Dream Life

Episode XXIX: The Seawell Family Supper

January 28th.

I finished my evening training and made wine jelly with Luna as a dessert tonight. God had told me that she was a reincarnator, but none of the other information was available. But this time, I found out that I was old enough to do the cooking on a daily basis.

It's dinner time, but it doesn't feel like a banquet today, it's a soothing dinner.

Attendees are only the Rockhart family to the Marquis of Seawell and the Duke of Ezarrington, and the place is not the Great Hall, but the dining room for the Marquis (dining room), where the squire goes to the servant's dining room.

It's already past six p.m., but Viscount Radford hasn't returned yet, apparently, and he hasn't seen his face.

I don't feel like I've exhausted my luxury, but a meal will be served that I can tell is hanging on to. The meat is made from salted pigs, and the vegetables are also well preserved. There are many root vegetables and cresons and leeks that can be harvested at this time of year. Even though they're marquises, they don't just eat all the dishes they've put out of their luxury every day.

No one has spoken of it, but the Marquis himself explained why.

"My Seawell family is committed to quality. Now it's time to moisturize with wine, but I used to do my best just to maintain my lowest standards as a Marquis. I'm still trying to eat that dish so I don't forget that time."

Including me, the Lockhart family shares that notion. The Lockhart family also uses the same materials as they used to without luxury even now that they have become wealthy in Scotch.

Most importantly, I use spices and other condiments in a way that I don't compare to the past, and I change the menu with a view to nutritional balance.

When we were impressed, the Marquis laughed nicely,

"That's in front of the building. I like these dishes," he adds.

"Besides, this dish is a reproduction of a reputable store in the city. I wish I could eat and walk like Ignacious, because you just can't walk easy in my shoes. Today's dishes also tell the chef what Ignacious has found."

Laughter leaks into that word, but I was thinking of something else.

(Aren't you thinking of serving it as a Seawell dish to the Imperial City? Master Ignacious would come up with it, and I feel like it's part of that strategy to become famous as a "gastronomic city"...)

Marquis Seawell has a bright personality, but also a strong side. A prominent example is during the troubles of Jonas, the son of last year's brother at his wedding, who not only reprimands Jonas for making the drunken place look good, but also uses wine to make a splendid occasion, protecting his family name and his man.

As the Marquis put it, all the dishes that came out for dinner were common but delicious. Above all, it is exquisite that it is flavoured to suit Seawell wines, and it has been calculated from the new wine that has just been made to the wine that is being aged since last year.

"That's delicious. Especially the beef and leek soup would go well with the new liquor," Liddy says, and Beatrice nods loudly as well.

"What do you say? It's inside, isn't it?" "I'm impressed that's the city of gastronomy," replied the Marquis, as he had heard.

"I owe this to you too," the Marquis said with a serious face.

If you don't know what that word means, and you're leaning your neck,

"Last year, when Ignacious went to the village of Lasmore, you showed off the perfect combination of booze and cooking, didn't you? That Ignacious said," I've never eaten that much food before. "Then I started researching what to do with wine and food combinations…"

It was Viscount Radford who brought the Seawell wine, which was to be given as an apology last March. It seems to be the beginning that I served a lot of creative dishes at that time.

"I get bored with one dish. If there is something delicious in the local cuisine, then you can pair the wine with the dish. That's what I came to the conclusion. I'm sorry to say this, but my pride won't allow me to serve it in the nearby village of Rasmore, but I can't serve it in Seawell, which is said to be a gastronomic city."

I guess so, but I don't remember serving so much food.

"I think that's a good idea, but I don't remember serving so much food? That was just decided by my taste, not so restrained and matched..."

"That's why. Until now, including Ignacious, we had cooked and drunk caricaturally. But you weren't. I always wondered how to make it taste better with a limited amount of ingredients. That's what impressed me the most."

When it can be lifted so far, it will surface. Not sure if I want to argue, Laurencia has joined the conversation.

"You're right, little Clement. I joined the Blacksmith Guild Feast, and that's why I thought the Dwarves were so enthusiastic about you."

My sister Primrose is also nodding at the words.

"It's not that big of a deal..." I could only say.

I then sifted the wine jelly I made with Luna as a dessert.

There are various shapes of jelly on white plates, such as heart shapes and star shapes. Slightly less transparent, but with whipped raw cream and mint leaves on top, it looks beautiful enough.

Everyone shouts surprise at the look of it.

"I didn't know there was such a beautiful dessert," Marquis Mildred, sitting next to her, asks the Marquis, "This is the first time I've seen it, but this is food".

"This wine jelly is made from wine from new liquor. Alcohol 'Alcohol' is flying, so it's okay for your child to eat it. It may be a little sweet, but please enjoy."

When you finish explaining, everyone moves the spoon.

"Oh, it's delicious! And it's as beautiful as a ruby, and it smells..."

Sweet-loving Primrose has a voice in excitement.

"It can't be, Rose," said Laurencia.

"But this is a really delicious dessert, as Rose put it. It belongs to Sir Zacharias' original?

"I have the original dish, and I thought it was going to be imperial, but have you ever seen it?

Answer my question "no," and look to check with my sister as well, but Primrose is obsessed with wine jelly and doesn't notice my sister's gaze.

Even Beatrice, who doesn't show much interest in sweet things, admires it.

"What kind of alcohol goes with this?," Liddy asked, smiling slightly bitterly.

"This is totally sweet. If you insist, sparkling wine."

Marquis Seawell speaks to my words.

"If sparkling wine is cold, why don't you bring it? There must have been something from the Lockhart family."

The salary goes down saying "immediately". Marquis Seawell also received sparkling wines along with aged Seawell wines.

He rushed back on his feet as the servant pressed a wagon with a wine cooler with sparkling wine on it.

Unplug immediately and distribute the glass. That just seems to be the Seawell family's service, and the handiwork was very good.

Marquis Seawell receives the glass and mouths the glass while eating wine jelly. The glass came around to me, so I'll try to pinch it the same way, but I still can't say it fits very well.

(Don't feel like Babaloa or something would suit you better than wine jelly. The sourness of sparkling wine and the sourness of wine jelly feel like a little fight......)

That's what I thought, but the Marquis said, "Uhm. This is good," he nods contentedly.

Liddy liked it the same way, "That's delicious," he said. Other faces nod the same way, but only one person was different. That was Primrose.

"I should have left it..." he stares at the empty plate, teary-eyed. The Marquis, smiling at the look of it, had ordered me to bring another to the service.

A second wine jelly is delivered to Primrose. Laurencia has a blaming eye, but she didn't realize Primrose was obsessed with the dessert in front of her.

"Delicious... it fits very well..." he says with a tranced look. Laurencia had a look similar to giving up on that look and grumbled "punish me later..."

"Did you feed me this as part of a wine dish proposal?

"Exactly," he replied to the Marquis' question,

"If it's a wine city, I thought we could have a dessert with wine."

"I see. Nice looking beauty, though the flavor is also subtle. You mean this is one of Seawell Wine's luxury strategies... more and more, I wanted to add you to my ranks. Will you think about it again?"

I am fascinated by the solicitation, but I said no once again.

Viscount Ignacious Radford returned from the Imperial Capital when he finished his supper and the guests returned to their respective rooms.

When he finished his report as an angel, he ran through a distance of one hundred and thirty km (Kimmel) in just two days. If you add one hundred and fifty kimmels from Ezarrington to Teito, you will be traveling the distance of two hundred and eighty kimmels in five days.

Especially on my journey back to Seawell, I travel by ride without using a carriage. The fact that a civilian is riding more than sixty kimmels a day is an anomaly in itself, but even though there is a knight of escorts, it was even more anomalous that he was running a horse in the dark, so much so that rumors arose that something might have happened in the Imperial capital.

Radford was experiencing pain in his lower back on an unfamiliar ride, but he put up with it and gave a report to his lord, Lord Seawell. Upon completion of the report, he immediately questioned Bernard Dalungton about Zacharias' findings.

"So, what was Lord Zacharias's opinion?"

Darunton laughs bitterly in his heart at the urgency, but starts reporting immediately. While looking at the notebook at hand, he first explained the recommendations made in the brewery and in the field.

"… it was suggested that Sir Zacharias should subdivide the wines he brews from village to village by field. He also said we should see what the barrel will taste like for each age and ingredient"

Marquis Seawell nodded with a difficult face, and Radford nodded, "I see."

"You mean the same as managing distilled liquor? I don't know about the barrel, but is it something that changes in the field? Sure, the shape of the distiller and the artisan arms will change the taste of the distillery liquor, but the wine just crushes the grapes and naturally liquors. I don't think it's going to change that much. Did Lord Zacharias say anything about that?"

"I had the same question," Darunton said, then explains.

"They vary subtly depending on sunshine, soil quality, ventilation, and tree age. It wasn't just that, it was also that the timing of the harvest would have a huge impact. We always check the quality after subdivision, and we also get suggestions that we should analyze the factors of what makes a good field different, whether it is a field or a maker."

"I see. That would convince me. Certainly the taste will change even if the grape maker is just different..."

Radford further said, "How's the improvement in the basement?" I ask. Darunton laughed bitterly once after seeing a note he desperately wrote down. Radford was concerned about the look on his face.

"Is something wrong?

"No, I just thought I'd come up with all that often"

"Sure. I thought the same thing," Lord Seawell laughs equally bitterly.

Dalungton, with his tight expression, explains what was written in the note.

"Firstly, he said a partition should be made to prevent outside wind from entering through the unloading inlet. He also said that the curtain should be kept out of the light or the storage room should be separated. To ensure that the bottle does not vibrate as much as possible, so that it is not slightly touched… to label the bottle for identification as it may be simple and to carry out quantity control… to boil the bottle so that mold does not grow during cleaning…"

Radford shrugged without wondering "Is there more?" at the number.

"Yes, I haven't been able to sort it out because they really told me what I can think of and there may be duplicates, but I kept talking enough......"

Radford opens his eyes wide and says, "Thank you for your hard work." Dalungton, who was tired, was relieved that the later explanation would only take place after tomorrow.

But Radford's next word crushes his hopes.

"I want to hear everything by the end of the day. If you're tired, please explain."

I drop my shoulders disappointed at that merciless word, but this boss reminded me that he was an uncompromising figure if it was for gastronomy, and gave me a look similar to giving up.

(Sir Zacharias is also a person who does not compromise on alcohol, but Lord Radford was also a person who does not compromise on gastronomy... I knew this would happen somehow, but I should have had an inspection done after you returned...)

Afterwards, Darunton's explanation continued until late at night.
