Chapter 568 - 349: Earning Another 672 Million, Giving the Simpleton 30%
Unlike the other families that had served Nanyun Potion for generations, the Lin Family was no longer content with a mere five.
The Xu Family’s fifth-generation member, Xu Qinghe, was only in her early twenties.
But among the Lin Family’s fifth generation, many were in their forties and fifties. Anyone in their thirties was considered young.
The oldest of the sixth generation was almost thirty.
With the exception of Doctor Lin, a special case from the third generation, most of Lin Changshou’s other descendants had followed his habit of having children early and often. This had created the enormous Lin Family.
Led by Lin Qinghong, Lin Qi met one Lin Family "junior" after another. Amidst a chorus of "Uncle," he could occasionally even hear a "Grand-uncle," making Lin Qi’s head spin.
Noticing Lin Qi’s wandering gaze, Xu Qinghe leaned in close.
"You’ll get used to it," she said. "The Lin Family certainly has a lot of juniors. The first time a member of the Lin Family called me ’Cousin-aunt,’ I reacted pretty much the same way you are."
Lin Qi gave a slightly unnatural nod.
In truth, he was very uncomfortable with how they addressed him. After all, judging by the old man’s attitude toward Lin Changshou, he clearly had no intention of "returning to the clan."
The only reason Lin Qi was playing along was his consideration for the upcoming sub-conference, as well as a courtesy to the Eastern Alliance.
After greeting the members of the Lin Family, Lin Qi followed Xu Zhengming to meet the remaining S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers.
Through Xu Zhengming’s introductions, Lin Qi finally gained a basic understanding of Nanyun Potion’s structure.
Nanyun Potion almost never hired Pharmaceutical Researchers externally. The vast majority of positions were passed down through family lines.
Four families were the pillars behind the success of Nanyun Potion, a top-tier corporation.
They were the Lin, Li, Xu, and Nan Families.
Lin Qi had, in fact, heard of these four surnames long ago.
The source wasn’t news or other intelligence, but the S-Class Pharmacy Literature he had once read.
Most of the literature’s authors came from these four families, with a small portion of the content originating from other administrative regions.
’I never would’ve thought that the easter egg I found in the literature described the second-generation pharmacy founders of these four families.’
’Lin Changshou, Xu Chun, Li Miaomiao, and the author of that article, Nan Tianming.’
’From the looks of it, the Lin Family must be a Wizard Clan. My Talent, Lin Xin’s Talent, and the easter egg’s description of Lin Changshou all support this.’
’The Xu Family, according to the literature, should be a Shaman Professional Clan, but for some reason, Xu Qinghe possesses the X-ray Vision of a Native Extraordinary.’
’Could it be that a Xu Family ancestor married a descendant of the Li Miaomiao from the literature? She was an X-ray Vision Ability User.’
’As for the Nan Family, I can’t be sure. They weren’t described in the easter egg. They’re also the family that actually controls Nanyun Potion; despite their small numbers, they hold all the leadership positions.’
(PS: The literature easter egg can be found in Chapter 265.)

Lin Qi shook hands with each of the S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers. This was a traditional custom in the Eastern Alliance, and it was also practiced in the Southeast Asia Cyber Cities like Red Fruit City.
After the introductions, Lin Qi sat down at the circular conference table with Xu Zhengming and Xu Qinghe.
Everyone qualified to sit at the table was an S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher. All told, there were fewer than forty of them.
He had barely sat down when Lin Qi saw Lin Qinghong approach Xu Zhengming. "Uncle Xu," Lin Qinghong said, "you’ve been here a while. Isn’t it about time you or Little Sister Qinghe offered some guidance to the younger generation? In Nanyun Potion today, aside from my family’s patriarch, the most capable Pharmaceutical Researchers are from your Xu Family."
Guiding the younger generation was the very reason everyone had gathered at the Circular Experimental Field today.
The Alliance hoped that a new S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher would emerge from this group of young people before the sub-conference officially began.
As long as the conference hadn’t started, the Alliance had the means to secure a spot for them in the sub-conference.
Back in Red Fruit City, if Lin Qi hadn’t managed to obtain his S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher certification on time, he might have been brought here as well.
If that had been the case, however, Lin Qi wouldn’t be sitting at the circular conference table. Instead, he would be in the center of the Circular Experimental Field, toiling away tirelessly with the other "young people" like a beast of burden.
Seeing Lin Qinghong, Xu Zhengming smiled and said, "Qinghong, you fail to recognize true greatness. You’re ignoring the gold mine you have right here in your Uncle Lin and are instead fixated on me and my Qinghe."
"When it comes to preparing S-Class Potions, forget about me or Qinghe. I’m afraid that even if my own patriarch were here, he might not be a match for young Lin Qi."
Xu Zhengming had no intention of getting up, instead yielding the stage to Lin Qi.
Guidance conferences like this one had been held at Nanyun Potion many times before, but no one from the younger generation had ever achieved a sudden breakthrough.
Based on past experience in cultivating S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers, there were only two possible reasons for this.
Either they hadn’t put in enough effort and weren’t proficient enough in the properties of Extraordinary Materials and their formulaic ratios.
Or, they simply weren’t old enough, and their Talent wasn’t yet developed enough to trigger a "flash of inspiration."
According to literature authored by the Nan Family, the "inspiration" Talent of an S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher followed a rising and falling curve.
With age, the "inspiration" Talent gradually strengthens, reaching its peak between thirty and forty. It then stays at that level until around age sixty, after which it rapidly declines.
Oftentimes, pure effort was not enough to compensate for a lack of Talent, and this was the core reason why S-Class Pharmaceutical Researchers were so rare.
