Chapter 1397 - 909: The Strategist
Friday, the midday sun was scorching.
Jiang Nian didn’t have any classes in the afternoon, so he walked with a few roommates back to the dorm, surrounded by a bustling crowd.
Everyone in the dorm had a smile on their face.
"Where are we going to have fun this afternoon?"
"Fun my ass, I’m going to the dorm to sleep first." Brother Bao Song yawned, having stayed up late last night.
Jiang Nian thought for a moment and nodded.
"You reminded me."
The three were a bit speechless. Da Chao was puzzled, "You didn’t come back last night. Did you go book a room?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Nian immediately retorted.
"Impossible, I’m pure and clean. If I had gone to book a room last night, may heaven strike me down."
The three, seeing his firm conviction, couldn’t help but believe him a little.
"Forget it, what are we eating?"
"Anything’s fine."
Da Chao thought for a moment, then turned to his roommate and said, "After we wake up this afternoon, I’m planning to play basketball. Are you going?"
"Not going."
"Not interested."
"My flight’s in the afternoon," Jiang Nian added.
"Damn!"
"Isn’t that Brother Yi over there?" Brother Bao Song’s eyes were sharp, a veteran in CF, locking heads in a second.
"It really is." Da Chao spotted him too and shouted, "Brother Yi, want to play basketball this afternoon?"
Deng Yi turned back and shouted fiercely.
"Do you have a death wish?"
The four roommates laughed, college moments. Freshman year friendships are too stiff, junior year too rushed.
Only sophomore year truly captures the essence of university.
It feels like the longest summer vacation in life, a never-ending summer, endless air conditioning, always a tomorrow.
In the afternoon, Jiang Nian quietly left the dorm.
Beihua University.
He parked at the southeast gate’s parking lot, waiting for Yu Zhiyi to arrive. Bored, he checked messages.
Most of the university groups were quiet, with hardly anyone chatting. Occasionally, someone would share a joke or a meme.
Surprisingly, the only active one was the group from Class Three.
Jiang Nian scrolled through them, chuckling now and then.
Suddenly, he thought about it seriously. In a class of over sixty people, nearly an eighth were in Beijing.
Class Three hadn’t disbanded, it had opened a branch in Beijing.
New! Class Three!
A while later, Yu Zhiyi arrived. This time she wasn’t carrying her little suitcase, just a round tube handbag.
She pursed her lips and struck a pose.
"Do I look good today?"
Jiang Nian glanced at her and thought for a while.
"I only look at what’s underneath."
"Tch!!" Yu Zhiyi rolled her eyes, a bit speechless, "What a waste of my time pairing outfits all day."
"Playing musical instruments to cow!"
"You play instruments?" Jiang Nian was about to get in the car, "Next time play for me, showcasing some talent is quite nice."
Yu Zhiyi: "..."
She suspected this jerk hadn’t really listened to her. He was just replying randomly, responding thoughtlessly.
Pissed off!!
On the road, Yu Zhiyi suddenly started chatting about Class Three. She shared what she knew about some classmates’ recent situations.
"Ding Qiulan went to Chongqing, heard she picked the wrong major, chose finance, and is now planning for grad school."
"Finance, huh."
Jiang Nian chatted idly with Yu Yourong while driving. Having someone on the road made for a nicer journey.
At least it relieved boredom and allowed for a leg to be touched.
Moreover, Yu Zhiyi was more curvy and tolerant. Though she couldn’t step on the gas, at least she could get on the highway.
Speed for a bit, then slow down.
Yu Zhiyi nodded and responded.
"Yeah, she didn’t know when applying. Searched online, but only saw the benefits of finance."
"After two years, she found it hard to find a job. Even after passing probation, there’s hardly any room for advancement."
Chattering all the way, they arrived at the airport.
....
Nightfall, landed in Yuhang.
Jiang Nian arrived at the place, dropping Yu Zhiyi off at her apartment. Then he turned to the company to handle business first.
No matter what, Banyu was his ticket in.
"Boss, you’re back?"
"Hm?"
Jiang Nian turned his head, slightly surprised, "Boss Fan, why are you here? Aren’t you off work already?"
Fan Yixuan was taken aback, waved her hand.
"Please don’t call me that."
"Anything the matter?"
"Ahem, I heard you just got back." She hesitated for a moment, "Well, Boss, are you hiring an assistant?"
"Secretary."
"Oh, it’s the secretary position." Fan Yixuan said nervously, "Do you have someone in mind now?"
"Why?"
Jiang Nian paused his work, curiously glancing at her once, "Do you have any recommendations?"
"Haha, no."
"How could I interfere with such matters." She waved her hands, "But I think there’s not much work for a secretary."
"Mm, I could try to multitask a bit."
Jiang Nian was stunned, looked at Fan Yixuan. Wearing a ladies’ business suit, exuding a strong professional vibe.
"Boss Fan, did you run into trouble?"
"If you’re short on cash, just say so. The company may not have anything else, but it has plenty of money, advancing salary isn’t a problem."
He spoke lightly, not planning to stay long anyway. Future money isn’t his money.
He was selling off granddad’s land without a care.
"No no no, Boss." Fan Yixuan waved her hand, "I have no issues, not lacking money, I just wanted to give it a try."
Meanwhile, she felt a bit moved.
Back when she blindly sent resumes, she really came to the right place. This place is simply heaven, filled with human care.
The boss is attractive, generous, and easy to talk to.
Amidst her excitement, Fan Yixuan didn’t forget to pledge loyalty, "Boss, I want to work for you for a lifetime."
Jiang Nian: "???"
That’s not necessary.
He himself was planning to grab a bucket and run, and she says work for a lifetime. This isn’t heartwarming, it’s a nightmare.
"Ahem."
"Well..... I’ve thought it over." Jiang Nian said, "Xiaofan, you don’t need to work so hard."
"I already have someone in mind for the secretary position."
"Who?"
"Someone you don’t know, coming over during the summer." He evaded, "Go home, have a good rest."
