Chapter 476 - 368: Friend
Little White wasn’t exactly human. Even now, she was half-human at best?
So, Little White didn’t know anything about Fengmen Village.
Fengmen Village had entered the public consciousness through one legend after another about a "Ghost Village."
Many influencers, desperate for views, had even found various ways to livestream from Fengmen Village.
Some had even gone so far as to explore Fengmen Village at night.
Naturally, some strange and bizarre things had happened.
So, if it wasn’t Little White standing before these two large stones, but a seasoned internet user, they would have surely known what this place was.
Whether the legends were true or not, the two words carved there were real.
Fengmen Village.
Little White seemed to realize something. "You said this is your village. Does that mean everyone in your village is like you? Not human?"
He had expected her to be frightened, but upon hearing her words, the boy was just confused.
He had seen his fair share of humans and knew what they were like.
Ordinary humans would be scared to tears just hearing the name Fengmen Village.
As he suspected, this Little White was no ordinary human.
But here...
Even if she had some skills, it wouldn’t be enough.
"More or less," he said. "Aren’t you afraid?"
Hearing this, Little White showed no fear. Instead, she looked eager for a challenge.
’My sister showed off her skills when she was here. If I’m here now, it should be fine, right?’
’I just hope these "dirty things" aren’t too literally dirty. And the food... I hope they don’t serve me anything weird!’
"Afraid? Of course I’m afraid. But you’re my friend. You’ll protect me, right?"
Little White blinked, looking at the young boy beside her.
The little boy froze. ’Friend?’
’Protect her?’
’She thinks of me as a friend?’
’But...’
’Is this how you treat a friend?’
The little boy was conflicted. He had never had a friend before.
The other children looked down on him, and his family didn’t like him, so he killed them all.
But now this pretty young lady was saying he was her friend?
’Is this really what it’s like to have a friend?’
The boy’s heart was in turmoil, and for a moment he didn’t know whether to believe Little White.
’If we’re friends, I should protect her, but I might not be able to protect her here... Should I send her away, then? Instead of bringing her back to Fengmen Village?’
"What are you spacing out for? Aren’t you going to take me to get something to eat?"
The boy stared blankly at Little White, then seemed to make up his mind.
"Okay. What do you want to eat?"
Little White followed the boy through the entrance and into Fengmen Village.
She had expected a pleasant surprise upon entering, or at least a normal village.
But what she saw instead was an ancient village. The buildings were all made of gray stone and white tile, and the entire village had a kind of harmonious pallor.
Desolate, pale, ancient.
It exuded an ancient air that was completely out of step with the modern world.
"Tie Dan is back. Is this the friend you brought with you?"
Little White was still observing the village when a sudden voice beside her made her jump.
An old man, dressed in a simple, gray-blue shirt, was standing right next to her.
His eyes were fixed on her, unblinking.
His face showed no hint of emotion, not even curiosity.
He was like a pool of stagnant water.
After speaking, the old man fell silent, just staring at Little White before turning his gaze to the little boy.
’Tie Dan?’
Little White finally recalled the name. So his name was Tie Dan.
’What a simple, unadorned name,’ she thought.
The boy called Tie Dan instinctively lowered his head when he heard the name, a little ashamed.
But after just a few seconds, a flustered look appeared on his face. "Village Chief, I’m back."
"It’s good you’re back. Hurry home. Your parents are waiting anxiously."
With that, the old man turned and walked away, step by step.
But he gave Little White a very strange feeling, as if she were watching a robot whose every move had been programmed.
Except this robot’s body was a little stooped.
"Your name is Tie Dan?"
The little boy’s face turned bright red. He clearly hated the name but didn’t dare to object.
In the past, he hadn’t understood, so he didn’t care what people called him.
But now he knew that people chose names with beautiful meanings and cultural significance, while his name was, as always, just Tie Dan.
He had been made fun of for this name before.
And now...
His friend...
Tie Dan fell silent.
"Didn’t the Village Chief just say your parents are waiting for you at home? Why aren’t you going?"
Tie Dan’s head snapped up to look at Little White. "I... I... You... I-you..."
