers; there are very few Fanatics.
If Blue Star’s Divine Spirits were to revive, it’s feared that Blue Star’s technology would regress to a feudal era. The Spirit Saints of the Blue Star Human Clan would likely be reduced to mere lackeys for those Divine Spirits.
Shu Feng and the other Spirit Saints of the Human Race now wield great power; they are the elite of Blue Star, enjoying their comfortable, modern lives. Who among them would be willing to return to those ignorant and backward days?
Therefore, regarding the evil cults dedicated to reviving the Divine Spirits, Shu Feng’s stance was to annihilate them completely. He would absolutely not allow those Divine Spirits to return.
「Lei Jiang City. Phantom God Group, Office of the Chief Financial Officer.」
"Director, here are this month’s financial statements."
A young woman in professional office attire walked in, holding a stack of financial statements, and handed them to a middle-aged woman in the office.
That middle-aged woman was none other than Shu Feng’s mother, Wang Juan. Her career path was legendary. After being recruited by the president of the Phantom God Group, Hong Nan, she had steadily risen through the ranks to become the Group’s Chief Financial Officer.
Shu Nan Ye, meanwhile, had become the head of the Phantom God Group’s Inspection Department, responsible for investigating internal corruption. The couple had both become major figures within the Phantom God Group, each with their own career, and it had filled them with a new vitality.
Wang Juan said coolly, "Just leave it there."
The young woman set down the stack of financial statements and left.
The phone on her desk rang. "Director, there’s a young man here who says he’s your son. His name is Shu Feng. Should I send him up?"
Wang Juan’s eyes lit up. "Send him up!"
A few moments later, Shu Feng arrived at the CFO’s office.
Shu Feng said, "Mom, I’m home."
"You stinky brat, you finally decided to come home? Where have you been gallivanting these past few years? You didn’t even come home for the holidays. Don’t you know we were worried sick about you?"
The moment Wang Juan saw Shu Feng, her eyes reddened and tears began to fall. She smacked him hard on the shoulder and broke into choked sobs.
Shu Feng was the Shu Family’s most promising son, a top student from Shuijing University. But for the past few years, he had completely vanished. If government officials hadn’t constantly reassured them he was still alive, Wang Juan and her husband would have long since called the police and started searching for him everywhere.
Shu Feng said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Mom. I was on a secret mission. I just got back."
Wang Juan continued to cry as she threatened him fiercely, "You bastard! You damn little bastard! If you ever dare to disappear for years without a word again, I’ll disown you!"
There were very few people left on Blue Star who could make Shu Feng feel fear, and Wang Juan and Shu Nan Ye were two of them. It took every soothing word he could think of to finally calm his mother down.
As soon as Wang Juan calmed down, she said, "Ah Feng, you’re going on a blind date tonight. Your Aunt Tian’s daughter is free for the next few days. She’s a top student who graduated from Jena University in the Jiasen Republic. I’ve seen her picture—she’s tall and beautiful. You two should go get to know each other."
Shu Feng said helplessly, "Mom! I’m still a college student. Isn’t it a little too soon for blind dates?"
"What’s the rush? Good girls are hard to find these days. If you’re not proactive, they’ll all get snatched up. One of my clients has a son, an elite with an annual salary of over 300,000. But he’s in his late thirties, almost forty, and still single."
"Listen to me! You’re going on that blind date tonight! Even if you don’t like her, it’s good to make another friend. You might meet other wonderful girls through her in the future. I’ve already set it up. If you don’t go, you’re being an unfilial son, and I’ll disown you!"
Wang Juan shot Shu Feng a harsh glare and threatened him fiercely.
These past few years had tempered Wang Juan, making her quite feisty and capable. Shu Feng’s disappearance for years on end had scared her and Shu Nan Ye half to death. She wanted a nice girl to tie Shu Feng down—and preferably, give her a healthy grandson.
Shu Feng said in resignation, "Mom, I have a fiancée."
Wang Juan sneered. "Right. Keep spinning your little tales."
"I’m not lying to you! I’ll call her right now and let her tell you herself!"
Looking helpless, Shu Feng could only dial Zhu Chenyu’s number. But no matter how many times he tried, all he got was a busy signal.
Shu Feng had no choice but to call Li Xuan Yi. "Xuan Yi, where’s Chen Yu? I can’t get through to her."
Li Xuan Yi’s voice came through the phone. "Chen Yu? She’s in seclusion. She’s preparing to break through to the Spirit Sect realm!"
Wang Juan sneered. "Right. Just keep on spinning your tales."
