Dream Life

Episode 72: From Cartel to Sextet

Tria History August 28, 2013

After noon that day, I came back to Doctus' house for the first time in two months.

But I often do things to return the horses, greet the Littlef family next door, the Novello family, and in the end, by the time the sun leaned, I was finally able to calm down.

I just took a breath and realized there was a problem.

I'm talking about the apartment.

Until now, I have used four rooms upstairs as bedrooms, and when the four of us had no problems with each room. But with two more people, it's natural, but it's six, and there's not enough room.

It was relatively easy to decide that Mel and Sharon would be in the same room for a long time, but Dan's bedroom couldn't be determined inside.

At first, I was briefly thinking that guys would be fine in the same room as me, but three people have disagreed with that: Dan, Mel and Sharon.

The reason is that I should use the room alone, but then, Liddy and Beatrice will be in the same room.

Liddy wants a private room, and I've decided that's reasonable given her character. That leaves only the option of Mel having the same room as Beatrice and Dan having the same room as her sister Sharon. But Sharon is getting old too, and no matter how many brothers and sisters, he won't like the same room as the man. Though Mel's got used to it, he thought he wouldn't be comfortable in the same room as Beatrice.

It bothered me, I settled by using Dan's bedroom as the room I used for about two tatami storerooms on the ground floor. Even when it comes to storage, it looks like it was originally a maid's room or something, and it's a living room with windows for once. Living in it is fine in itself, but quite small compared to other rooms.

In the meantime, I put out what was in there and put down a simple sleeping area for the guests, but that's pretty much all I get buried in.

When I said I was sorry, Dan replied with a smile, "It's too much in this room".

In common houses in the countryside of this world, the whole family has many styles of sleeping in the same room. Even in the village of Rasmore, the farmers' houses are mostly made of them.

Exactly. The squire's house isn't that small, but there's still some room for the couple and the kids, and Dan also said he was using one room with her and three of his youngest sister Eunice until Sharon joined the college.

She was in the same room as her sister even before she came here, and I was really happy to get a room for the first time.

The following day, August 29th.

I went to the guild to register Mel and Dan as adventurers.

Beatrice finished the registration without any problems with the guardian, and we immediately headed to the training ground behind the guild.

It's going to rain this morning, and I wasn't originally planning to go into the woods to get tired of my journey.

Mel and Dan, who are new to the Alliance's training grounds, shine their eyes on the adventurers and mercenaries who encourage training around them. But soon the look turned into disappointment.

When I ask why, Mel tells me honestly how she feels about "thinking there are a lot of people stronger in the village".

It is true that the fierce men of level fifty were gobbled up, and the Lockhart family, who treated the vigilante with mercy and relentlessness, had better training to look forward to.

"Well, I'm not here today, but there are amazing people here, too. Like Beatrice was there."

Mel nodded small and began to wave the wooden sword in his hand. I do the same bareback, starting somewhat but just warmed up, and start a mock fight against Beatrice opponents.

Gerald, a second-degree adventurer, called out as he and the Beatrices had a simulated battle for about an hour and rested.

He said, "There's only two more of them, but are those your Harlem personnel, too?" and grins niggardly.

Before I could answer anything, I said, "That's Prince Harlem in all directions. He's in range until the man... Kuku," he slaps me on the shoulder as he looks at Dan.

I thought I was the usual light-hearted, tried to flush it gently, but Mel said, "Don't make fun of Master Zach!" He was screaming.

Mel is a beautiful girl with double eyelid patchy eyes on her redhead hair, often with a bright look that keeps her smiling. But at that time, he was lifting his eyes and dew his anger.

As long as she's in the village, she's not immune to these things because no one makes fun of me.

That's why Mel was really mad.

Gerald marvels at the force for a moment, and, with people's evil grin, says "Zach," puts his hand on my shoulder.

"What's next for the tiger, Bobcat? You know, you could use this type."

Gerald makes fun of me again at his usual rate.

I don't react to that tease, I introduce Mel and Dan.

"It's Melissa Marron. That's Dan Jakes. It's my childhood. Regards."

Gerald groans, "Well, I'm not familiar with you..." and narrows his eyes.

Is Mel still stuck in anger, staring at Gerald? Dan's is harder to say friendly, but for once, he was bowing his head like a courtesy.

Getting Gerald's reluctant gaze, Mel said, "I won't allow it any more! Fight!," he said, poking a wooden sword at him.

As was the case when Beatrice, Mel seems more inclined to talk to each other with a sword than to use words.

But Gerald waves flirtatiously and doesn't try to fit in with "It's not going to be a battle with a lady".

(That's a good idea. I don't have any teeth either. He looks light, but Gerald is a leading swordsman. A Rockhart squire is a comparable arm to Nicholas.)

I tried to speak to her to make Mel give up. But Dan was speaking to Gerald early for a moment.

"I'd like you to join me in the archery. I think two on one would be a little bit of a battle."

Gerald mutters "Two on one......" but has no sign of responding.

Beatrice grinned, interrupting.

"Why don't you put Zach and Sharon in and compete with“ Zack Cartel ”? That sounds more interesting, doesn't it?

Gerald shakes his neck wide aside.

"Idiot! Zach and Miss Sharon, will I be the one in the avant-garde? It's over with the air hammer."

When Beatrice tried to say something more, Gerald glanced over his shoulder and said, "Okay, okay. You should get rid of that lady and the kid," he admitted.

The adventurers, who were bored or watching how it was, gathered straw that it seemed interesting.

"Two to one against Zach's Dachi. Gerald, don't lose if you're wrong."

With such voices flying, Mel and Dan were beginning to prepare for a mock fight.

As usual, Mel puts a bastard-shaped wooden sword, Dan puts a shorter single-handed sword-shaped wooden sword on his hips, and sets up a short bow, Short Bow.

And Mel and Dan split into an avant-garde and a rear guard with the breath of Azumi.

Gerald sees how it goes, says "ho," and grabs the wooden sword. Instead of setting up, he shouted, "Whenever you want," with his sword on the ground like a cane.

Truth is, this is Gerald's style, but the first sight opponent often mistakes him for making fun of himself.

At first I thought I was insulted, but whoever I dealt with was the same response.

I thought Mel's anger would explode.

(Mel gets hot all at once when it comes to me... no, that's unexpectedly cool...)

That's what I thought, because I saw Mel snuggle around without alarm. Eyes feel burning in anger, but the movement is calm itself, slowly weighing in between. And in the same way Dan was slowly moving to the side with a short bow with an arrow on it.

The moment Dan's position lay directly next to Gerald's left, the sound of a bow string called Bunn echoed the training field.

Everyone but us would have thought Dan had unleashed an arrow.

But no arrow was ever released from his bow.

The adventurers watching around tried to make Dan laugh, thinking he missed the arrow. But the laughter hardened in the back of their throats and never came out as a voice.

Gerald turns his reflexive attention to Dan that an arrow was released along with the sound of a bow string.

I watched that slight gaze move and Mel popped out.

Here Gerald will turn slightly backwards. But the skill difference between Mel and Gerald is so great that he can afford to deal with Mel's attack. Everyone thought so, including him.

As Gerald attempts to shake his sword up against Mel, Mel stops the assault and, conversely, takes a distance in the backstep.

At that time, a second bow string echoed the training ground.

Now not only was the sound, but an arrow was unleashed toward Gerald's left flank.

Gerald shrugged his body slightly off and avoided the arrows after tongue-in-cheek.

With his consciousness poking a slight gap that went to the arrow, Mel makes a sudden attack.

Originally there was a height difference, but Mel bent his body and slashed Gerald's axial leg in a low position like crawling through the ground. Gerald plays easily with his sword and uses his momentum to swing down his sword, targeting Mel's head in reverse.

Mel tried to roll to the left, avoiding it, and watched Gerald with his left hand on one knee to the ground.

Not Gerald's word, but it looks like a threatening bobcat-like move.

But that was part of the operation, too. Dan approached Gerald without a sound during the attack.

Dan runs behind Gerald without warning, paying for the sword he had replaced at some point.

Gerald grins bitterly, "Whoa, no alarm, no gap," and gets rid of Dan's attack with his sharp sword muscle.

Thereafter, Mel and Dan's breathtaking attack continues, but Gerald, who is above level sixty, spares more than an ambush did not work, strikes the two.

A few rounds crossed, Dan, the less skilled, struck down on his shoulder and fell off. And on a one-on-one basis, Mel couldn't even fathom at all, and after just meeting twice, he was skipped with his sword, where the mock fight ended.

I'm not surprised we've seen Dan and Mel combine several times in the village right now. But the first time I played against them, I couldn't hide my surprise. I can't handle attacks from both directions in my arms like Gerald did, and I lost in a minute or two of something.

Dan kills the signs and ambushes while Mel pays the enemy's attention in the front. On the contrary, he suddenly shows signs, causing attention behind him and supporting Mel in his attack. Even Beatrice, who has experience in this combination, praised him for being such an amazing bunch of kids.

It's this way of fighting, but he said it was Dan's idea.

He assumed he was acting with us and worried about what he could do with his least powerful self. So I talked to Guy, my father.

Guy wouldn't coach him directly, and he said he showed his grandfather, Walt the Spear with a squire head, Nicholas the Swordsman, Hector the Archer, and five Guys in action.

All five are super first-rate warriors, but compared to their grandfathers, Guy, who uses swords and bows, is inferior in terms of pure aggression. Of course, his sword and bow are more than first-rate arms, but the others are too awesome.

At my grandfather's party, my grandfather and Nicholas will be the avant-garde, Walt the middle guard, and Hector the back guard. This has been a basic formation for decades.

Guy said he didn't go into the four formations and was supporting the four by becoming a playful presence, attracting enemy attention and ambushing in free positions. Guy showed himself that it was his role to most efficiently draw on the power of the four main players.

I can tell you the same thing at our party.

Assuming Beatrice isn't there, the avant-garde is me and Mel, and the rear guard is Liddy and Sharon are the basic shapes. And our biggest feature is the powerful long-range attack power of magic. To take advantage of it, Dan contemplated buying time to chant the spell by drawing the attention of his enemies.

When I thought that far, I revealed my thoughts to Mel and tried everything I could with her. And they came to the conclusion that it was the most efficient way for the two of us to stir up our enemies, and they did research with her every day.

Mel and Dan, and the adventurers who watched Gerald's mock battle around, could not believe that Gerald, a powerful second-degree adventurer, was ten years old and slept with a child there. They didn't even joke, as usual, they were just losing words.

Some of the young adventurers had played mock wars with Gerald. But in a young man of the seventh grade or so, it was normal to be overwhelmed, even two-on-one.

In the meantime, Gerald called out to the two of them, "That's Zach's childhood tame..."

And he smiled, "It's Gerald. That was a mild joke earlier," he offered his right hand.

Dan takes that hand, but Mel isn't convinced yet or doesn't try to take his.

I said, "Mr. Gerald always says one word, no, two or three extra words, but the roots are good people. Mel will find out soon enough," she nodded at me, then took Gerald's right hand.

Gerald laughs bitterly, "Not a lot of two or three words," but from behind him his party-member sorcerer Rufus began to whisper, as usual.

"No, he's exactly right. You always say extra things and cause trouble. I would always say. When tapping lightly, look carefully at them..."

Gerald was responding to Rufus' novel by saying "OK, OK".

Mel and Dan were recognised by the adventurers of Doctus at once in this mock fight.

And the name of the four of us “Zack Cartel” spread all at once.

Whether that triggered it or not, the six of us who added Liddy and Beatrice only got to know each other as a collaborative party so long as it was called "Zach Hex (Zack Sextet).

(But why “Zach Sextet”? Whatever you think, Beatrice would be the leader... I'm sure he's even given some weird nickname in the shadows...)
