Dream Life

Episode 49: "Chancellor Duke of Phyllobisher: Later"

The following day, the Senate was convened for consultations on the forthcoming war against Lukes.

This was the proposal of Lord Alexis, who was worried that the treatment of the Fourth Corps was floating in the universe, in the name of wanting to discuss it with him.

"Then I would like to begin discussing the proposal made by Lord Etherlington."

The Grand Duke of Langton asked to speak shortly after the opening words of the meeting of Non.

"I heard it was a suggestion to increase your power in the game against Lukes, but what exactly is that?

In contrast, Lord Alexis answers with a soft look as usual.

"I returned to Ezarrington the other day, and my Fourth Corps has been held in Ezarrington for a long time, and I am concerned about the decline in morale, not to mention,"

"Well, when you see a drop in morale in the elite and prestigious Fourth Corps?

"Yeah, it seems to expose you to shame, but the other day, when the Lockhart family stayed in Ezarrington, we had a mock fight with the elite of our legion. The result, as you know, is a tragic failure. Despite how martial arts names are given, the vigilante is a peasant. It was defeated by peasants that regular army soldiers in the Imperial Army should protect. I can't think of anything other than low morale."

The story of the elite of the Fourth Corps losing to the vigilante is famous and seems to have been known by most. For this reason, many nod instantly.

"So you want to put the Fourth Corps on the front line and tighten it back up? I agree. With the addition of the Fourth Legion and the famous Lord Ezarrington, we can overwhelm Luke. I don't know if we can get to the capital, but punishment will do us good."

When Grand Duke Langton says so and agrees, Lord Kendrew, Prince Leopold and Commander of the Fifth Regiment, also nods loudly.

"I also share the Grand Duke's opinion. Military spending just keeps hanging on sloppy troops. Then you should increase your power and put a piece on it at once."

The two men, the main warriors, asserted with a rough nose.

"But isn't one legion excessive when it comes to augmentation"

Lord Ingolslop manages to speak out to stop talking about the march.

"Sure. Waste troopers oppress finances. I don't think the Chancellor is going to be able to do this all the time."

Lord Gabiston follows Lord Ingolthrop.

"Fair enough, calm down. Lord Alexis's proposal is still on the way."

Four people have turned a strange face to the arbitration of Non. Nevertheless, I will send my eyes to Lord Alexis.

"In addition to my Fourth Regiment, my proposal is that you also march to the Second Regiment of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to return His Highness Leopold's Third Regiment to the Imperial Capital. The Third Regiment will also be exhausted by prolonged stationing, so at this point you just have to attack them with a new Regiment."

Grand Duke Langton turns red on his face and gets angry at the suggestion.

"Doesn't it make it as if we don't know the situation of the enemy countries, such as replacing the front-line generals? This is simply good for the enemy."

"Don't worry about that. We'll leave the Northern Governor's office forces intact to know the hostilities, so there's no problem."

"Still, morale is inevitable."

"Both the Second Corps and the Fourth Corps will be newly deployed, so it won't be a problem in terms of morale. I don't expect anything from the Northern Governor's office in the first place."

The Grand Duke of Langton will no longer make a sound to Lord Alexis, who answers rationally.

"But isn't it dangerous for His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to march?"

Lord Ingolslop disagrees, but Lord Alexis will also give a clear answer to this.

"The Second Corps should have been an outpost in the first place. And there's our Fourth Corps."

"But Your Highness doesn't have enough experience"

"I will serve you responsibly in that regard. Or am I short?"

Lord Ingolslop couldn't say anything more either.

"Isn't that good? I thought it would be a good opportunity for His Royal Highness to show his authority. I agree."

When Lord Gabiston says so and agrees, Lord Ingolslop nods, "Sure" too.

"Doesn't it then look like His Highness Leopold will be alternated? It would be a terrible maneuver against His Highness, who has won so far."

Archduke Langton argues.

"His Highness Leopold will be triumphant. You must be getting enough out of it."

I try to say "but......" to the words of Lord Alexis, but no more words.

Non saw it as an opportunity and joined the conversation.

"As Lord Alexis put it, His Highness Leopold was sufficiently effective. But if time passes any longer, the impression of victory will fade."

A lot of people made up their minds with these words.

"Then there is no one who disagrees with Lord Etherington's proposal regarding the march of the Second and Fourth Legions and the triumph of the Third Legion."

Everyone nodded small and Lord Alexis' proposal was approved.

"We now need His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to implement the restructuring of the Second Corps as soon as possible. I apologize to His Excellency the Grand Duke and Lord Kendrew, but I would like your help. Others say His Highness is troublesome, and he's going back to Empire City."

The two of us returned the answer "I understand".

"If possible, why not head to the Second Regiment garrison even the day after tomorrow and depart on March 5th, a month later. The Fourth Regiment also leaves Ezarrington on the same day to rendezvous at Lark Hill. I think this is a good time to strike the enemy during the spring farming season..."

After the meeting is over, join Lord Alexis.

"That went well"

"Uhm. But I wonder if I'm glad. I'm sorry to say, His Royal Highness is an amateur about the battle. The quality of the Second Corps has also continued to decline since His Majesty's time. I think that would put a considerable burden on Lord Alexis."

This time it was a measure to keep His Royal Highness from the Imperial capital, which Alexis and I thought about.

"I have no problem with that. The Fourth Regiment and the Northern Governor's Office will be the main forces, and the Second Regiment will be asked to stand by at Lark Hill."

"Is that good? His Royal Highness Leopold is the one who folded it. I don't think your lord would insult his enemies, but if the front were just as glued, I wouldn't be able to see it."

Lord Alexis denies it with an extra grin.

"Don't worry about that either. This time the strategic objectives are clear."

He was certainly right. Until now, it was an unclear aim to strike enemies by means of punitive troop contributions, and it was not clear whether the goal was also occupation or the annihilation of enemy forces.

However, the goal has been set to bring out enemies and drain them.

In addition, Lord Ingolslop and commercial guilds who were interfering cannot interfere with His Royal Highness, so they are more free to fight than His Royal Highness Leopold.

As far as war is concerned, there is no longer any major concern. All you have to do is say how long Lord Alexis will fit in, and you can leave it to him regarding this.

Lord Alexis lifted his hips to pull him up to the mansion. But Non still had something to talk about.

"Well, whose idea is this?

"I don't know what you mean?" I love you, but I'm not going to let you like me any more.

"Everything this time is good for Lockhart. If your lord puts his shoulder in Lockhart, that's fine, but maybe it's time you told Non the truth?

The grin from Lord Alexis to earlier disappears and he is hardened with his mouth shut.

"Isn't this Zacharias Lockhart's idea? I know you're trying to hide it cleverly, but the use of dwarves has changed my suspicions."

"It…" he mumbles, but pursues it regardless.

"I can't use Dwarves on Lord Alexis. There is only a dwarf, or a lockhart. If it's Lockhart, only Zacharias can think of such a way."

"Has His Excellency the Chancellor still spotted you..."

You finally noticed, Lord Alexis began to speak once he looked to heaven. But that was a story that overturned Non's expectations.

"As your Excellency thinks, it was Lockhart's who thought of that measure. But not Zacharias"

"That's crazy. My lord, Masaias, the man Rodrick is a samurai. I can't think of anything but Zacharias."

So he corrected his abode, and gazed at Noh from the front.

"I will say this to Your Excellency first. Zacharias never uses Dwarves. Whether it's a situation where you're ready to die, that person never uses his friends. And this is the same for our lord, Masaias, the man Rodrick."

"No, isn't that strange? That man used a blacksmith's guild to retaliate against the Light Divinity. It would be an indisputable fact"

"Sure, that statement looks that way, but what about the facts? That wasn't meant for the blacksmith guild, it should have been for national governments. He assumed that dignitaries from all over the country would overreact, and he made that statement. We were stuck with it."

Indeed, that statement merely declared to countries and organizations conferring on the Light Divinity that they would not sell the liquor that would be Zach's collection. The magician's guild scattered it all over the world.

"Sure, but what does that have to do with this one?"

"This time, Fink, the branch manager, has embarked on negotiations. Thirty parents, too. If Zacharias was involved, he would have moved himself. Even if you know it's more effective to use Dwarves."

"So who conceived and implemented that measure? What if..."

One woman's information floats in Noon's head.

"Is that Sharon Jakes, Zacharias' fiancée?

"My Lord Left."

"According to the information we have, the Wise One is second only to Zacharias... I also heard that he is hiding behind Zacharias and is doing a lot of tricks..."

"Exactly. In fact, the Lord of the letters sent to me was Sharon. Looks like they're turning their hands on the commercial and magician guilds, too."

I'm more impressed with the handicap. Leaving it like this, however, threatens to lead to growth.

"But don't like it. Such a little girl took me by the balls."

"I agree with you on that. Because Zacharias will cry the name of the old Duke of Ezarrington, even if his fiancé will do it to him."

That's what I said and laughed niggly.

"Right. Let's remember this debt. Sometimes it means holding my husband firmly accountable. Huuuuuuuuuu..."

Non decided to think a little deeper now about what to do with the Lockhart family.

■ ■ ■

On the afternoon of Feb. 7, Miles Isherwood, branch manager of the Sorcerer's Guild, was at the Grand Duke Langton mansion.

It was originally the best meeting of the afternoon, but it is awaited until 3pm due to the sudden coming in Senate meeting.

Still, I wasn't dissatisfied with him. The Grand Duke, a power comparable to the Chancellor, is the opponent, and to this extent because it is a daily tea meal.

The Grand Duke looked grumpy and it was clear that something had happened in the Senate.

Isherwood mourns in his heart that the timing was bad, but greets him with care to keep grinning. But the Grand Duke said annoyingly, "What can I do for you? This one's busy," he said.

"Then I will speak to you directly and individually. Your Excellency asked if you would like to add the Lockhart family to the distribution. We've come to dedicate our efforts to that end."

The Grand Duke showed a slight interest and encouraged ahead with his jaw.

"The Lockhart family has a second son, Zacharias, who essentially sets the policy for the Lockhart family. And the important thing is that he has two wives and two fiancées, all of whom are rumored to be beautiful women. What would happen if the rumor reached His Royal Highness the Crown Prince..."

Isherwood aimed for a dramatic effect, where he cut the word. When I make sure the Grand Duke is showing interest, I open my mouth again.

"I hear His Royal Highness can love a beautiful woman. Then it is imperative that His Highness ask for the wives of Zacharias. And Zacharias cares very much for his wife. In other words, if His Royal Highness protects his wives before they reach out, Zacharias will necessarily be grateful to His Highness and the Lockhart family will work for His Highness. Specifically…"

He tried to explain more specific measures. But the Grand Duke waves annoyingly to stop it.

"Is that so? Unclogged."

Isherwood opens his eyes to the word.

"It's definitely an effective measure to get the Lockhart family. My measures…"

"I don't have time for His Highness to lay hands on Zacharias and his wife. I will tell you because it will also be announced tomorrow, but His Highness will be marched to Luke's. The day after tomorrow you will enter the Second Regiment garrison and prepare. I mean, I don't have time to let a woman out of depression. No, this nonsense won't give. Even if he is the Commander of the Imperial Army. We have to be able to behave accordingly."

Isherwood is stunned by the words of the Grand Duke.

(Measures to use the Crown Prince are totally ineffective... why are you suddenly doing this...)

The Grand Duke stood up and said to him, "If that's all you need, you can go home."

Isherwood looked for words to hang but couldn't find them and had to bow his head and drop them off.

He then returned to the Sorcerer's Guild to summon his subordinate, Ansel Brennan.

"What do you mean? I haven't heard anything about the Crown Prince leaving the capital."

Brennan said with the usual faceless expression, "I've never heard that story before. When is that a decided story," he replies quietly.

"He said it was decided in the Senate the best this afternoon."

"Then neither do we."

Brennan quietly argues, but Isherwood strongly reprimands.

"It would be my job to find it! It was decided in the Senate, which means there was some movement under the water!

"I'm sorry. But I was wondering if such rumors had grasped neither the military nor the commercial guild at all. Perhaps His Excellency the Chancellor was carried in secret."

Brennan was remembering the girl she met a few days ago, albeit well.

(That's amazing stuff. I didn't know I'd finish hitting my hand with all this time...... now if I didn't weigh myself down, the branch manager would turn her completely against the enemy. Well, for me, I'm not interested in the future of the branch manager or anything, but do you want me to sell you a favor to the Lockhart family for insurance...)

He decided to keep Sharon informed.

After Isherwood reprimanded Brennan, he thought frustratingly about the future, but he had no information at his disposal, and in the end he didn't think of anything.

(I can always use this one! My men who were in Doctus would have brought more information, but the staff here can't use it at all...)

He was making a mistake.

He would have moved himself without throwing a round at his men before. But since his expulsion from Doctus, he just left it to his men, without moving himself.

He never realized that that difference in aggressiveness was causing a lack of information.
