Chapter 388 - 261: Repayment and a New Deal

Liu Xinglu had no idea that Lin Qi had been able to message Liu Xuan, and it was all thanks to the tough front he had put on earlier.

Had Liu Xinglu bothered to investigate, he would have found that the timestamps on both the server and the algorithm’s edit log matched Lin Qi’s story perfectly.

He would have been even more surprised to learn that Lin Qi had asked Guang Ling to retroactively create all this evidence.

Who could have guessed that behind Lin Qi stood a cyber hacker whose power far exceeded S-Class?

Guang Ling was the kind of person who gave even the Cyber Network Company a massive headache.

Though Guang Ling had kept a lower profile since being targeted by the Cyber Network Company, he never hesitated when it was time to act, demonstrating his powerful control over the cyber network.

Liu Xuan glanced at Lin Qi and Liu Xinglu with surprise. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise.

"Rest assured. As long as you are in Red Fruit City, I will personally keep watch. I won’t give those short-sighted parasites another chance to make a move."

"Xiaoxuan wants to build United Pharmaceutical into a major corporation, and she’ll need your help for that."

Liu Xinglu’s attitude toward Lin Qi had completely changed.

His Ability and cunning were both on point; he could be Liu Xuan’s greatest asset.

Besides, considering Liu Xuan’s past psychological issues, there was no reason for Liu Xinglu to oppose their relationship any longer.

Lin Qi nodded. He needed to spend the next while researching the S-Class Pharmacy Literature, which meant he would be laying low at the company for some time. His life was about to enter a period of stability.

Sensing the change in Liu Xinglu, Lin Qi took the opportunity to chat with him.

"I actually have some preliminary ideas about S-Class Pharmacy, but I’ll need to corroborate them with the literature."

"Oh?"

"Back at the summit..."

Lin Qi briefly explained his thoughts.

This was both an amicable conversation with Liu Xinglu and a way to demonstrate his own potential and value.

Living in the Cyber World, Lin Qi knew he couldn’t stay in the shadows forever.

When dealing with the corporation, demonstrating his value was the best form of self-preservation.

After their conversation, Liu Xinglu’s estimation of Lin Qi grew even higher.

A dual genius in Prosthetic Engineering and Pharmacy.

He was also cunning, and he knew how to protect himself.

He was equipped with a full A-Class Prosthetic Body and had sufficient tolerance for it.

The only shame was that Lin Qi lacked Extraordinary Power; otherwise, he would be a complete all-rounder.

This was Liu Xinglu’s assessment of Lin Qi.

Holding this view, Liu Xinglu immediately accessed Red Fruit City’s administrative network, setting up multiple algorithms for the specific purpose of protecting Lin Qi.

...

The flying vehicle landed in front of 8 Fortress Road.

Lin Qi and Liu Xuan disembarked. Lin Qi’s gaze fell upon the parking bay.

His own antique vehicle was sitting there quietly, and surprisingly, Liu Xuan’s vehicle had also already returned to its bay.

’So this is a high-end vehicle!’

’You really do get what you pay for.’

It was so much faster than the HGPD’s vehicle.

He felt a pang of envy but quickly averted his gaze.

The thing was too expensive; there was no need to spend Credit Points on something like that.

Lin Qi looked at Liu Xuan. "I’ll head back first, then?"

Their rooms were just a few walls apart, so this was Lin Qi’s tentative way of asking if she needed anything else.

Liu Xuan nodded. "I need to get back to my room, too. I have to join a company board meeting remotely. Certain people must pay the price for their foolish decisions."

The purple glow in Liu Xuan’s left eye had faded considerably; the Suppressor’s power was now below ten percent.

But her tone made it clear that her anger was far from spent.

Lin Qi didn’t say anything more. Even though he was the victim, this was ultimately an internal matter for the Liu Clan.

His public identity made it inappropriate for him to get involved.

He returned to his room.

Lin Qi suddenly remembered something. He accessed his Intelligent Brain, composed an email, and sent a message to his father: "I’m safe."

The old man replied quickly. "It’s over already? Did you have something up your sleeve, kid?"

As he sent the message, a communication request from his father popped up.

The two connected over a cyber network video call.

"Are you really okay?"

Lin Qi gave a weary smile. "I’m fine. I’m already back at my place. You don’t need to email Lin Xin."

Only then did the old man relax his suspicion. He had been worried a cyber hacker was impersonating Lin Qi.

But the mention of Lin Xin put Doctor Lin at ease.

Given Lin Xin’s status, her security clearance was high enough that even the Liu Clan would have no way of knowing that the Lin family’s greatest trump card was, ironically, its most unreliable member.

There wasn’t much else to say to his father, so after confirming his safety, Lin Qi ended the call.

Lin Qi checked the time. It was still a while before midnight.

Being taken away by the HGPD had been intense, but the whole affair was resolved in just over twenty minutes.

Lin Qi washed up first, then lay down on his bed.

There were still a few things Lin Qi had to do.

First, he accessed the cyber network, logged onto the Cyber Network Company’s website, and navigated to the cloud services section.

He logged into the cloud server that Guang Ling had registered in his name.

Lin Qi first disabled the trigger-based algorithm to avoid accidentally sending Liu Xuan another email.

And then...

He turned off auto-renew!

Lin Qi would never forget something like this!

He had no desire to receive a debit notification from the Cyber Network Company in seven days, automatically deducting ten thousand Credit Points to renew the cloud server subscription.

Only after checking all the service agreements signed in his name on his Intelligent Brain did Lin Qi finally log out of the Cyber Network Company website with peace of mind.
