Through the terminal inside the safe room, Liu Xuan saw the feed from the video doorbell.

Liu Xuan’s brow furrowed slightly, but she didn’t respond to them.

Lin Qi, on the other hand, was uncertain. "Who sent them?" he asked.

Liu Xuan reached out and tapped the terminal a few times. "It’s definitely not my father or Fourth Uncle," she said. "They know this villa has a safe room, so they wouldn’t send people to escort me elsewhere."

"Besides, Fourth Uncle should have complete control of the HGPD by now. They’ve all been assigned to city security detail, so they have no reason to be here."

"I need to ask Fourth Uncle before I can make a decision."

Liu Xuan didn’t actually think the HGPD team looked fake. After all, the villa’s internet connection was still active. All she had to do was ask Liu Xinglu to find out what was going on.

Using the terminal, Liu Xuan sent a call request to Liu Xinglu.

Liu Xuan asked, "Fourth Uncle, an HGPD riot squad is here. Do you know about this?"

Liu Xinglu answered in the affirmative. "It’s not safe for you to stay at 8 Fortress Road. I sent them to escort you to Safe House 1. Liu Xingyuan and I are personally overseeing it, so the security is higher."

Her suspicion seemed to lessen slightly, but Liu Xuan pressed, "Why send the HGPD?"

Liu Xinglu replied, "Our internal security team would be too conspicuous. An HGPD operation won’t attract any attention."

Liu Xuan nodded. "Alright, I understand."

She ended the call and shut off the terminal.

Liu Xuan was lost in thought.

Lin Qi frowned as well. "Something feels off," he said.

It was just a gut feeling. Lin Qi couldn’t put his finger on what was wrong, but he felt Liu Xinglu’s reaction was strange.

Liu Xuan nodded, affirming Lin Qi’s suspicion. "Fourth Uncle is an S-Class Implanter and an S-Class Cyber Hacker. If that was really him I was talking to, he wouldn’t have been so evasive. He’s confident enough in his technical prowess that he would have told me outright: the Liu Clan’s security personnel are temporarily unreliable due to the new strain of cyber psychosis, which is why he had to send the HGPD."

"This villa must have been compromised. The hidden cyber network terminal has likely been hardware-hijacked, just like what happened in the Edge-12 District."

The blue light in Liu Xuan’s left eye flared, and a sharp glint appeared in her right.

Liu Xuan didn’t need any intelligence to deduce who was behind it.

The timing of his move was deadly.

Liu Xingyuan and Liu Xinglu had been planning to make their move soon and purge the company from within.

But the unexpected incident with Ninghang Technology gave Liu Siqi the perfect opportunity to strike.

Hearing Liu Xuan, Lin Qi understood this was an internal Liu Clan matter.

The fact that it wasn’t Ninghang Technology actually made Lin Qi breathe a sigh of relief.

Compared to Ninghang Technology’s methods, the Liu Clan’s dirty laundry was hardly a threat.

"Father and Fourth Uncle are bound to realize what Liu Siqi is doing. All we have to do is wait."

"There’s a whole riot squad out there. You don’t expect the two of us to take them all out, do you?"

Judging by her tone, Liu Xuan wasn’t under much pressure. She still had the situation under control.

Liu Xuan said no more, turning her attention back to the terminal to monitor the situation outside the villa’s front door.

Finally, Liu Weiyi lost his patience. He stepped aside and initiated a call. "She must have noticed something’s wrong. What’s the situation on your end? You hijacked the cyber network hardware and still couldn’t fool her?"

The voice on the other end of the line was irritated. "What the hell do you know! Those two old fools, Liu Xingyuan and Liu Xinglu, are clearly hiding a ton of things from the board. She was testing me. She brought up the security personnel—the company security team had some kind of shakeup today, how was I supposed to know about that?"

"Stop bothering me and figure out a way to break in! I still have to deal with things at Safe House 1. Liu Xinglu is an S-Class Cyber Hacker; it’s nearly impossible to keep anything from him."
