Dream Life

Episode 35: To Cardobec

October 2.

The village of Rasmore had the aftertaste of yesterday's harvest festival.

But we can't afford to immerse ourselves in that aftertaste. To prepare to head north in the early morning.

From here the village of Rasmore to the adventurer town of Periclitle is about one hundred and seventy kilometers. The destination, Cardobec, is further fifty kilometers north.

It's not a merchant's escort, and the horse is going to use what he borrowed in the guild, so he's going to go about thirty kilometers per day. We were going to enter the village of Bowden, north of Kilnarek, by the end of the day, and we were getting ready early in the morning.

There's supposed to be a lot of drop-offs, but we're only telling a very small number of people, other than family and ministers, that we're leaving. He also asks those people not to be dropped off, etc.

I chose today for the day of departure because many people leave the village because it means the next day of the festival. Many people also come from neighboring Kilnarek and Bogwood for alcohol, which is hard to stand out if disputed by them.

Besides, the day after the festival, few people worked early in the morning, and I thought it was even less obvious.

Some villagers saw me when I left the village, but it seemed like they mistook me for a secret assignment or something because I was sneaking eyes at a time like this.

In Kilnarek, the gatekeeper soldiers noticed and nearly made a scene, but otherwise they were able to travel without any problems.

Nothing happened on the road and we arrived safely in Cardobec on October 10th.

Cardobeck is an accomodation town on Fonce Street that connects Periclitle to Fonce, king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax. The construction is a standard imperial castle fortified city, surrounded by walls about ten metres high.

Fonce Street is the main street connecting the northern kingdoms of Lax and Sartooth with the commercial cities of Aurelia and Kaum, and is busy with many merchants. Although it is a major street, it is a dangerous place where many demons emerge, sandwiched between the eastern forest leading from the Aquila Mountains and the western forest leading from the Saeum Mountains.

As a result, adventurers' guilds, at the strong request of commercial guilds, try to focus on crusading demons, but young adventurers admiring the city always lacked adventurers because they would go to the big city of Periclitle.

The Adventurer Guild is aware of that, too, and has regularly dispatched adventurers from Periclitle to hit demonic crusades, which have done no great damage. Regular adventurers are avenged, there are as few as fifty resident adventurers, and replacement is intense because of the constant going to Periclitle.

After training Luna in the field for about three months, we're headed to Periclitle to find a party to be one of her friends.

I chose this town because of the intense replacement of adventurers and sometimes it's hard for us to stand out, but one of the reasons I chose not to have a branch of the Blacksmith Guild.

Not only are there few resident adventurers, but also the small size of the town vigilante, so they didn't have to build a branch because they were human blacksmiths who could handle it adequately and because there were many Dwarf blacksmiths in a place where they could go in two days.

Two days ago, I stopped by Periclitle to collect information. I tried to talk to Henry at the Norton Chamber of Commerce, but I couldn't see him because he was going to the village by mistake.

He was talking about having undertaken the task of transporting the Zach collection to Fonce, king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax.

My brother Rodrick will escort me to Periclitle, and from Periclitle they will be escorted by the strongest mercenary regiment in the Kingdom of Lax, the Marcut Mercenary Corps. Yesterday, I was mistaken for a mercenary regiment, but the Fonce branch of the Blacksmith Guild also got a little frightened when I did something out of the blue.

Sometimes, Henry couldn't talk to me directly, but he also hears information from the clerks of the Chamber of Commerce and the Adventurer's Guild.

So far, there has been no anomaly, which meant it was as usual.

Upon arrival in Cardobec, stop by the Adventurer Guild branch for a relocation process. Until now, by the way, I had registered with the Kilnarek branch in Lockhart territory. I haven't received any major requests, but I'm now up to the third level.

I was surprised to hear that the receptionist was in third grade during the relocation process.

"It's probably the first time the five of us have come here better in the third degree."

"Well, it's for her training, so I guess I'll only be around for a short time."

"Still helpful. But the Lockhart family is better... no, it's nothing..."

The Orb, who is also an ID card, has his real name on it, so if you're an Alliance employee, you'll soon know we're a Lockhart family associate. Because I don't want to stand out, he asked me not to give him Lockhart's name, but he seems to be famous around here, and he came out unexpectedly.

Until a few years ago, they heard rumors about us Zaksextet around here because we were adventurers at Doctus, but these days they don't even notice that we're dressed as normal because we're famous for being more alcoholic than adventurers.

My gear, by the way, but not black monochrome, common leather armor and bastard swords. The Liddies also make it a common one bought at Periclitle, not a delicacy from a famous Dwarf artisan.

I keep the Beatrice and Mel chainmails on, but I keep the rest of my gear in my storage magic (inventory), which I can change at any time.

That said, we stand out. I'm the only man and there are five beautiful women, including Luna. Because it's a complete harem party, I feel gaze again and again until I get here.

For that reason, I decided to set aside the inn from them and make it look like I was a solo.

This is about Luna, too. He wanted to be alone to break his feelings for me, but he thought it would be counterproductive if we spent more time together.

However, Liddy showed strong dissatisfaction with this decision.

"Then you don't have time to be together. We're a couple."

The Beatrices didn't say anything, but their expressions told the story that they agreed with Liddy.

I managed to convince him that it was a short period of time, but it's hard for me not to see him in grandeur.

Luna was also to register as an adventurer and act with the Liddies. I support them at a distance.

I decided to go into the woods the next day.

I will enter the Adventurer Alliance first and find out if there are any good requests.

In the meantime, the Liddies come in, but the moment they do, the men's gaze nails them. The bravest men approached to speak to the five.

A young man in his early twenties who feels a little challenged gives Mel a voice. I'm almost the same age if it's just the way I look, and I guess Mel seemed the most popular.

"Looks like you've never been around here before. We're gonna teach you a lot."

That's what I say and try to turn my hand around my shoulder, but Mel turns it around like a soot and walks toward the reception saying, "I'm in time," he says.

Beatrice went in between because he tried to get closer more persistently,

"I'm on time. Or are you saying you're a veteran better than me?

That's what I say. Show the orb.

"Gee! Sa, level three...... sorry!," he dispersed, "why is there a third level here..." he muttered.

The ancient strong (veteran) Beatrice was found to be the guardian, and the men were also distracted by the atmosphere or no one could speak any more.

In the meantime, Liddy approached me and whispered, "Did you make a good request?"

I point to the request form by saying "this is the guy" in a discreet way. What I found was a crusade of ten goblins, a Grade VII equivalent request.

When she glanced at the request, she said, "This looks good" and headed to the reception.

After that, I will also take the Gray Wolf Crusade, a Grade VII equivalent request, and go to the reception.

Looking to the side, Beatrice was explaining to Luna how to accept the request and what to pay attention to.

"... don't just take the request. First, look closely at the information it says. Especially if you don't see exactly when the information is coming, the demons may be gone..."

The other adventurers who saw how it went understand that Beatrice and Liddy are trying to teach the young three Iroja.

"I guess someone asked me to. If you're such a beauty, I want you to tell me too..."

I hear voices.

I walked away from the place inconspicuously.

Looks like Liddy and the others have finished the reception and are walking north. I take a little distance and walk in the same direction. I'm being asked to do the same so that I don't feel uncomfortable walking in the same direction.

Many merchants walk in the same direction as the city of Cardobec is penetrated by Fonce Street from north to south.

After leaving the North Gate, the Liddies entered the East Forest about a kilometer away. I'm going into the woods the same way, but I'm slightly off timing to see if anyone's tailing me.

This is not so much against the enemies of the gods as to make sure that no one tries to hang a little on the Liddies.

Exactly, Beatrice's presence is huge, no one is following him, and he rendezvous with five in the woods.

"That's a hassle," Liddy blurted, "but I actually felt the same way.

"Well, that's a review of what I was doing in the village. To find a flock of goblins…"

Beatrice's lecture began quickly. I will distance myself from the five men and become a scout to see if there is any danger. That's the role Dan's been playing.

The woods stretching east of Cardobec run from the Aquila Mountains and are home to many demons. Because they are crusaded regularly, there are few powerful demons, but they have a lot of goblins, wolves, etc., with a high number. In addition, even if they are being crusaded, third-degree equivalent demons can get lost, and when cautioned, parties can be wiped out altogether. Though this is not limited to this land.

I feel signs of demons with the same density as the forest east of the village. Especially with insect-based demons such as the killer bee (killer hornet) and giant spider Giant Spider, you can't be alarmed.

If it's near the village, I'll take it down as soon as I find it, but adventurers don't risk that.

Crusade will be gold according to materials and Demonic Crystal Stones, but you will not receive the Alliance's bounty even if you crusade in an unsolicited situation. So if you think about it as a profession, it doesn't suit you.

Apart from special places like Doctus, where crusade requests are constantly being made, only the demons requested are required to be defeated at pinpoint.

This is the idea that was used to establish the Adventurer Alliance. Originally, the Adventurer Guild was an organization created to protect streets and towns from demons. For this reason, it is required to hunt demons that pose a direct danger to people.

Conversely, you don't have to dare hunt demons who are behind the woods and don't show up on the streets. Hunting poorly can disrupt ecosystems and result in extra demons.

Many young adventurers do not understand this. Especially the righteous young man tries to hunt all the demons he encounters.

If you fight inadvertently, you may get hurt, and even if you defeat it successfully, it can damage your gear.

Fighting an unsolicited demon, other than a golden demon, means high-risk low returns, but surprisingly, there are many who become adventurers without being properly taught what they said.

In my case, I can make a mistake because I can magically defeat it, but I avoided it as much as I could because if I made a bad mistake, I would take away the job of the adventurer I was being asked to.

We found traces of the goblins, but we can't find them inside if they're moving from herd to herd.

It's noon and we eat.

Usually I serve hot dishes from my inventory, or I cook them magically easy, but I eat the lunches I bring, just like the average adventurer because of Luna's training.

Water is also usually magically served, but I drink what's in the water bottle. Contains warm (wet) water in the mouth to keep it from wanting to cool as usual.

"I feel like I haven't had warm water in a long time," he blurts, "it's always like this when we go to the woods for reconnaissance."

Luna at heart, but can't afford to join our story.

The purpose of this training is also to get used to the weight of the back sac (backpack), because I am more tired than usual.

She was carrying a backpack weighing more than ten kilograms because she was putting in spare food in preparation for the unforeseen, and in her case, she was carrying spare arrows.

I was worried, "Are you okay?," he said.

"Because you can't be an adventurer if you're snagging around in this much," he replies.

He then walked for about an hour and discovered a herd of goblins.

The number is higher than the ten that were in the information, fifteen. The distance is about fifty meters away, devouring animals like deer.

"What do we do, Luna?" Beatrice asks.

On this request, Liddy and Sharon are at the avant-garde with Beatrice and Mel, and I'm not supposed to get my hands on it.

"Er..." Luna worries.

"I can't believe the information is different all the time. Besides, it's worth it if the leader misjudges you. You're the only one who can believe it."

Luna worried about Beatrice's words, but "taking too much time would increase the danger," Liddy said, deciding to "fight".

"I will ambush you from a distance. Mr. Sharon will ask for my escort. Lydia, watch the opponent move and ambush him from another direction."

"It's not a good idea to spread the power," Liddy said, nodding Sharon as well.

On the other hand, yes, I'm a little confused, but I immediately said, "Okay,"

"I hide over there and shoot arrows. Mr Lydia and Mr Sharon hide in the grass and defeat the enemies coming towards me…"

Luna shoots an arrow from the shadow of the tree and proposes an operation to disrupt the goblin.

"Okay," Liddy and the others admitted, proceeding quietly to make no noise and hiding in the grass at a distance of about thirty meters. Luna traveled just as cautiously, sending a hand sign to both of them before launching the attack.

Beautiful work on the bow. I felt that the air of Rin dominated the area so much that I didn't think it was in the woods.

I heard the sound of cutting the wind of an arrow feather called Shh.

At the next moment, he pierces the back of one goblin and rolls around with a scream of deafness.

Goblins don't know where the arrows have flown from, they stand up simultaneously and look around.

In the meantime, the next arrow was released.

Now it hits Goblin's chest, who was standing up and waving a stick.

I noticed Luna's presence in that attack.

"Gah! Gah! pointing to Luna in the" sense, and going towards the same.

More arrows are fired and hit by two goblins.

"Whatever the power, you're good," Beatrice admires.

The actual battle is experienced in the woods near the village of Rasmore. I guess that's why I don't have to panic about the goblins rushing by.

"Well, I guess you think the goblin degree isn't the enemy because you were with us"

It was a goblin running into the Liddy's, but I'm surprised the two of them have suddenly stood up and attacked me, stopping. In the meantime, two fall with Luna's arrows.

Later, Liddy at swordsmanship level 35 and Sharon at level 30 defeat him at risk.

"Well done," Beatrice praises Luna, where she defeated all the goblins.

"This time it's passed. All you have to do is retrieve the Demon Crystal and pull it up as soon as you can."

Luna said, "Yes!," he answered brightly, heading towards the recovery of the Demonic Crystal Stone.
