Dream Life

Episode XV: The Deodard Chamber of Commerce

September 26th.

The day after we arrive at Aurelia, today we plan to gather information in the commercial district in order to find a ship to cross to the island of Gilsall.

Beatrice and Sharon, as well as Professor Kitty Erbain, collect information in the commercial district. Me, Liddy and Mel put their faces on the blacksmith's guild and then use that handout to gather information.

Beatrice's squad, but if they fall apart, Sharon and Mr. Kitley could get into trouble, so the three of us act together. At that time, the Lockhart family was not named as much as possible, but was positioned as an escort and assistant to Mr. Kitley's investigation.

This is to keep the information that I'm going to Jilsol from spreading any further than I need to. I am wary that when information flows to the previously troubled Holy King Luke, it is more likely to cause unnecessary trouble.

Beatrice and I break up at the inn and head to the branch of the Blacksmith Guild in the North District. This is a trip in light attire, which means I can't carry the barrel as usual. However, I intend to bring in the 20-litre tank of the 12-year-old in the storage magic (inventory).

He arrived at the branch and tried to speak to the staff, but for some reason Zamuel Obitz, the branch manager, and other key Dwarf blacksmiths were waiting. I usually notice with the smell of booze, but only this time, I shouldn't have smelled booze because I was taking out the tank just before I got to the branch.

As usual, I get a welcome that feels rough with a bash and a slap on the back while shaking hands.

"I thought it was time to come."

Zamuel said, "I thought you didn't smell liquor.," he said.

"I certainly don't smell it, but I felt signs of good liquor approaching. I figured you'd be the one to win a good drink."

"Bye! That's right!" the Dwarves agree with laughter.

When this happens, I can only be convinced that it is Dwarf's race-specific special abilities.

"You've come a long way. It's not a banquet today," Zamuel said with a lavish laugh before heading to the branch manager's office.

When I walked into the room, I said, "Is there a reason I have to come here?" I've asked him why with a serious look.

He seemed suspicious because he had met at the Dwarf Festival at the beginning of July and had not talked at all about coming to Aurelia at that time.

"I don't really want to pee, but I'm going to Gilsall Island. The purpose is to help Professor Kittley Erbain research…"

Briefly describe the destination and purpose.

"There seems to be something, but we don't listen, and we don't talk to anyone who asks. So, you need to talk to me, huh?

That's right, I'm just a branch manager in the commercial city of Aurelia, and he guessed why I visited without asking for more information.

"I want to know about shippers. From here on out, we'll be going through Lukes. I want to know where I can trust you. Of course, you don't have to have any information. It's not like you can't guess."

"Shipper... can you trust that too... I only know one place"

"Where is that?

"At the Deodard Chamber of Commerce. I am familiar with my predecessors because I had dealings in the delivery of materials, but I am a merchant who cares more about credit than anything else. Regardless, I can trust the current Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce."

I'm surprised that the name of the Deoddard Chamber of Commerce came up here as well, but the Aurelia merchants are famous for their lack of loopholes, so I guess that means there are few places to trust them.

"That's the same result I looked into. With that said, what about the vendor the Gerhardts used when they escaped Lukes? You risked your life to help us escape, didn't you?

Gerhard answers my question.

"Forbes is no good. That was just a hand to the people to avenge the Holy King's Palace..."

The Gerhardts have escaped from the Holy Capital of the Holy Kingdom, Paxlumen, during the Lockhart family heresy certification case. At that time, a merchant named Forbes lent him a hand, but he was angry that the Holy King had stepped down the price, and that he could not be trusted just for doing so in return for his interest.

"Right. If so, do we have to go to the Deodard Chamber of Commerce?"

"The second generation of Verno thinks best of the Chamber of Commerce. I'll write you a letter of introduction just in case, but be prepared to say no if you're gonna be in trouble."

According to information from Zamuel, the second-generation chamber of commerce president, Verno Deodard, is a merchant in his early fifties, further growing the chamber built by the first generation with steadfast arms. However, since we don't have a hand in frantic commerce that involves risk, it can be sufficient to say no to this one, depending on how we take the story.

I also asked for information about Aurelia and Luke's Holy King, but there was no information that could lead to trouble, and I promised to visit him again in the evening, after the Blacksmith Guild. To indulge in the information gathered by the Beatrice and visit the Deodard Chamber of Commerce in the afternoon.

Around noon, the Beatrices returned as they waited at the inn.

"You don't have any good information. It feels like we're going anywhere," Beatrice said, clapping her shoulders.

"Periples and Aurelia seem to be at half the war. Some were injured by ships that came into port. When I heard the story, the pirates attacked me and told me that I sank the other way around. About three days ago, they hanged a pirate from Periplus..."

Sharon added an explanation as she looked at the note.

"Fighting on a ship... sounds more and more troublesome"

Mr. Kitley showed his tired face to my whining,

"It would be more serious to go to Jilsol very little."

"We were talking about five or six ships on the moon?," he said.

"Yeah, but most of it goes through the Empire City. Besides, if we can make a good purchase in Imperial City, we won't be heading to Jill Saul."

Gilsol's main industry is the export of glass products. There are other ingredients that are specialty to the South Island, but because the unit price is low, it is not an exaggeration to say that we will go for the purchase of glass products.

In addition, since Gilsol itself is not a rich country, it does not sell high unit prices and carries cereals predominantly.

Worse still, Gilsall's glass industry is pushed by imperial products, and exports seem to be falling year after year.

The reason for this is that the suppliers in Teito and Ezarrington imitated the glasses I made. The division of labor, whereby earth-attributed magicians finish coarsely crafted objects, has dramatically increased the quality of Imperial glass products.

"Most direct flights seem to charter. Looks like the Deoddard Chamber of Commerce you checked has a deal with Jilsol..."

The Deodard Chamber of Commerce has many branches in the United Kingdom of Lax Sartous in the north. Since the United Kingdom imposes high tariffs on imperial products during the ceasefire, it seems that Gilsall glass products are still worth it as a commodity.

"So you're saying that the Deodard Chamber of Commerce is the only candidate... I asked Zamuel to write me a reference, and that sounds useful"

Further information may be gathered, but it is difficult to think of any candidate other than the Deodard Chamber of Commerce from the previous information.

For that reason, Mr. Kitley and I and Sharon decided to visit the Deodard Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. Sometimes I took the Liddies off because they were too numerous, but I wanted them to look into something else.

After lunch, we head to the headquarters of the Deodard Chamber of Commerce, about two hundred meters away.

The greater commercial centre of the largest commercial city in the world meant that there were many headquarters of famous companies that we also saw in Triumph of the Empire. In the original world, I would have just said Manhattan, New York.

Though the walking people are not as gorgeous as nobles, they are dressed in clothes that I think are tailored even when I look at them as amateurs, and we were floating travelers. For once the inventory contains something close to a courtesy, but as an imperial nobleman, I believe that wearing it here would be extra vigilant, making it the usual outfit. I have removed the most protective equipment and just have a sword just in case.

The Deodard Chamber of Commerce was quickly found. Although it is a large stone building on four floors, it only says “Deodard Chamber of Commerce" on a sign with a modest feel, but it was somewhat present.

Mr. Kitley leads the way into the building. Is the ground floor reception or was it busy with many people?

"Can I help you with this Chamber of Commerce?," said a young male employee in his mid-twenties.

Ms Kitley answers on behalf of

"I'm looking for a ship to Jilsol, but they told me there would be one here."

"Is it Jill Sole?" I was surprised, "Ms. Kitley explained, as she was a Doctus researcher and wanted to head off to investigate, etc.

"... I see. Were you a professor at the Tilia School of Magic," but quickly clouds his expression.

"Sure, I've heard there are old ruins on that island, but direct flights aren't quite out. We are out relatively often via Teito Primus, so why not use it?"

"I looked it up in Doctus, and I heard that sometimes you don't go from Primus to Jilsor. Besides, it's hard to get a ship from the Empire to Gilsor... if possible, a ship that goes straight, but not at all?

There came a magnificent man.

"What's wrong? I always say it's not a good idea to stand up to a customer."

The man, at his age, was a little above his father, and had the impression that he was tall and had short, gray-haired hair mixed with gray eyes that seemed honest.

When the employee lowered his head, "I'm sorry," he said, "Please come this way" and tried to guide him to a table that was in a meeting space.

"Get ready for the reception room. The room is the best," the man said, then turned to us and said, "I'm sorry. This way, please," he leads.

It's the same for his age, but makes him feel like he's an executive of the Chamber of Commerce from its Piercing Loch. Such a person was uncomfortable dealing with "seemingly" customers like us.

I will be led to the reception room upstairs.

It is well stocked with good conditioning and I intuit that it is a room for special guests.

Sitting on a shiny leather sofa, the first young employee to respond showed up with tea. The tea was not herbal as it would be drunk in the northern part of the empire, but a real tea made with tea leaves that could only be made in the southern part of the empire. Now is the time to be drunk in the Lockhart family, but it is a luxury that ordinary people will never taste in their lifetime.

"Excuse me for earlier. My name is Verno Deodard. Let us know what you need to know."

Surprisingly, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce himself was trying to serve customers.

■ ■ ■

It was a coincidence that I, Verno Deodard, found them.

The combination of elf women, young human men and women, is heterogeneous to visit the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce in Aurelia, but more than that, the appearance of the three caught my eye.

The elves were racially beautifully shaped, and I was also concerned about the fact that they were more beautifully shaped human men and women than I could beat them, but what bothered me more than that was that there were too many strange things to say about travelers.

I know the elf woman, who is obviously older, is responding, but then the two young people have doubts about what they're for.

A young man in a pitch-black outfit, but with a sword, but too young for an escort. Being a butler is not a servant move. Also, women are more skilful and don't look like escorts, but when it comes to maids, I don't see any signs of taking care of elf women.

If they were elves, there was also a line called relatives, but different races. I had no idea what the relationship was, and that caught my interest.

As we approached, we found that the sword held by a young man was a famous sword forged by a famous Dwarf worker. It also used the latest technology and would have been presented at an event to be the Dwarf Festival in the village of Rasmore. That means he has the arm he deserves to have that sword.

I'm not a blacksmith or a samurai because I'm familiar with swords because I interact with the Dwarves. It serves beer and wine to the Dwarves of the Aurelia branch of the Blacksmith Guild, and exports the weapons they make to the Kingdom of Sartooth.

For that reason, I had been allowed to be cordial with my branch manager, Lord Zamuel, and I had heard about the Dwarf Festival. In doing so, I was shown the latest magic sword of the tri-attribute grant, so I could see and notice its distinctive sheath.

I was just talking to a young employee because he was confused. Then, to hear more, I headed to the reception room.

What we have is a room to welcome the finest customers, but he seemed to realize the value of the room by looking at its conditioning. When we provide tea made from the finest imperial tea leaves, we also understand its flavour.

Now I realize who this person is.

But I don't know why I came here to Aurelia. At first I was just going to say hello and leave it to my employees, but rethink that I need to know what this important person is trying to do.

And I had an intuition that his appearance would lead to a new big business.

When I named him, he was very surprised.

I didn't aim, but I succeeded in taking the lead from him, who is said to be a political genius.
