Dream Life

Lesson 29: Skills Assessment: Previous

Tria history April 21, 2018.

Yesterday's welcoming feast is also successfully concluded, and today there will be a martial arts review made by Degenhardt Grabsch and other blacksmiths from the Wellburn branch.

The number of people may be the assembly room of the workshop, but due to the strong demands of the merchants wishing to connect with the blacksmith's guild, as well as the trial and slaughter of weapons, it will be held in the meadow north of Kuangaga Hill, where a large space can be taken.

The occasional refreshing wind of spring strokes my cheeks. A well sunny sky creates a beautiful contrast with fresh green meadows.

The meadow grass has been mowed two hundred meters across all sides by the magic of me and Liddy and Sharon, and looks like a stadium lawn in the distance. Tents, tables, chairs, etc. prepared by the merchants' hands are arranged there, so much so that they look confused with outdoor event venues.

We are also ready for a liquor review brought in by each branch that we plan to do in the afternoon, with over a hundred barrels lined up under the tent.

It's not even 9 a.m. yet, but the venue was already overflowing with officials and merchants from the Blacksmith Guild and residents of the village of Rasmore, as well as people from nearby towns and villages. Estimates indicate that more than a thousand people are gathering, so much so that the venue we have set aside for the general public feels so small.

People from the neighborhood seem to have left before dawn, but they've heard rumors that it's more than a harvest festival, and they're already tense.

The Skills Quality Review will be the main venue for my earthly magic stage. The stage is two meters high, ten meters wide and about five meters deep, enclosing the three sides in the curtain, making it look like a stage.

Behind the scenes three men waited for their turn behind the main venue with a tense face. The men were solidifying themselves into a fully armed, incompatible with the long idle landscape of the venue.

"But do we have to show them so much," my grandfather blurred, "now it's time. Because we did something similar in Ars," he chuckles.

My grandfather laughs and answers, "I'm not used to it," but laughs bitterly. In that regard, my father and brother have paraded tens of thousands of people against me at last year's marriage ceremony, and I can afford more than my grandfather.

I also plan to go on stage in a commentary role, but I don't get as much attention as the three of them, so it's totally another HR "every one".

The preparations are completed around 9 a.m. and the venue awaiting the opening of the meeting is quiet.

From the stage, in the front row, the blacksmiths of the general headquarters of Ars are lined up in chairs. Everyone is holding the jock and it looks like they're already sourcing booze somewhere. Behind them lay the blacksmiths of each branch, and they held the jock in the same way.

The Dägenhardts, who are also the protagonists of today, stand to the left and right of the stage, with a magical face. Exactly. I'm not gripping the jock.

Today's facilitator is Jonathan Water, an employee of the Wellburne branch. You wouldn't consider yourself just a clerk if you saw someone you didn't know because you wear a silk hat-like hat and are stiffening yourself into a tuxedo like a swallow tail suit.

I feel like Johnny's been doing a lot of things lately. Commanding the construction of the workshop, preparing the welcome feast, negotiating with the commercial guild… and this MC. Half the time, it's my fault, so I feel sorry for you. It's just that he himself, he's saved because he's hosting for fun.

"So long, folks. The first (...) Forge Skills Assessment Meeting will be held…"

That's when my ear sounded like the "first time."

(Does the first...... mean you're going to do it many times? I'm not listening...)

Johnny goes ahead with the ceremony while I think about it.

"I would now like to receive a declaration of opening from the Chief Artisan Ulrich Drexler. Master Craftsman, please."

Ulrich rises to the stage with a round of applause and greets. The greeting began with a word of thanks to the Lockhart family and ended in about twenty seconds.

At the end of the greeting, Johnny moves on to flow.

"Today will be the showcase of the Rockhart family lord Masaias and his predecessor, Govan. In addition to that, you will also see the sword of your man Rodrick…"

The “title” that came out of General Headquarters was to make weapons for my father, Masaias, and my grandfather, Govan. My brother Rodrick's sword, presented by the Wellburn branch at the wedding ceremony, was incomplete as a magic sword, so my brother's sword is also to be showcased together.

"Now let me reveal from Lord Rodrick's sword! Master Rodrick, go ahead!

His brother appeared on stage with blue-toned armor, chest armor (Cuiras), shoulders (Spaulder) and femoral armor (Cuis), the official equipment of the Northern Governor's Office of the Caerm Empire, hardened into a silver cage hand (Gauntlet) and wearing a silver-toned, decorative horned helmet (Helmet).

The figure deserves a young hero, and from the venue it resembles a sigh of "Ooh!" The voice leaks. My sister-in-law Rosalie stares at the figure with a lucid look.

The armor itself looks the same as the Imperial Army's gear, but it is given bespoke armor by the Raswell Border Uncle, and the performance is out of step. It shines in the light of the sun because it was polished up by Beltram and others.

And lift the sword of Mithril, the star of this one. Previously, the sheath was simple, but this time it was decorated in silver to match the armor. The appearance of each sheath with its sword is like a hero who serves his sword to God, and once again a sigh leaks from the venue.

Where the voice of the venue was quiet, my brother pulled out his sword and raised it high. The young commander himself ordered the assault, and the "Mitsuru" venue was repeated three times.

The sword is an orthodox one-handed half sword, the Bastard Sword, but the pulled out sword body, the Blade, shined like a mirror without a single cloud, occasionally emitting a dazzling light in the light of the sun.

The blacksmiths are also nodding in a "um" way.

A target made of straw is brought in from the hem of the stage with Johnny's words, "Then please try it out".

When the target was fixed, his brother gave a salute to the venue before putting his sword against the target.

Swing the sword down diagonally with the temper of tearing. The target is cut off diagonally with the sound of Zash, making a noise called Bassa and falling to the ground.

Applause comes from the villagers and merchants, but the blacksmiths don't even try to get up with their arms together. Where the applause subsided, he said, "Next will be a magic sword trial slaughter. Branch Manager, I need a commentary," Johnny said, and Dagenhardt stood up quietly.

"Rod's sword is a light attribute. In addition to this, the magic of metallic hardening has also been granted. As I've just seen the magic of hardening. The magic of light is" devised. "

That's all I say, I look at my brother, and I go back to where I was.

In the meantime, a target was set up. It's the upper body of the dull gray metal doll Mannequin, which I magically made from an iron ingot.

"This doll was made by Zacharias, the second son of the Lockhart family, and has a thickness of a quarter cm (semel) on the front. In the eyes of the Blacksmith Beltram of the village of Rasmore, it has a strength beyond the common chest armor Cuiras."

At the end of Johnny's explanation, his brother put his sword on the upper level. And abruptly started the magic.

For a moment, the stage is wrapped in a bright white light. As the glare subsided, there was a figure of his brother with his sword on the upper stage. It reflected on polished armor and was so divine that it could be called a divine sword.

Again, wave your sword down with the temper of ripping.

It's swung down at such a rate that remnants like a band of light remain, and for a moment, it doesn't sound so loud that I think it's empty. But when my brother stops and restarts the magic of the sword, the metal doll slowly drifts off, making a loud noise called Gashan and falling to the ground.

The venue was quiet. Even Johnny, the facilitator, has lost his word, and his breath sounds strangely loud.

Johnny returned to me as soon as possible, in a slight hurry. "Now, blacksmiths, please confirm your swords and targets!" and encourage the blacksmiths to act.

Dozens of blacksmiths slowly step up to the stage, and I head beside my brother as a commentator, too.

"It's brilliant. I didn't expect to produce so much output with Mithril's sword..." Ulrich says, looking down at his brother's sword as Johann Wilt, who struck Dan and Liddy's sword, says "Sure".

Johan said, "The sword itself is not a passing score. Demon crystal stone is also a second-degree thing... I'm not sure it's performance different from the sword of Non. Not quite," he muttered to himself.

Ulrich says, "I said I had an idea earlier, but I did what," and stares at Dagenhardt.

"I'm playing the magic team a little bit. Instead of simply wrapping light around it, it is shaped specifically for slaughter. This draws on the characteristics of Rod's swordsmanship…"

He changes the way his grandfathers wrap their magic around him, just like his sword, and focuses his magic on the tip side of his sword body. It's not just that, it's concentrating magic on the blade side and increasing the density of light. In extreme terms, it is an image of a “Shining Sabre", a light attribute magic, juxtaposed in front of a Mithril sword.

Because it is double-edged, it feels like two shiny thin swords pinch a third of the tip side of Mithril's sword body.

The sound was not heard because the blade of misril passed through the place slashed by the magic of light, that is, where the iron melted and became space.

Ulrich nodded, "I see," but grumbled, "Did you borrow Zach's wisdom?" Perhaps he remembered the magic of the glowing sword I showed him before and noticed the tease.

"How much magic do you consume?" he asked me.

"In my measurements, it's like two-thirds of the magic sword of Chief Drexler," he explains to the venue. The Dwarves twitch at the words.

Ulrich also roars, "The Sword of Noun's Adamantite is more powerful, but does it mean that efficiency is better for this guy?"

Both Mithrill and Adamantite are metals that go well with magic, but in terms of strength, the armament rises to Adamantite. For this reason, raising the magic output with the Mithril sword could damage the sword and the output has to be lowered.

This time, I have succeeded in reducing the impact on the sword body and increasing the output by subtly shifting the sword and magic.

"Not brilliant," Ulrich praised, "I'm not looking forward to this aftermath," he returned to his seat with a laugh.

"Thank you, Master Rodrick. Now, ladies and gentlemen, give a round of applause to Master Rodrick!

Johnny's words engulfed the venue with applause that never broke. My brother responded to it with a chivalrous, crisp trick and went down the stage.

"Now, my lord, let me move on to the show of my predecessors' martial arts. This time, the specifications of the two weapons are almost identical, so you will appear with us. Then go ahead!"

My grandfather and father appear from the sleeve of the stage in Johnny's words.

It looks like it's equipped for the Northern Governor's Office Army in the same Caerm Empire as my brother. The difference is that although the colour of the chest armor (Cuiras) is based on blue, the chest area shows the Rockhart family crest and a stunning picture of a raised lion.

On behalf of Dagenhardt, the three Dwarves step forward.

Gustav, who is also quite wide among dwarves, began to explain.

"Let's start with Non!" and the loud voice "Daoist", commensurate with its physique, echoes the venue.

"This chest armor, Cuiras, looks misrilled, but it's not the only one I use!

People in the venue tilt their necks at Gustav's words and they hear him say, "What do you mean?" Gustav keeps explaining without worrying about it.

"The ground dragon leather is affixed to the inside of the outer plate of Mithril..." leaks a discouraged voice from the blacksmiths.

With the same weight, the defense is higher only for metal. Leather materials are also used when silencing is sought, but generally to save expensive materials. If expensive materials can be used at all costs like this one, leather materials are seldom combined.

Gustav laughed niggardly and said away, "I guess you thought Noon had ketched the material," he said again in a loud voice, "This has a reason!," he said, turning his attention to Dwarf, Richard and Everto, who lay beside him.

The two nodded heavily, going to the side of the stage and carrying another armor. It is attached to a wooden mannequin doll with a steel breastplate.

"This guy's not a prototype armor. This time, the inside of the armor made by Nong et al has these effects," he said, roughly taking out the hammer and tapping the mannequin armor as much as he wanted.

Though it sounds like a gong, it doesn't sound like metal that makes your ears hurt.

But I didn't tap it lightly, it was so striking that the front of the armor hung with the magic of hardening would sink.

"The weakness of metal armor so far is that it's vulnerable to blows! Strong against swords and spears, but if you are beaten with a hammer or a mace, the impact reaches inside. So they decided to absorb the shock by applying the soft leather inside the belly of the dragon."

Gustav is right, metal armor is vulnerable to blows. To cover it, a thick cloth armor called cloth armor "cross armor" is worn inside, but no dramatic effect is expected only with the cloth in question. Furthermore, wearing this in the summer, there is no escape for body temperature and there is a risk of heat stroke.

"I also have an idea for ground dragon leather. Well, Zach's magic is liver."

So I look at it like I'm supposed to explain it to you. I nod small and replace the explanation.

Removing the mannequin armor and looking inside, he said, "This is the ground dragon leather, but it is magical and softer than normal. The way to do this is to think of the leather as a water bag and make it look like there is liquid in the thin skin…" he explains, touching the leather part with puni.

This time, my idea was to develop shock absorbing materials. Imagine a gel-shaped shock-absorbing material to be used for underneath shoes, etc., and put it under metal armor. The most durable dragon leather in the leather material is used, and the composition is changed even more magically.

Only about a centimeter thick, but the shock absorption capacity is higher than I thought. Of course, not all shocks can be absorbed, and the kinetic energy received is gone, but the shock absorption performance is still far better than just a cloth.

I just haven't tried to see if the damage can really be mitigated because I didn't actually get a shock myself.

"… and the ground dragon leather also has a pair of piercing properties. The magic of hardening is imparted to the armor of the Mithril, but even in the unlikely event that it penetrates it, this material prevents the blade from penetrating…"

It is gel-shaped, but makes the fibers on the surface strong and dense, and furthermore intertwines the fibers in the gel part. This is also done by the "transformation” of the wooden attribute magic, but the image is famous for the aramid fibers used for bulletproof vests (ballistic vests), etc. - Kevlar of Dupont, etc.

Originally, dragon leather was a high-strength material, not so much hand applied, but the image of aramid fiber makes it even harder to cut. Of course, I don't know the detailed structure of aramid fibers, so I'm just making them in the image of polymerizing the molecules.

Along the way I was explaining, the Gustavs brought a plate of misthrills that was securely attached to thick wood. That's stuck in a barrel stuffed with solid sand to keep it from moving on impact.

"This Mithril board has the same structure as my fathers armor. It also imparts the magic of hardening, and it also affixes ground dragon leather."

Dan, who was on the sleeve of the stage, comes up with a crossbow, Ishiyumi.

"It's a common crossbow, Ishiyumi, but I'll try to shoot it in from close range. Dan, please."

Dan nodded small, releasing the Tai Yi "Bolt" toward the plate of Mithrills from a distance of about five meters. There is a sound of cancer, and Tai Ya is played loudly. Though the plate of misrills that became targeted was dented, penetration was prevented.

"Mithrills alone are strong enough in this way. Now let's see how effective the leather of the Grounddragon was against the sword."

That said, Dan goes down to his sleeve, and Mel comes up instead. Today, unlike yesterday, it's a complete adventurer style. I'm not wearing any protective equipment, but I have a Ulrich sword in my hand.

"As you know, this sword is the sword of the Drexler master. Exactly when you wrap up magic, it won't talk, so I'll try to see how capable you are without magic. Mel, I asked for it."

Mel laughs nicholly, bowing her head toward the venue and standing in front of the chest armor of the prototype Georg slapped with a hammer earlier.

Pulling out his sword with a serious look, he said, "Yah!" He waved his sword with the mood of tearing.

The steel plate was slashed and torn with the sound of “zash," but the armor was not torn in two, and the sword had stopped in such a way that it had been engulfed into the armor.

"Her swordsmanship skills are over fifty. I mean, not that I couldn't cut it because I had bad arms."

Remove the chest armor while saying so. Although the steel is completely slashed, the leather behind it is connected without completely slashing.

"It's a very hard material to slash like this. If it's a regular steel sword, you can't chop and tear first."

The Dwarves doubted their own eyes. Speaking of Ulrich, he's one of the best blacksmiths of our time. That's because he struck a sword with the best material, Adamantite, and even though a veteran class swordsman used it, he didn't chop it apart.

This time, the Wellburn armor craftsmen Gustav aimed to create protective gear that would withstand Ulrich's sword.

In the beginning, I couldn't fight it at all, and I had my head. Though there was an idea to combine it with leather protective equipment, the best sword ever struck by a superior blacksmith was of no use to that degree of ingenuity.

So I was supposed to get run over, but I didn't have a big idea either. So I ran in the direction of shock absorption, but it flashed then. I was wondering if you could do something hard to slash if you refer to bulletproof vests.

After trial and error, the ground dragon lining was completed.

The drawback is that the weight has increased slightly over the original schedule, but I believe that the original magic resistance of the misrils, the magic of hardening and the penetration resistance due to the surface of the ground dragon's leather, and the impact resistance due to the gel part of the ground dragon's leather have fully gained the capabilities necessary for the battle against the demons.

At the end of my explanation, Ulrich and the other blacksmiths go up to the stage and alternate between the prototype armor and the targeted plate, and the armor my grandfathers wear.

"It's brilliant. I didn't expect to incorporate so many new approaches."

That's how Gaelnote squeaks as impressed. Gustav and the others had a fine mustache with the look of doing it.
