Chapter 350 - 242: News of the Round Table Knights
On the 400th floor of the Alliance Mansion, Secretary Qiao carefully explained what United Pharmaceutical needed to do next.
Winning first place at the summit wasn’t easy. The process was arduous, and now that they had won, they needed to quickly live up to the title.
Secretary Qiao explained, "Theoretically, the S-Class Pharmacy Literature shouldn’t have been given to United Pharmaceutical. The Asian Administrative Region needs an enterprise capable of producing S-Class Potions."
"Nanyun Potion is ultimately a member of the Eastern Alliance, not under the jurisdiction of the Big Business Alliance."
"The health of the industrial structure and the production of top-tier Potions both affect the interests of the entire administrative region."
"But your actions have proven that United Pharmaceutical is more suited for this responsibility than the other four major corporations. Go back and get to work. The Alliance needs S-Class Potion production capacity restored."
"The Alliance has an annual procurement quota for S-Class Potions, and it must be met."
Secretary Qiao continued to brief Lin Qi and Liu Xuan on many other matters.
The briefing lasted for nearly an hour, not ending until it was almost midnight.
He saw the two of them to the elevators of the Alliance Mansion.
"Don’t worry, Secretary Qiao. United Pharmaceutical will dispatch its most professional team to liaise on the upcoming matters."
Liu Xuan was extremely adept at handling corporate affairs, a clear sign she had been groomed for it since childhood.
Secretary Qiao nodded upon hearing Liu Xuan’s words.
He picked up on something else in her response.
Reading between the lines, it seemed United Pharmaceutical was positioning itself to break away from Liu’s Heavy Industries. Although the two were currently close, when it came to core corporate strategy, Liu Xuan had no intention of relying on them.
"Well, that’s interesting."
After seeing Lin Qi and Liu Xuan into the elevator, Secretary Qiao muttered to himself.
He then went to the room where Qiao Xi was resting to report his findings.
Qiao Xi nodded, not saying much.
But deep down, he believed this was most likely related to the Wizard.
’It seems the Wizard’s relationship with the Liu Clan isn’t close. His true gambit is just United Pharmaceutical.’
’Pharmacy? It seems the Wizard has been focusing a great deal of his energy on it lately.’
’A new type of Potion? Is he planning to release it publicly through United Pharmaceutical? Does he not intend to use his own power within the Eastern Alliance?’
The intelligence on the "Wizard" was too fragmented.
Even Qiao Xi found it difficult to piece it all together systematically.
To guess the Wizard’s objective, Qiao Xi could often only make deductions based on who stood to profit from the events he was involved in.
For now, Qiao Xi believed the core of the Wizard’s actions revolved around "Pharmacy."
...
Lin Qi and Liu Xuan returned to their suite together.
This was the first time Liu Xuan had set foot in the suite booked under United Pharmaceutical’s name since her arrival in Alliance City.
"The summit is more or less over, but there’s a lot of follow-up to handle. We’ll need to stay in Alliance City for at least three more days before we can head back to Red Fruit City."
Liu Xuan looked at Lin Qi, her gaze more direct than it had been back in Red Fruit City.
Lin Qi nodded. "Perfect. I can get a few days of rest. The company doesn’t give enough days off."
Liu Xuan didn’t think Lin Qi was implying anything by this.
Instead, she asked, "Will you... actually rest?"
Hearing her question, Lin Qi’s mouth opened slightly, but no words came out.
’Rest?’
’I really don’t have time to rest.’
’Although I haven’t heard from Guang Ling yet, I estimate the final operation will probably happen in the next few days.’
’In Alliance City, I know of four factions with ties to the European Administrative Region.’
’Si Pharmaceutical and Ninghang Technology—two major corporations.’
’Aishwarya and Jin Yuanxi—two permanent directors.’
’The Si Clan has fallen, Jin Yuanxi has cut ties, and while Aishwarya hasn’t openly turned on us, the European Big Business Alliance’s channels must have alerted her that something is wrong.’
’Ninghang Technology must sense the situation spiraling out of control.’
’Add to that the news of Baili Xueyuan’s arrival in Alliance City.’
’And the news that Master Ma, the one who robbed the Modi Group, is also here.’
’With pressure mounting from all sides, Ninghang Technology is bound to make a move.’
’Three days... that sounds about right by my estimate.’
’But can I tell Liu Xuan any of this?’
He needed to keep his secrets, both his Extraordinary Profession as a Wizard and his identity as a member of a Highest-Level Mercenary Corps.
He might be willing to pay a certain price to help Liu Xuan.
But Lin Qi wouldn’t cross certain lines of principle.
It was a principle of survival in the Cyber World.
Lin Qi adjusted his expression and said, "Of course I’m going to get some proper rest."
Seeing his reaction, the purple light in Liu Xuan’s left eye suddenly flared a little brighter.
Then she said to Lin Qi, "The company’s days off are definitely too few. You worked hard for the summit. Get some proper rest for the next couple of days."
She paused before adding, "Alliance City most likely won’t be safe for a while. You need to be careful."
Liu Xuan was serious about that last part.
Although the summit was over, the matter involved four major corporations. The reshuffling of the entire Asian Administrative Region’s pharmaceutical industry was just beginning.
It was just like what had happened to her in the summit simulation earlier that day.
The contests between major corporations weren’t limited to business tactics. Assassinations, and even war, were always possibilities.
The Eastern Alliance restrained open corporate warfare, and while actions like assassination had become less frequent in recent years, that was only because of the Successor Bill.
