Dream Life

Episode XVII: A Walk Downtown

January 24th.

The morning after we arrived in Ezarrington.

Head to the Fourth Regiment's squad yard before nightfall to conduct pre-breakfast training as usual.

I thought no one was there because it was still dark time, but more than ten soldiers had already moved their bodies.

My father ordered me to behave without worrying about the soldiers, and we will focus on training as usual.

After ten minutes of bareback, mock warfare began as usual. By then, the sky will also begin to whiten, turning from herd blue to orange, and then clear sky blue.

My mock opponent is my brother Rod.

My brother is a gong swordsman conceded by his grandfather and currently has a swordsman level of fifty seven. It is above the level of fifty recognized as top notch at twenty.

My swordsman level on the other hand is forty-eight. It's normal to not see a winning chance when there is so much difference in level, but my physical abilities are high, and my dodging level is even higher than fifty-three, so I can fight to some extent without having to use demon fighting techniques.

As the Lockhart family fluttered, the simulation began without a signal.

My brother waves down his wooden sword all the time as a leading must-win, but because of his honest character, the attack is easy to read and not as difficult as the first hand dodging.

My brother also thought the first hand would be avoided, or he would soon come after my leg with a slashed down sword. This series of attacks is sharp and difficult to avoid even if you know it will come in a posture shortly after evasion. Even if he manages to dodge it critically, his brother's continuous attacks will not stop, but will strike him from various directions.

Stormy attacks persist that you don't even have time to breathe. If you loosen the hand of the attack slightly, you can fight back with the magic trick, but your brother knows it, so he won't loosen his hand.

Dozens of slaughters are carried out in about a minute and gradually hunted down. But you can't get your hands on a misery here. If there's a difference in local power so far, they'll set the counter against the counterattack.

This place is even wiser to focus on dodging and wait for my brother to get tired and make mistakes.

My brother has more stamina than I do, but my brother, who keeps waving his sword, is more focused on avoiding it. I accumulate fatigue than me. My brother's hand stops where the attack lasted for about two minutes.

"Ha ha... I knew Zach was good at avoiding it. Ha ha..."

My brother says so with a laugh, but he can't afford to just answer that to me, and he's breathing on his shoulders haha.

Hang the Demon Martial Arts on your legs while the attack stops, attacking your brother at once before he recovers.

My brother has recovered slightly in that short period of time, and he fights back as he plays my slash. When this happens, there is a difference in local power, and vice versa, they push it in all at once.

After a few matches, he takes a strong blow to his right arm, removes the wooden sword and pokes him in the knee.

So the mock war with my brother ended. My right arm is not broken, but I am powerless at all, and the pain of gin strikes me. There seems to be a crack in it.

"You can't have a meeting. It's a complete defeat," I say, hanging healing magic on my right arm.

"No, they're getting harder and harder to push, so they're gonna do it eventually."

I didn't realize it in the simulation, but the sky was completely brighter and there were more than a hundred soldiers around us watching.

Yesterday, I don't know if we're free, but I guess it's rare because we don't get to see any training other than ourselves.

At the end of his morning training, when he tried to return to the castle, a knight spoke to his father.

"I am Gillian Fowler, captain of the platoon direct from the Fourth Legion..."

A knight named Fowler is slightly shorter than his father, but with a disappointing physique, unusual for an imperial regular army that often uses standard equipment, he carries a large sword.

In the late thirties, as old as my father in the ages, I often had a grin on my burnt face in the sun.

As soon as my father returns his greetings, he cuts to the point.

"Sir Lockhart has a favor to ask."

"Like what?" My father gave it back, grinning niggly.

"We hear they train in the evening as well. I'd really like to ask you to work with us on that."

My father answers by changing his expression to something serious.

"We can also suffer injuries that can lead to death in our homes. You ready for that?

"Regardless, I'm ready for that. It's famous to talk about anything but instant death."

That's what Fowler has been saying all along.

My father agreed, so I joined the conversation.

"My name is Zacharias Lockhart. I would like you to tell me one thing: do you know His Excellency the Duke of Ezarrington and His Excellency the Fourth Legion Commander on this matter?"

Fowler anticipated my questioning, and replied, "No matter, I have your permission,"

"Your Excellency has also affirmed that, in the unlikely event that the dead come out, they will not be held responsible. I guess that's it."

I do not understand Lord Etherlington's thoughts, but what he has said publicly on this occasion will not develop into a question of responsibility.

After adjusting the evening training time, etc., return to the castle for breakfast. I sweated in the castle bathroom and headed to the same hall as yesterday for breakfast.

Before we arrived in the hall, Viscount Radford was leaving for the Imperial City. He's going back to Seawell to rendezvous with us after making the report in Imperial City.

A hundred and thirty kilometers from here to the imperial capital. After moving that in three days and reporting to the Chancellor, they'll be back in two days to Seawell, a hundred kilometers away. I don't think he's an angel, but he wanted to make some time to talk to me about the brewery.

Have breakfast with the Dukes and confirm your plans for today.

The plans will be explained by a knight named Roy Elgar, but it seems he is the commander of the escort.

"… in the morning we go to the Paston Chamber of Commerce, then we take a stroll nearby, for lunch at the Hotel Ezarrington restaurant… then we plan to pay a respectful visit to the Blacksmith Guild in the Blacksmith District of the West End and return to the castle around 3 p.m. Lady Laurencia, would you be so kind?"

A knight named Elgar had a strong side with a big scratch on his face, with an atmosphere similar to that of Byron Seedorf. He's a former mercenary and is now tasked with commanding Uncle Rednap's convoy of escorts.

"Yeah, that's fine. Nice to meet you all."

Laurencia will confirm, but there can't be any difference between us.

Around 9 a.m., I leave the castle.

If it's just us, we'll walk, but the Duchess will use the carriage to accompany us.

The men of the Lockhart family do not wear protective gear for what they wear swords and wear knightly clothes. The women are not big on it, but they look like dresses and fur coats.

This is also to pay tribute to the Duke's Ladies, and Liddy and Beatrice blur that they should wear it everyday.

In the meantime, I was the only one dressed as usual: black cape on top and bottom of black.

The Duke's Lady, Laurencia, puts together a bright purple cape in a one-piece shaped dress with a white tone. I see nobility in clarity, and I admire that you are the Duke's Lady.

Primrose, on the other hand, wears a pure white half coat made of snow wolf fur in a light pink dress. It feels adorable as old as fifteen.

Sims and Dan are the only Lockhart family escorts today.

This is to get the escort out of the Duke's house, but Luke Wilby and other newcomers and vigilantes use this time to take care of horses and equipment. They're free to get out of the city if they have time, but they're not on the edge of the metropolis. They spend time relaxing in the castle until the evening training.

Angie, Elena, and Luna accompany us as our mothers' companions.

When I was ready to leave, me and my brother Rod were supposed to escort the two ladies into the carriage. I don't know if it's okay with my father and my brother, but from the Duke's point of view, I don't have a choice not to get involved.

Liddy said about this, "I wish I didn't have to go that far. You can't stay with me," he complained, "but he manages to forgive me. I laugh bitterly in my heart at an attitude different from last night's story.

"Then Lady Laurencia. This way," he said, putting out his arms and directing them to a luxurious carriage with the Ezzarington family crest along with Laurencia, who took my arm.

"Thank you for a day," chuckles Nicoli. Yesterday's challenging atmosphere, though still there, would look like a good relationship from the side.

(Did the Duke explain? You feel like you know what this walk means...)

I get in the carriage thinking about that.

My brother escorts Primrose in and finally my father and mother get in and ready to leave.

Laurencia looks out for Elgar and leaves.

Unlike the Lockhart family carriage, the ride is uncomfortable because there is no suspension or tire. The noise is terrible because I run cobblestones, and I can't even talk properly.

(Don't be a mortal once you get used to something easy. Makes me want to ride our carriage......)

Still, I can't be without talking about anything, talking to Laurencia sitting next to me.

"You know, Lawrencia thought you were going somewhere today."

"Yeah, I am. I've been thinking about where you guys might enjoy yourselves. Rose came up with a lot of ideas..."

Though the territory, I don't know if the Duke's Lady is familiar with the information in downtown, but she gathered information from many places and planned it.

"The Paston Chamber of Commerce deals with food. I heard, what kind of stuff do you deal with"

Shake a topic that you seem to know so that you can talk uninterruptedly. It seems to have been information I know, and I am happy to explain it to you. I think she's a mid-teenage girl when she looks like this again.

"We hear the Paston Chamber of Commerce deals extensively with cereals, seafood, alcohol, etc. I am also in and out of my Ezarrington family. Thomas and I have met several times..."

I haven't heard much of anything that went into it, but it sounds like something like a comprehensive food trading company. If you were a merchant in the Duke's house, you would be on a large scale, and I was just looking forward to it.

Primrose has joined me and Laurencia's story.

"They also trade in processed fruit and sugar. Sometimes you bring me rare treats. With that said, you think Master Zacharias is the inventor of the cold treat Gelato? I heard they've invented another cake like never before."

Whether you like sweet things, or because your parents have lost their eyes, they hit and talk to you differently than yesterday. I'm asking you to stop wearing it, but your father says something to you, and you won't stop.

I have no choice, so I leave it as it is, but as far as I can almost say civilians at present, I care that they look dignified from around me. I'm going to answer her question even though I think about it.

"Yeah, gelato was my idea. I also thought about pound cakes with brandy, but that's about it. We don't have so many repertoires."

"You think Master Zacharias was immediately taught the Gelato of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce in Imperial City? We went to a lot of Gelato shops, but there are many different types of Gelato from the Robbins Chamber of Commerce, and they are my favorite."

As Primrose speaks in a cannibalistic manner, Laurencia notes with a slightly grumpy voice.

"It's all about food, it can't be, Rose. Sir Zacharias is in trouble, too."

"No, it's okay, Lawrencia. Because I love eating too. Of course, I prefer drinking."

I try my best to be a host, but my father and brother just have a relief look on their face, and they barely help me. I guess my father, my brother, and of course my mother can't give me a help boat on a topic like this, but I would like a little help.

About fifteen minutes after departure, you arrive at your destination or the carriage stops. This carriage had only wooden windows and was due in the middle of winter, so I can't see outside at all. That's why I don't even know what place I've been running. I just know that people are heard from outside the carriage and have come to a busy commercial district.

The carriage door was knocked and Elgar's voice was heard, "We have arrived".

When the door was opened, it was a commercial district facing the boulevard, lined with four-story stone buildings. When I get off the carriage, I'm surprised that I'm surrounded by more people than I thought.

I hear the people say, "Who is that?" If an unknown man, who is not even an escort, comes out of a carriage with the Duke's family crest on it, he will have no choice but to be confused.

Ignore that voice and stand beside the carriage door.

When Laurencia appeared, she said, "Lady Laurencia!," or "Welcome home, lady!" The voice hangs. She has offered her right hand, smiling at it.

When I took the hand and escorted, the people squeezed their voices like they were confused.

Laurencia doesn't realize the confusion of the people, she talks to me without showing any reaction.

"This is the head office of the Paston Chamber of Commerce," he said, indicating the big shop in the front with his left hand.

The store had many windows with glass and was about two turns larger than the other shops. That's all I can tell is that I have the financial resources, but it was obvious that there were many products lined up and thriving in the stores peeking through the windows.

My brother escorts Primrose and my father and mother come down. In the other carriages Liddy and the others had already got off and were facing the way people were overflowing the boulevard.

"Welcome aboard. Lady Laurencia, Lady Primrose."

A loud voice sounds a little cracked. The Lord of his voice is bald, heartbeat, thin-eyed fifty past man with a full grin and rubbing hands.

"Long time no see, Paston," Lawrencia responded, prompting Paston to say, "It'll be cold, go inside," he said.

Entering the store following Paston, it is wrapped in herbal, dry and cereal aromas. In a store that is brighter than I thought by the windows and the magic props of the lights, there are polished oak tables and counters, with lots of stumps arranged on the shelves, whether it's a sample behind the counter or not.

When Paston greets Laurencia again, he greets us with a full grin, too.

"I'm late for my application. I am the head of this Chamber of Commerce, my name is Thomas Paston. Later, get to know each other."

I say that and bow my head deeply.

Following my father, when I named him, he opened his eyes slightly and said, "Are you the famous Lord Zacharias?"

"Are you famous?......" when asked to whine,

"Even our Chamber of Commerce deals in small quantities, but we also deal with Seawell wines. There's no way I don't know the name of Lord Zacharias, the son of the liquor god, more than dealing with liquor."

When they said that, I ran out of words to give back, and I had to shut up.
