Dream Life

Episode XI: The Backdrop to Goblin Eviction

Around noon on January 13th.

The Knight Canning of the Furfree family had his head in the information brought in by his men.

The information is that hundreds of goblins are attacking rural Tilly Bells in the south.

It was imperative that the village be wiped out if not quickly, but there were only fifteen squires here in Dammelor, and their squires were just officials.

Also, the adventurers, who always have about twenty people here, are out in the woods at this hour and it is impossible to convene them. Even if an emergency request was made to the adventurer, it was likely to be rejected due to this much difference in power.

Though he himself is in the chivalry class, he has not held a sword for the last twenty years or so, nor has he thought from the outset that he would take command of himself and head to the rescue.

It was an inevitable fact that the Knights would arrive as early as around noon tomorrow from Furfree, the capital of the Territory, but twenty km (Kimmel) away, and that the Tilly Bell would be wiped out altogether.

(There are hundreds of goblins...... probably the effect of the demon hunt the other day. I did a thorough research along the street, so I guess that's when the guys who escaped joined up. That's why I said it. If you're going to do it, if it's not on a wider scale, you're going to have damage...)

He had advanced to Viscount Furfley that it made no sense for demons to just run into the back of the woods, even if he tried to hunt only demons along the streets. But the Viscount kicked it over.

"We just need a period of time for the angels to pass by. No great demons will come out, but there must be no fact that demons have come out. Besides, from now on, it would be best to just sweep along the streets. There's a problem with the money."

Canning said nothing more. No, I couldn't tell you.

Even with him, I couldn't predict exactly what would happen, only because I recognized that experience often caused trouble, and I knew a hundred things that were budget tight.

This raid of a large group of goblins began when, as Canning expected, herds fled along the streets merged. Unfortunately, one of them was a special individual. It grew rapidly in the form of herds in which its special individuals were present absorbing small herds.

Very rarely, special highly intelligent individuals are born in goblins, oaks, and the like. In that case, a much larger group was created than the normal herd, which sometimes wiped out several villages altogether.

And to bad luck, it wasn't a good time.

Although in the relatively warm eastern realm of the Empire, it was now mid-winter and there were few nuts and small animals to feed the goblins. For this reason the goblins were all starving and moved to attack the affordable village to get food.

There was no information in the first report that there were special individuals, and Canning didn't feel that critical either.

Even assuming he had a sense of crisis, he had no hitter, and could only instruct his men to send out early horses to the Viscount and to gather information thoroughly.

Fortunately, it wasn't close to the streets, and I even hoped Viscount Radford, the angel as he was, would get out of the realm without realizing it.

But his thoughts were lightly covered.

A knight, Osborne Towerdin, an angel's escort, appeared and asked for information. Of course, we should consider the safety of the angel and actively circulate information from ourselves, but we gave priority to keeping ourselves and our master safe and did not intentionally disseminate information.

"... the streets are safe. The village under attack is about ten kimmels away, so safety to Burnhead is assured…"

So Rodrick Lockhart, a young knight who came with Towerdin, pinches his mouth.

"How about that Tilly Bell village? I don't think we have that much power here."

Canning wonders how to answer, but struggles to pick a word out of the fact that his opponent is a young knight with a strong sense of justice.

"Of course, I'm not going to kill you. We have already run a fast horse for rescue in fur free. The Knights will arrive as early as this afternoon to defeat the Goblins."

He didn't expect to arrive by the end of the day no matter how soon, but he decided to say confidently and carelessly.

But Rodrick is not convinced.

"Isn't it too late then? innocent people will lose their lives."

Canning made me want to yell at him about what he was going to do, but his opponent is a noble man who succeeds the Viscount family and is forced to swallow the word.

(This is why the young knight is in trouble. With me, if that's all I have, I'll send it right away...)

A suggestion was made by him as to whether in that mind it sounded like Rodrick.

"My Lockhart family is on their way to rescue. May I ask the deputy to acknowledge that?"

"Even though you are a man, is it okay for you to make such a promise? I hear there are about fifteen escorts in your house. It's like dying."

Canning argues with a slightly stronger tone, but Rodrick argues calmly, without getting hot.

"We have three excellent magicians in our house. Also, if you're a soldier in our house, you can defeat twenty or thirty on your own to the full extent of a goblin. Make your decision for the people."

Canning didn't believe Rodrick's words. Rumors had been heard that the Lockhart family had defeated the 13,000 undead with only 300 soldiers, but the rumors were eyebrow saliva and the real number was precisely about a thousand.

"You're not bright. I was wondering if it would be quicker for Sir Masaias to decide here."

When Towerdin told Rodrick to do so, he forcefully took out Canning by saying, "Now let's check with Lord Lockhart, combined with an explanation to His Highness the Viscount of Radford".

Canning is then strongly persuaded by Masaias Lockhart to let his men, Orlando and others, guide him.

(I could forcibly say no without an angel... how can I make an excuse to your palace... how far Viscount Radford would support my point, but the Viscount hears it as a courtesy with the Lockhart family. If anything happens to the Lockhart family, I will be taken responsibility...)

Canning began desperately to figure out how to make excuses after Viscount Furfree arrived.

■ ■ ■

Orlando, who was ordered by Canning to give directions, was as baffled as his boss.

(There's over two hundred goblins. I don't know how confident you are, but let the girls in and a little over twenty. Then even the goblin fits the slap surrounded by the opponent... That said, you can't abandon the nobility of becoming a Viscount. At least we have to let our lord and our man go home alive... oh, we can't go home alive with this...)

At worst, he was prepared that we had to shield ourselves and let the Lockhart family escape.

Running his horse and arriving near the village of Tilly Bell, he climbs up the hill to see the situation. There were countless goblins beneath his eyes like ants swarming with fallen fruits.

But he was slightly relieved.

(There are at least four or five hundred. Not to mention fighting when you see this sight......)

But his hopes crumbled brittle.

Our Lord Masaias attacked him with a horse.

There was something more shocking to him as I dropped him off stunned. That was Zacharias, my second son.

When Masaias gave him command, he ordered everyone, including Orlando, to enter the village.

(What fools! It's not a level of pig warrior or anything! ……

Zacharias gave Orlando and the others instructions to take the horses to a safe place when he ordered them to descend in front of the Goblins.

Orlando tried to argue, but Zacharias immediately gives another instruction without looking at him.

By that time, Masaias and the others were entering the village with goblins hanging on their hooves that would kill them at the gate. I begin to think that that brilliant horseback assault might have a chance of winning.

When he was in love with Masaias and others, Zacharias and three other magicians were casting spells. Orlando didn't expect anything about these three magicians either.

Regardless of the woman who is an elf, Zacharias and Sharon Jakes are only sixteen.

His common sense was that one magician was over thirty years old and only had enough arms to use simple attack magic.

Shortly after the magic activated, he stopped moving and spotted, despite his proximity to the battlefield.

Two giant dragons made of flames appeared in front of him, burning the goblins one after the other. The sky suddenly became brighter and a sphere of bright white light appeared. As I narrow my eyes to the glare, its spheres of light pour down one after the other, blowing the goblins away with the roar.

He was nothing but a country squire. He had never seen more magic, and with his men he could only open his mouth gently and watch.

To get here, Orlando honestly admitted he missaw the Lockhart family's prowess.

(Sometimes I just speak big language. If you do have this much power, you can't deal with hundreds of goblins or so. Then I'll just do what I can...)

When you start to think you can survive with something cash, you get zero natural laughter. He commanded his men to retrieve the horses that Zacharias and others had abandoned.

Collect the horse and climb into the middle of a hill that has rushed down.

By then, Beatrice, an incredibly large lady magician, had secured the gate and guarded it with her men. In addition, in the village, the Masaias have slaughtered and killed the goblins who entered the village from the horses.

The sight reassures me that the village has been saved.

He also had many acquaintances in this village. And most importantly, they were stroking their chests down that they could survive.

At ease he turned his eyes to Zacharias and others.

He was boldly slashing into a herd of goblins with young swordsman Melissa. I hadn't noticed before, but there's a big goblin ahead of me, and soon I realize I'm the king.

(He said it was a herd with kings! Are you okay with this? No, if we don't defeat them here, the villages around here will be wiped out. Maybe I should go too......)

Orlando is a veteran who turns thirty-eight this year, but the swordsman level only manages to be as good as twenty-five and one serving. Besides, I had barely been in action in the last decade or so.

Still, in order to fulfil his duty as a squire, he decided to be prepared to enter the Goblin herd with his men.

When he was ready and saw the battle again, it was incredible that Zacharias and the other gladiators had broken up the herd and turned to the king easily, without slowing down. Furthermore, magicians and archers are surely burying their enemies, and there is no danger whatsoever in seeing themselves, the amateurs of battle.

Of these, it was the activity of the twins Theophilus and Seraphine, aged eleven, who were particularly surprised. When I first see the two of them, he is blinded by his twin brothers and sisters with beautiful blonde hair like a doll. Those two wield boneless swords, slashing down goblins as tall as they are one after another.

(He's about ten years old. What the heck, that...)

Not only he but his men were equally stunned, and the temper to head to the battlefield sprouted upon them fogged away at once.

As the swordsmen approach the king of Goblin, the magic of the flames unleashed by Sharon, the sorcerer's girl, strikes the king. The head was so destroyed that it did not retain its original form, and its giant slowly fell.

The Orlandos were seeing the sight without cheering.

(It hasn't even been half an hour since it started. Have you already defeated the enemy's best balls? Is this real? Aren't I dreaming...)

The goblins, who have lost their kings, lose their will and begin to flee. But by that time, Masaias and others who had come out of the village had joined in and killed one goblin after another fleeing into the woods.

(The Lockhart rumor was true. Those young children are such arms. I wonder how much arm you are with Sir Govan, who is said to be a hero......)

The Furfree family squire stood idly by without taking any action. Next to them the horses were relaxing and eating grass.

The battle trend was set and the Rockhart family squire was beginning to stab a stop at the falling goblin. Still, the Orlandos couldn't move.

Orlando finally returned to me with one young man rushing over.

"Master Zacharias wants you to come to Orlando. He wants to ask the others to bring the horses into the village and, if possible, help with the processing of Goblin's body."

That's what the young man John told him with his beautiful salute.

Orlando hastily said, "Got it. Then give me some guidance," but I recall that a young man named John was a vigilante, not a squire, and he laughs bitterly at himself using reverence.

When he entered the village, Masaias and Zacharias were talking to Moses, the village chief.

Moses can't believe he survived, he doesn't have the usual cheerfulness and his eyes don't focus.

I wish I hadn't been disrespectful, but Zacharias makes me laugh bitterly about the circumstances.

I almost held my head when I heard Moses said that the only thing I could offer was a young daughter in the village, but I did not manage to greatly damage Masaias' mood.

I order Moses to help me with Goblin's body, and he starts carrying the body the same way.

I overheard my twin brothers and sisters passing it with pleasure and Melissa blurring that it was hard to take care of her armor.

(This is all there is to it. Why does it seem like so much fun... I don't know if you want to go into battle to this extent...)

He then strips the Goblins of their corpses of demonic crystal stones and possible tools.

"What shall we do with the Demonic Crystal Stone and the Martial Arts?

When Orlando asked that, Zacharias immediately answered whether he had already coordinated with Masaias.

"Use it to rebuild the village"

Orlando lost his word in the answer.

(Though Goblin's Demonic Crystal Stone, if you take it to your guild, it will be two kronas per shot. That's over five hundred, worth more than one white gold coin. And even though it was a crude weapon, there must have been more than two hundred swords. Sell them and you'll get two white gold coins... more than my six months salary. I told him to use it like nothing happened... I'm talking about selling alcohol to Dwarf opponents, but are you making so much money...)

Normally, if a demon crusade is carried out, its crystal stones and materials are in the possession of the crusader. That's the same even for nobles. To make it a bounty for those who took part in the crusade, but I was surprised that they turned it down.

I'll split up with the villagers and finish carrying Goblin's body. It ends up being roughed up by wild dogs and the like, but with a relatively short time to the point of throwing them away a little further from the village because they had to be left outside the village.

Orlando looked up at the sun and was surprised at its position.

(Is the sun still so high? It's only been about two hours. I'm just surprised today......)

He then leaves three of his men in the village and returns to Dammeler with the Lockhart family.

Viscount Furfley had arrived at Dammeller and rushed to the report.

After handing over the recovered Demon Crystal Stone, report to the Viscount about enough, but the Viscount does not utter a word in silence.

After a minute or so of silence, the Viscount slowly opens his mouth.

"I mean, the Lockhart family said they'd finished their crusade of five hundred demons in just two hours... you mean it wasn't a big deal for them... I don't expect you to spit a lie, but I can't believe it. But there are more than five hundred Demon Crystals here..."

Say that and be silent again.

The Viscount returned to me to convey his gratitude to the Lockhart family. So I talk about gratuities, but I am politely turned down by Masaias.

"It's been a good training. I didn't like defense so much the other day, but it's hard to go through a fight like that. You don't need to thank me. Hahaha!"

Furfley had trouble figuring out how to answer, and the gratuity story went to Ariel.

He then sent a report to Grand Duke Langton, the head of his faction, about this disturbance. In addition, the story is spread one after another by the merchants who were in Dammeller, but the story gradually grew larger and by the time the story spread to the Imperial Capital it had turned into a herd of "thousands” of demons, including Auga.

The Masaias and others who found out about this would be greatly puzzled.
