Dream Life

Episode 81: The End of a Middle-Ghost Nation: Previous

The life of the Middle-Ghost Manipulator (Tamer), Kauno Hurla, was about to disappear. In a vanishing consciousness, life so far flows like a running light.

He was born in Sokius, a demonic country - a country on the eastern side of the Aquila Mountains, the western countries calling it Eternal Darkness (Kwaedam Tenebre) - to the House of Hurla, known as the Middle-Ghost family fame. In his childhood, everyone in the clan called him a genius, and as he grew, he was also a sight to behold from other ghost tribes - the Great Ghost, the Middle Ghost, the Little Ghost, etc. And by the time he was twenty, he had made his name immovable as an orc manipulator (Tamer) of the Middle-Ghost One.

(You were at my peak until I was twenty, I suppose. But when did I go the wrong way, I... well. That time......)

It was about a year ago that he left Zalesh, the capital of the Ghost Nation.

Hearing from his uncle Tayo Hurla, he couldn't stay or stand, heading west to jump out.

(Think about it, maybe I put it in your uncle's trap. Well, I don't care now...)

Tayo Hurla was a hero to him.

His father, Youni, the chief of the Hurla clan, is more of a politician than a warrior, but Taiyo was a living warrior. About a decade ago, he led two hundred orcs into enemy countries to wipe out traitors and successfully carry out difficult tasks.

At the time, Kauno had just turned fifteen, an adult, and was not allowed to accompany him in the operation, but he remembered being touched by the audacity of penetrating deep into the enemy land only by three of the Great Ghost Operators (Tamer) Yuhana Herasvo and the Winged Demon Spellman Ilari Korandel.

But Tayo has changed since he succeeded in his mission and triumphed. He became a man like a drunken cripple.

The two Yuhannas and Irali who participated in the operation with him were killed in battle, as were all the more orcs they were leading. After defeating the traitor, he managed to invade the western base, the village of Leriche - a village fifty km east of Fort Toa. Although he returned to an important stronghold to use and invade the loophole north of Toa - he was in a dilapidated state then. After that, he lived a life of drowning in alcohol, becoming rough even in trivial matters. In an unimaginable battle, the relatives wondered if their hearts were sick, and there was nothing to try to admire strongly.

Still, he was a hero to Kauno. I always enjoyed hearing from Tayo when I was drunk but in a good mood.

Battle against the Fire Dragon Salamander in Aquila. Running with warriors in the west. Even more so is the death struggle with Mathias Vallo, the moon demon spell who is a traitor...

Teiyo's stories sometimes didn't fit, but Kauno didn't really care. Sometimes if you get drunk, the story gets bigger, but in fact, it's because Tayo made a difference and brought honor to the ghost tribe.

The tayo fell ill about a year ago.

It was only forty five years old, but even the stubborn Middle-Ghost warriors couldn't stand a decade of recklessness. When Teillo is on the floor of death, Kauno is told a shocking story.

"It's Kauno. I'm a coward... not the man you think I am..."

Kauno immediately denied it.

"That's not true! My uncle is proud of Hurla. No, I'm proud of the Middle-Ghost Clan!

Teillo woke up weak body and took Kauno's hand.

"I have not defeated the traitor... perhaps he is still alive. Matthias Vallo of the Moon Demon Nation lives..."

Kauno lost his voice to the word.

"We found him. But the big haunted son of a bitch, Yuhana, took the aug on her own and started acting differently..."

Teiyo's story was that the Great Ghost, Yuhana, acted differently and Ilari, the Winged Demon spellman, was also in tune with it, thus becoming isolated and defeated his mission.

Theyo and the infiltrators had not only the annihilation of the traitor, the Moon Demon Mathias, but another mission. It was to carry out a manoeuvre around Periclitle, known as the City of Adventurers, to make it easier for the main unit that invaded the west to move. Just ahead of the traitor's escape was the village around Periclitle, which, after finding the traitor, was an operation to nail troops north of Periclitle by attacking the village at the right time.

I was supposed to spend about a month looking for a traitor, but I was lucky enough to find out where the human woman who escaped with the traitor was.

Taking into account that it was winter and that it would be a long battle, Teiyo suggested creating a base and waiting, but Yuhana and Ilari did not give in by saying that it would be safer to keep moving through the woods.

In the end, no agreement could be reached between Teiyo and Yuhana and Ilari, acting separately from the Yuhanas, but all were discovered by the enemy before the start of the operation, and Teiyo lost all orcs. He himself, with the help of Ilari, had only managed to escape.

Yuhana, one of the Great Ghost tribes, was also discovered by his enemies at about the same time, annihilating Auga altogether. Yuhana managed to escape, but lost her left hand. After all, they lost all their power. Their mission ended in failure.

The surviving Taiyo wandered through the forests of the mountain hem of Aquila to return to Sokius, but a little later Yuhana and Ilari were killed by the Fire Dragon (Salamander) in a place called the village of Leriche, and the only one, he, fled.

Tayo, who failed in his mission, initially tried to report the matter honestly, but when he returned to Leriche, the large forces that invaded the west had been wiped out - defeated in the Battle of Acree Chain - and it was said that the cause was Tayo and his other troops' failure in their task of attracting enemies.

In fact, the fact that they were found more than a month before the plan and were wiped out even more lightly allowed the western countries to send their troops to the southern kingdom of Kaum without dividing their forces around Periclitle. This allowed us to increase our battle power considerably before the Battle of Acree Chain.

If I could, but if I could nail the Royal Lax Army around Periclitle, there wouldn't have been an Acree Chain battle. In that case, there should have been nothing to stop the Sochius armies marching with the momentum of the bamboo, and there should have been no successful blockade of the Als streets and no western armies joining.

Because of that circumstance, Teillo made a false report. Although he managed to defeat the traitor because the traitor of the Moon Demon clan had attacked him backwards, he was cut off by the death fight and reported to have failed in his manoeuvre. Initially, the report was suspected to be false, but the detailed record of conduct and map left by the Winged Demon spellman Irali were evidence and the suspicion was dispelled.

Theyo continues to confess on the floor of death.

"I couldn't stand everyone's gaze... you failed, so my people died. Why do you survive... I couldn't stand that gaze... so I'm not the man you think I am..."

At the time of Teillo's death, Kauno thought he could no longer stand what he worshipped, his nephew, and confessed the truth.

"Is it true, uncle..."

Teillo nodded weakly and handed Kauno a single map.

"With this, we should be able to go where he is. It's not my brother-in-law I could have told you, but will you clear this mindless mind? Defeat the traitor. Please... you, the genius of magic tricks (Tame), can do it..."

Kauno is such a genius that the Middle-Ghost tribe has no strangers, and is known as the best oak user of the Middle-Ghost tribe. In fact, the orcs he manipulates were better than the other Tamer orcs.

Kauno didn't get on Tayo's suggestion right away.

His uncle, who had been lying for ten years and trampled on his thoughts, could not forgive him.

"It's natural to hate me. But as a man of Hurla, I want the shame of my clan to snow. You're the only one I can ask for this."

"If you mean to snow the shame of Hurla, aren't you supposed to tell the chief, your father"

Taiyo shook his neck small and sideways, scoffing himself, "My brother shouldn't do anything but stop talking to me..."

Teiyo had already told his elder brother Youni the truth. But fearing that this fact would be discovered, the chief did not listen to his wishes.

"It also makes sense what my brother says. If the Budosco and Bindlers knew, Hurla would lose more power than ever."

The Hurla family is a leading historical family among the Middle-Ghost tribes. But in the last hundred years or so, we are losing power, and the family members who said Budosco and Bindler on our behalf are cowing the Middle-Ghost tribe. Chieftain Youni Hurla was worried about it and received the difficult task of a separate task force in the earlier Great Invasion, trying to show strength by doing it all.

Teillo showed Kauno the map, describing the route he used ten years ago. The map contained detailed information, which seemed sufficient for Kauno.

"He is the best dark user of the Moon Demon Clan. Even if you manipulate the orcs, they could be payback in fifty or a hundred... don't hang up the night raid if you're wrong. Night is the most powerful time for the Moon Demon Spellmaster..."

Theyo explained the measures he had in mind one after the other.

"... get a human collaborator. Find him in Leriche. Some of those guys must have a grudge to the west..."

Teillo's idea was to get human collaborators and get information in the village of Leriche, the base of the invasion to the west, to set up a base on the west side of Aquila to increase the number of oaks, to make noise in the south and attract enemies once discovered by the enemy, to go all the way north and defeat the traitor, Mathias Vallo of the Moon Demon Nation, who explained it with a cough.

"This is an order I let him make in my brother's name. With this, we should be able to get west of Leriche."

That's what I said and gave a piece of paper to Kauno. Inside it was written an order to infiltrate the west side in order to get a nursery bed for family summonses - a young woman to use to produce oak and goblins.

"... Is this real"

Taiyo shook his neck to the side with a smile that also looked invincible.

"No, it's fake. It was based on an order that was in my brother's room. But you shouldn't normally notice."

Kauno was beginning to be fascinated by the adventure of breaking into a single enemy country and defeating the traitor, even with hesitation.

(If you succeed, you will snow your uncle's shame. Besides, I can make my powers known to the Great Ghosts, no, the Demons...)

Originally, few were thoughtful of the Middle-Ghost tribe, but Kauno was the bearer of short-circuited thought with a ring to it. If it were of a prudent character, it would not have taken into account and implemented not only the forgery of the order but also the possibility of exposing the existence of the important stronghold, the village of Leriche, even though it was meant to defeat the traitors of the Moon Demons.

But Kauno seemed to be a young man confident in his own power and did not consider all those inconveniences.

"I'll protect Hurla's honor."

When Kauno said so, he left Taiyo's room.

Left behind, Tayo once again kept herself on the sleeping table, looking at the blurry ceiling. There was a satisfying grin on that face. But the grin was a terribly distorted and ugly thing.

(Now I can give back my interest to the people who called me incompetent, my brother, and the elders. Kukuk...... Kauno is indeed a genius. I'm not even close. But he doesn't think enough... I wonder what your brother will look like when his proud son damages his country (Sokius). It's a shame you can't see that, but now Hurla's honor falls to the ground. You even use a fake order, put it out west, and put Leriche in danger... Kukukuku, I can't stop laughing...)

When he failed in the task entrusted to himself, he contemplated redeeming himself with death like a samurai.

He tried to storm the enemy in order to reward them with the Great Ghost Operator (Tamer) Yuhana. But Ilari, a wing demon, thought about the future and feared that a route would be identified to break in from the village of Leriche. For this reason, wild orgasms and oaks accidentally made the herd look like it was being made. So he insisted he couldn't leave a ghost-like corpse, but two ghost-like people overthrew Irali's thoughts.

Ilari looked heavily at the risk that their bodies would remain, giving up on the two persuasions and using dark attribute magic against his compatriots. Two ghost tribes with low tolerance to magic were lightly deprived of consciousness. I would have liked to manipulate it with the puppet's magic, but he didn't have the tools he needed in his hand and could only make hypnotic allusions.

Still, it worked well enough for the two ghost tribes. Nothing happened for a few days and I was following Irali's orders.

But as she went through the mountains of Aquila, Yuhana opened the wound on her lost left arm, and her surgery was solved by the pain. He tried to kill Ilari, and after the death fight, he was killed the other way around. At that time, the technique of Teillo was also solved, but he pretended that the technique was working and killed the alarmed Ilari on his return, who had come all the way to the village of Leriche.

When he managed to return to Leriche, his brother Youni Hurla, the chief of the clan, greeted him best. Teiyo honestly talked about the upside of things and said he would atone for his sins, but Youni forced false reports to cover up his own clan's failures, and Teiyo eventually followed suit.

I was trampled with pride as a warrior and drowned in alcohol.

Various thoughts continued to erode him, including the failure of the operation and the anguish that killed his compatriots, and his depression at his brother, who took away his own pride, and finally turned into resentment towards his clan. Somehow I felt my time of death approaching, and decided to go on an outrage against the clan if I were to die anyway.

(You can all perish! The clan and this country... it's a heartbreak to see it come true, but it's not a big deal... kukukuku...)

Teiyo left the world. Its death face was distorted, but it also seemed to have a satisfying grin.
