Chapter 401 - 267: Making an S-Class Potion in the Apocalypse (2)
The surgery that followed wasn’t complicated.
This A-Class Suppressor was a spinal implant, about the size of three vertebrae.
Lin Qi’s task was to expose the spine, then use the knowledge he’d learned at the Prosthetic Clinic to implant the Suppressor, attach it to the vertebrae, and complete the neural connections.
The entire surgical procedure took only about an hour.
After finishing the bulk of the work, Lin Qi looked at the medical student grunts who were watching and said, "The implantation is complete. I’ll leave the rest of the suturing to you."
With the grunts there to assist, Lin Qi got to indulge his fantasy of being a chief surgeon.
Leaving the infirmary, Lin Qi was in a good mood, perhaps because he had done something meaningful, a rare occurrence in the Doomsday World.
Helping Wang Qiang offered very limited benefits to the Mo University Camp, but Lin Qi was willing to do it anyway.
Perhaps it was because in the Cyber World, Lin Qi hadn’t encountered someone like Wang Qiang in a very long time.
Lin Qi walked down the corridor to the elevators and took one down to the first floor.
He then headed to the building in Mo University Camp used for producing Extraordinary Materials.
Currently, the variety of Extraordinary Materials produced at Mo University Camp wasn’t extensive.
There were fewer than twenty types.
And almost all of them came from Zombie corpses.
The others were materials made using the Funnel Infusion Method. Their numbers were extremely few; even including the Blood Moon Descent Objects, you could count them all on one hand.
’These materials are enough to produce the Doomsday World version of A-Class Potions, but S-Class will be very difficult.’
’Crafting an S-Class Potion requires at least one hundred and fifty types of Extraordinary Materials, and that’s under ideal circumstances. If my luck is bad, it could even take two or three hundred types.’
Lin Qi began to consider the matter of producing Potions in the Doomsday World.
The over-spec Potions from the Doomsday World were another specialty product, aside from Extraordinary Items, and were extremely valuable in the Cyber World.
The fact that Lin Qi’s own physical constitution had reached Tier Two was largely thanks to the Doomsday World’s Potions.
’It’s time to produce some A-Class over-spec Potions and bring them back to the Cyber World.’
’In a way, A-Class over-spec Potions can even serve as a cheaper alternative to S-Class Potions. They’re quite valuable and could ease my financial pressure.’
’On top of that, I need A-Class over-spec Potions to help me maintain my mysterious image within the Highest-Level Mercenary Corps.’
’As for hiding it from Guang Ling? Forget it. Guang Ling has long known I have secrets. But as long as the value I create for the Mercenary Corps is high enough, Guang Ling won’t become my enemy.’
’Besides, a person like Guang Ling, gathering a group like the Highest-Level Mercenary Corps, most likely has some extraordinary scheme of their own.’
Lin Qi couldn’t see through Guang Ling’s background, but he could roughly guess their intentions.
Guang Ling definitely didn’t establish the Mercenary Corps just to make a name for themself.
Guang Ling must be planning to use the Mercenary Corps to accomplish something.
Even though the Mercenary Corps had been running missions for so long, and it seemed like everyone was getting what they wanted and was satisfied with the rewards, perhaps Guang Ling had already obtained some of the results they were after.
After all, every single one of the Mercenary Corps’s missions was personally selected by Guang Ling.
Right now, the Highest-Level Mercenary Corps had King Arthur and Master Ma, two publicly known Tier Four members; the Capitalist, who most likely also possessed Tier Four strength and held extremely high authority; Jingang, who was almost destined to have X-Class potential; and himself and Guang Ling, two scheming figures.
If a force like this were to be rated in the Mercenary Realm, calling it T2 would be an understatement.
It would absolutely be considered a Tier One Mercenary Corps.
The things one could accomplish with control of a Tier One Mercenary Corps were far greater than one could imagine.
Lin Qi took a good amount of Extraordinary Materials and then first went to see Wei Yue.
"I need to produce a wider variety of Extraordinary Materials," Lin Qi stated his requirement to Wei Yue.
Wei Yue had extensive knowledge of the Extraordinary Domain and was responsible for creating Blood Moon Descent Objects and transforming Extraordinary Materials for Lin Qi.
With her experience, she understood Lin Qi’s needs and knew what to do.
Producing Extraordinary Materials might be a secret to others, but for the first-generation Moon Worshipers, nearly all of them could figure out the method on their own.
"More? How many types do you need?"
Wei Yue grasped the key point of Lin Qi’s request.
It wasn’t about sheer quantity, but variety.
Lin Qi gave her the target, saying, "At least one hundred and fifty types. No, two hundred. In fact, the more, the better."
Hearing that number, even though Wei Yue was somewhat prepared, she couldn’t help but rub her head.
Wei Yue said, "That will take time. And more preparation vats."
Given the various materials and the number of Extraordinary Items currently held by the Mo University Camp, they actually had enough to meet Lin Qi’s demand.
A single Extraordinary Item, through different processes, could be used to create a large number of Extraordinary Materials with similar characteristics but different essential properties.
Theoretically, the ratio could be over one to fifty.
From this perspective, Lin Qi’s request wasn’t too difficult.
"Based on past experience, how long does it take to produce a batch of Extraordinary Materials?" Lin Qi asked.
In this area, Wang Ziru was responsible for overall coordination, while Wei Yue was the team leader for frontline operations.
Wei Yue quickly replied, "Three days at the fastest, seven at the slowest. Creating Blood Moon Descent Objects will take longer."
The production cycle for Extraordinary Materials in the Doomsday World was much shorter than in the Cyber World, a result of the difference in Spiritual Particle concentration.
This matched Lin Qi’s expectations and was also the reason he had made this request of Wei Yue.
It wasn’t difficult; on the contrary, it was quite simple.
The Doomsday World’s high concentration of Spiritual Particles was naturally suited for producing Extraordinary Materials.
The reason the Cyber World had such a rich variety of Extraordinary Materials was the result of years of effort by the major corporations, relying on their most prized Extraordinary Items for mass production.
The Doomsday World simply lacked that accumulated time.
With the theory already mature, if Lin Qi was willing, the developmental potential of Pharmacy in the Doomsday World might even allow it to leapfrog and surpass the Cyber World.
"Produce them as quickly as possible. I want to see the first batch of Extraordinary Materials in three days."
A-Class over-spec Potions were clearly not Lin Qi’s ultimate goal.
What Lin Qi pursued was the S-Class Potion.
Lin Qi wanted to be the first to create an S-Class Potion in the Doomsday World.
This way, Lin Qi would have an unregulated window of opportunity.
Even if an S-Class Potion were to appear on the market, no one would trace it back to Lin Qi.
Everyone knew that United Pharmaceutical had just acquired the S-Class Pharmacy Literature.
Following conventional logic, who would believe that a researcher who had just gained access to the S-Class Pharmacy Literature could develop the ability to produce an S-Class Potion in just three days?
And not just an ordinary S-Class Potion, but the Doomsday World’s S-Class over-spec Potion!
Its value far surpassed that of an ordinary S-Class Potion!
Who would ever imagine that such an S-Class Potion was created by Lin Qi?
Even if the Big Business Alliance, or even the Eastern Alliance, investigated its origins with all their resources, they would never trace it back to Lin Qi.
The reason was that in the Cyber World, the production of all Extraordinary Materials was recorded.
Their use was recorded as well.
This was especially true for S-Class Potions, which required the use of too many different types of Extraordinary Materials.
Once production began, it would inevitably leave a trail in resource allocation.
But as it happened, Lin Qi had absolutely no intention of using any of United Pharmaceutical’s resources in the near future!
No ability, no resources, and not even enough time.
Even Guang Ling would be left wondering just how Lin Qi had managed to whip up an S-Class Potion.
After receiving Lin Qi’s instructions, Wei Yue just nodded silently and said, "I’ll do my best."
Having delegated the tasks, Lin Qi turned and left, taking the materials back to the 6th floor of the Club Activity Building.
He entered the Pharmacy Laboratory and began preparing the A-Class Potion.
’Calculating the time... it should be enough.’
...
At 4:40 AM on March 27, 2089, Lin Qi returned to the Cyber World.
This time, in the empty compartment in Lin Qi’s left arm, there was not only the wristband used for communicating with King Arthur, but also an A-Class over-spec Potion.
